Alright, which Arab makes a good fig fragrance. At least one of those mf’s has to know a thing or two about figs
Which frag have you tried so far that is most deserving of the title of "signature fragrance"?
bought a bottle of D&G Light Blue intense thanks to you fags and I got complimented on it multiple times today. Love ya guys <3
>>18716820For me, personally?Mousse Illuminée, Iron Duke, and at a previous time TdH EdT. Iron Duke I can’t/don’t really wear in the summer though, so it gets knocked down a peg.
>>18716489Same way you deal with literally anything else in life. You may never hear the perfect song out of 500000000 songs, you may never see the most perfect pristine view, or catch that perfect fish, or find the most ideal partner to spend your life with. It's about appreciating the journey you've had thus far up until this point. Not chasing an obscure concept of perfection endlessly.
>>18716833Which ones from Beaufort London are their best according to you? I think some anons were discussing the brand a few days back but I didn't note down the names. Thnx.
>>18716820Prada L'Homme Intense, Loewe Solo Cedro, Aventus Cologne, Chanel Allure Homme EDT

>>18716896What is that? What's the difference between Terre D'Hermes and that one?
What does he wear, /frag/?
>>18716907literally just the bottle
Lads, it has certainly exceeded my expectations. Overall very fresh and pleasant, fits the role of a summer gourmand reasonably well. I could see this being great in high heat. Those almond notes really come through and round off the sweetness, not cloying whatsoever. The citrus opening is excellent but disappears almost as soon as it hits skin somehow. Will need to test with a proper full wear, but overall a decent release by Turkdjian
Is El Nino hit your country, anons? What are you guys wearing in this extremely hot weather?
>>18716820>Which frag have you tried so far that is most deserving of the title of "signature fragrance"?Robert Graham Valour.

>>1871692532c here in Athens but it feels way worse. Wore d&g pour Homme while traveling on the bus carrying bags and felt fresh. Packed adg parfum, platine blanc and hawas tropical for a week in Madrid and Barcelona.
>>18716908probably old spice
>>18716920Thanks I didn't know this even existed. The notes sound like a snoozefest but they don't mean much anyway. Seems like they release all the lighter generic scents as regular privee and the long lasting and interesting scents on the esprit line. This is because everyone lost their mind when they released light floras for the asian market on the privee line which people expected to be heavy and long lasting complex scents. It makes sense but it also means all their best stuff will be on the esprit line.
>>18716850Funny that you mention music since I do feel saddened by not having enough lifetimes to listen to all the good music, but I don't feel that about perfumes. Hearing and smell work quite different so I can, and have, listened to an artist's entire discography or all the top albums or songs from the same genre. Can't really go through every single rose scent the same way. There is more redundancy in perfume. I don't have the same desire to go through every single good perfume, I just want to learn about the different categories and find stuff that interest me. I have a big enough collection that I don't need anything else but I'm still curious what I'm missing. I find fragrances as more finite than music. As far as signature scents go it's not a concept that works for me. I don't like wearing the same thing, I just have favorites that I wear more often than others.
>>18716814>escada pour homme (5ml splash)Try this on a comfy cold weather setting, either lounging at home at night or at fancy event. It's amazing but I don't like it in the heat.>polo crestI'm really curious how this is, I see it pop up from time to time.>van cleef & arpels pour hommeThis as well.

>>18716814also curious about van cleef and arpels. i understand it to be discontinued so im wondering if its worth the headache
>>18716998How so?
>>18717058It's been discontinued for years, but it was reintroduced recently together with Tsar.I'm not sure where it's available physically, but it's available online at least.
>>18717020but enough about Drakkar Noir
>>18717058>>18717073from what I can gather the reissues are only physically available at their boutiques which are appoinment-only. it seems like something that they only sell as an afterthought to their jewelry which is what the appointments are forive looked everywhere online, nobody sells them except for eBay
>>18717007No experience with PUH specifically, but you might get lucky, a lot of vintage bottles use a crimp seal at the top that you can essentially just unfold to get at the juice. Just take it slow and focus on metal and plastic as opposed to glass.

Looking for a fragrance recommendation.> age rangemid-30s> season/climatespring through early autumn, continental european> price range200EUR max, but cheaper is always better> settingdunno, everythingMy favourite scent ever was fleur du male by jean paul gaultier, but it's discontinued and I can't find anything as good, or as good as I remember it having been. Of currently available scents I like juniper salt by womo, but it has very little staying power. I guess I want something flowery but not sweet or sour. I also like terre d'hermes, but everybody is wearing it now, and it also doesn't have much staying power.I was also thinking of getting something with petrichor. Never tried it so I have no idea if I'd like it, but I really love the smell of fresh rain.
>>18717272fucking do your own research then retard, instead of constantly crying to us for recs and then not liking any
How's the performance on GIT nowadays
>>18717282>mature, mild/warm weather all-rounder>balanced floral with staying power>medium-high budget>maybe petrichorWell, for petrichor you could try Baie 19. Neroli Intense might scratch the neroli itch from Fleur but the performance is mild and it's a simple and linear scent. You could also try H24 since you like Terre, though it's a little bit weird. Another high-performance floral would be Narcotic V. Orage could also be a solid petrichor play, but possibly out of budget unless you can find a partial or a decanter who does 30s or 50s.
>>18717307Thanks. Sadly I couldn't find samples for any of them to ship to the EU in the links from the general, and they don't sound like the sort of scents I'm likely to find in walk-in shops :(
>>18717282Have you sampled Hermann?
>>18717323You mean Hermann à mes Côtés me Paraissait? I have not, from the fragrantica description it doesn't sound like a good fit> rose oilsounds sweet, no? I have no idea what non-sweet rose is supposed to smell like.I'd give it a shot if I could do a quick sample order, but again, I can't find this on any of the EU sample sites :/ Had no idea it's so hard to get samples.
>>18717319>Baie 19Depending on where in EU you are, you might be able to find a Le Labo outlet in one of the major cities. >Neroli IntenseCheapie, probably not available for sampling at storefronts>H24Designer, likely easy to sample at luxury drugstores or Sephora>Narcotic V.Probably available at any sizeable niche perfume store. Check Nasomatto site for retailers maybe>Oragesame as Baie. Also check luxury department stores, they sometimes carry LV fragrances. Also, check facebook for private perfume exchange groups for your country/region. You can sometimes find decanters with excellent prices. Just follow the same advice you would use for buying on ebay (trusted seller, lots of transaction history, strong reviews, etc).
>>18717327>>18717327Ok, I was able to find Narcotic V. and Hermann etc. from the other guy's recommendation on allyours.com still none of the others. I'll make a list and ask in shops. Pretty bummed that there's not one huge website that has samples of (almost) everything... What do pros do to compare and stay up to date with new scents, do they go on an easter-egg hunt for dozens of new scents?
>>18717272>all light airy stuff with no performance>grimwhy didn't you specify that in your post then retard? just get Vibrato or Contralto and fuck off
>>18716814>>18716961>>18717058tried both>van cleef & arpels pour hommemusky chypre at the top with a smooth, green, leathery heart. dries back down into a rough patchouli/musk accord with some of the greenery still shining through. If you wanted to compare this to other frags from the 70s/80s era, this is like if OG drakkar noir, modern kouros, and equipage all had a baby. it's like if you took the archetypal 80s powerhouse and made it more sophisticated and elegant, rather than brash and loud like so many were. If the rumors are true, and VC&A has kept the reissue formula mostly the same as the original, this is honestly something I will be tracking down to have a full bottle of. >polo crestcrisper and a little sweeter than the OG green. if you took out a little tobacco and added some rose/bergamot, you have polo crest. Now that I think of it (I still have it on my wrist) its more similar to Italian Cypress than the OG is, which is ironic because iirc italian cypress was meant to be a modernized version of OG polo green. >vintage Caron PUHsame as the modern formula, but mossier and a little bit drier somehow. not too different, but still good to try.>lalique pour homme le faunea bit of a playdoughy lavender/vanilla going on, but with a clean amber-like accord and something else more floral I cant put my finger on. overall a smooth, blue, sweet, floral fragrance just a touch too dated for modern audiences. it's nice to have the final lalique pour homme to complete the trio, but current eBay prices for a full, true bottle are way too much for what the scent is
>>18717282can I refine my request by adding> something I can order a sample of delivered to the EUhow do you guys even know so many scents? seems really hard to get samples> websites are total disasters> samples not available> samples out of stock> find one sample but none of the othersFirst time here so I might have just underestimated how chaotic this all is.
>>18717326Get it direct from ELDO’s EU website. They do 4 piece sample kits, scroll through their catalog and pick out 3 other frags that look interesting to you, there’s enough there to work with, and they do a lot of floral based frags.
>>18717346hot weather fragrance doesn't necessarily mean airy citrus with no performance
>>18717356i always recommend Bois Imperial because it's a cheap and long lasting frag with a scent profile that is generally well-liked. for petrichor though, Hermann is one of the best out there. the Geosmin note makes it smell like rain. it's an earthy rose smell. it's quite nice. also can't go wrong with some classics like BdC, NYI, Pour Monsieur, etc.
>>18717364BI's performance has become lackluster in the recent formulationsI've been wanting to try the extrait for that reason
>>18717358sure, but if you're going to outright shut them down, be specific in what you're looking for. anyways, aquatics also work. Acqua di Sale is a good one
>>18717357>ELDO’s EU websitefound the correct one in the end, but almost ordered picrel to my house. Stay safe guys.
>>18717356>how do you guys even know so many scentssame way some people know so many songs.fragrances have trends and genres and standout examples of categories just like music does. then you follow the rabbit hole based on what you like and build an archival knowledge based on thatthere's probably an assorted 50-100 high profile fragrances that just about any perfume autist will know by mention or recommendation>seems really hard to get samplesIf you havent already, there are websites listed in the OP pasta labelled us/eumost of my sampling Ive done through Luckyscent, and I think they ship to the EU also but I could be wrong. Lots of people hate the little 1mL dabber vials but I dont mind them, personally. once you find a few websites that work well for your area thats really all there is to it, just rotate between the same one to three sites unless you get into vintage collecting which is tiresome in its own wayalternatively, clothing and beauty stores here in the US often have a fragrance section with testers that you can just walk up and try out. maybe you have something like that by you
>>18717333I get everything through facebook groups. There are a few big ones in my country with 10+ years active and extremely vigilant and harsh moderation. There are dozens of decanters, with some offering hundreds of scents, as well as highly-connected individuals who conduct split orders, preorders, group buys, and so on, all well below discounter price and tax-free. Crazy shit in some of these groups, theres one fella who periodically will split from his 1L official dramming fluid bottles of discontinued Tom Fords. There were also a few bottles of Margiela Anguish and Awe floating around months before it was released.
>SOTN: Dans Tes BrasPulled my decant out of my sell pile after one of you guys mentioned it a few times. Revisiting it after ~6-8 months, I like it a lot more now. It has a certain simplicity that isn't necessarily boring or linear, but rather minimal. I pick up a few core elements, soft pale florals, slightly metallic musk, and some powdery notes which combine to be cool, gentle, and comforting. Would be absolutely intoxicating on a woman.
>>18717365no issues in terms of performance on my end with BI. another few that i would suggest: Colonia Essenza (actually quite long lasting surprisingly), BdJ, Prada L'Homme, Gris Charnel
>>18717372Kek
>>18717354thanks frenpour homme sounds like something id enjoy but i cba to hunt down any discontinued fragrance
I have it in my head that I need to get an MFK freshie for work. Currently own D&B Light Blue eau Intense and YSL Myslf. Is Aqua Celestia Cologne Forte too fruity for an office environment? I'm almost inclined to try the OG Aqua Universalis but heard the longevity is ass.
>>18717418Better solution, get that terrible idea out of your head.
>>18717408FragranceVault might still have some decants of it if you really feel like trying. their site is in french but they seem to ship from Cali
>>18717420What workplace freshie would you suggest? Not something too old-school like a fougere though.
>>18717426On second thought, what's a good modern beginner's fougere?
>>18717430the four that come to mind would be>rogue perfumery fougere l'aube>chanel platinum egoiste>penhaligon's the cut / sartorial>naughton & wilson gravitash24 isn't technically a fougere but to me it always came off as a metallic futuristic fougere, and its cheap so you could try that
>>18717085You spelled Cool Water wrong
>>18717177Not CDNIM though
>>18717426My workplace freshies are>Bohemian Lime>Missoni Wave (or substitute CAHSEE)>GitS>Day Three’s Del Mar>Neroli MediterraneoFor warm weather but not absolutely scorching I’ll also use>DSH2021>Lime Cola>BdC (currently L’Exclusif, but I won’t be re-upping it once consumed)>The DreamerNot currently in rotation but in the closet are>Philippine Houseboy>Eau de Rochas Homme>TdH Eau Givree (travel spray)>Bois ImperialI also just recently purchased 6 Nicolai travel sprays, but after getting to test some that were blind buys, I’ll probably only use 4-5 of them. >>18717430>modern beginner's fougereThis is a much more complex question than you may think. Assuming you mean modern as in date produced, why would that make them any better than ones made 50 years ago?Assuming you mean modern as in style, it’s an old style, modern interpretations aren’t going to change what it is at its core. >Fougere l'aube>Bon Monsieur>Zino>Azzaro pour Homme>Paco Rabanne pour HommeGood suggestions >>18717456 as well.
>>18717461it moggs CDNIM the hardest, actually
>>18717430>>18717456i should recant my rec for fougere l'aubeits one of the best modern fougeres around but rogue isnt beginner friendlythe 2010 formulation of Houbigants Fougere Royale may actually be a decent starting point. fougere royal was actually the *very first* fougere when it was produced over 100 years ago, but they remade it "recently" for modern audiences.fougere marine from montale is also pretty neutral, as is b-618 from nishane (kind of)dior sauvage, despite its advertised note listing, is actually a fougere as well amd very very common still

Welp, you live and you learn. Definitely gonna sell it some time soon.
>>18717582This. Also, letting it 'macerate' or whatever other bullshit doesn't work. I've had this bottle for over a year and it's still nasty and offensive. I went through a phase of buying clones last year and with the exception of Miraj Absolu they've all been a disappointment.
>>18717582>sell itbruh it's a $20 tiktok meme fragrance. you are brown for buying it (hence the name) but if you hate it so much you might as well toss it
>>18717585It's more expensive than that here in Australia, it's worth selling it here.
>>18717584I pretty much only buy dupes (despite having the money to buy designer or niche if I want) cause I'm cheap, and I've been impressed by everything I've gotten so far except that one.
>>18717382>Dans Tes Bras>a certain simplicity that isn't necessarily boring or linear, but rather minimalExactly, instead of a multitude of notes it communicates with volume.>Would be absolutely intoxicating on a woman.I think it's very unisex, it's just clean and intoxicating. At first I understood we have an expectation that women are supposed to smell like this type of clean but I think the smell is so potent that it speaks for itself. It's not something that is going to smell masculine or "blend with your natural smell". It is what you would expect some fabric softener to smell straight from the bottle. There is always a note I can't name that just calls me and pulls me in. Perfumery is most often praised for smelling a bunch of different notes but making a handful of notes ballet and morph is so impressive. It's just so interesting, even Maurice Roucel himself said he was more proud of it than Musc Ravageur.

>>18717558>optimal amount of frags to own so that you never get bored and can rotate regularly, yet aren't hoarding clutter?Totally depends on your tolerance for boredom. Personally I need at least 16, 8 hot weather fragrances and 8 for everything else. I don't like wearing the same fragrance consecutively and with fresh fragrances they are more utilitarian so I want as much variety as possible. I want something for the heat when I step out the shower. When it's not hot it's more about exploration and entertainment.

>>18717228Right, I got a flowery reply saying I could buy a bottle on the phone or give them the relevant data and they'd send me an invoice to pay by card.I gave them a call and someone who felt like it was her second week on the job enthusiastically told me that they're ONLY available to try at their (one of their?) What’s a good fragrance to pair with the scent of stale cigarette smoke. Doubling down on tobacco is the immediate gut reaction but that seems silly. I think I’d be looking for something more coffee focused to really hit that morning breakfast vibe. Maybe something boozy instead since that already gets paired with tobacco fragrances.Any suggestions? I’m open to alternative ideas that I didn’t mention.

I want to start building an actually respectable collection rather than cycle through the latest designer bullshit constantlyWhat should I start with?I'm not sure about classic chypres and fougeres, I like Antaeus but I feel like it's too dressed up and mature for me; Kouros isn't my thing on the other hand and as far as fougeres go I much prefer the GIT/CW dnaOverall I tend to prefer orientals
A few recent impressions.Tiziana Terenzi Vele: More like "Vile." Initially, it smells like slightly rotten, freshly cut cucumber and makeup (is this what they call "powdery"?). It gets a little better after an hour or so, but overall, I didn't like it at all. Imagine trusting Fragrantica on notes.Orto Parisi Viride: Harsh and spicy, mostly cloves. It could be good in cold weather. It's kind of like Ambre Sultan, but harsh instead of comfy.Orto Parisi Risvelium: A bitter grapefruit pith/zest scent that lasts a long time. It's kind of like a good espresso for me—bitter but enjoyable. The thing is, I don't really want to taste the bitterness all day long. I don't know how to feel about this scent; it's polarizing.Frederic Malle Eau de Magnolia: A pleasant, natural, and delicate floral summer smell. Turned into a skin smell in about 4-5 hours. Somewhat feminine but I don't really care about that if I like the smell. Overall, very nice. Too bad about the price though.
>>18718214To me Risvelium smells like a tropical take on Kouros
>>18718200What makes a collection respectable? What do you currently have and like that you consider respectable? Do you have a monthly budget it mind for sampling, or can you access boutiques/high end department stores to try stuff for free?Without knowing any of this I would first suggest sampling the masculine Guerlains in the square bottles (heritage, habit rouge, vetiver, etc) as well as some Chanels like Allure Homme EDT, and some of the earlier private line stuff like Cuir de Russie and Sycomore.
>>18718217>What makes a collection respectable?I would say frags whose primary focus isn't to be mass pleasing or sexually attractive but to be interesting and complex yet wearable compositions>What do you currently have and like that you consider respectable? Nothing, I have dozens of samples that range from basic shit like LMLP to avant garde niche but very few of them I would say are worth a full bottle, either because they're boring or, on the other end of the spectrum, too experimental (e.g. Fantomas is fun to wear a couple times but that's it)>monthly budgetNot really. If something is worth it I'll buy it. A mall not far from me carries some of the more well-known higher end brands like MFK, Lutens, Byredo etc so I can sample things there too>habit rougeWill I like this if I disliked Nicolai NYI?I should sample more of Guerlain's stuff anywayThanks for the other recs

>>18718113Doesn't seem like it to me, you can find plenty of les extraordinaires on discounters, it's just les classiques that are hard to find, in much the same way as Armani Privè, Dior Privée and YSL le vestiaire frags are nearly impossible to find outside of the more official channels.I also didn't get the feeling the rep was being deflective, she was rather quite clear about how I could buy a bottle and how they don't produce samples.Bottles for sale on ebay could very well have been bought online like the rep offered, with the intent of flipping them for a profit.

Welp, I pulled a big retard and bought Bleu Satin even though I kept telling myself that I'd never buy a bottle despite how nice it smells because of the longevity. I want to know why the fuck FragranceNet is charging like $125 over MSRP for the bottle after "discount" when you can buy it for $250 from like three other places, or just spend $300 for the bottle and allllll the shit MCDI throw in if you buy direct (which is what I did).
>>18718330We'll see how it turns out >>18718309
>>18718295Sure, but the price of their discovery kit is very reasonable for the number of samples you are getting and then they kick in the discount. The second Anon you replied to is just seething because a number of people here quite like PdE. I still stand by my Eau Sauve and/or Le Cri suggestions though. I'd have said Cuir, but you said you didn't like the notes. As for why people like PdE, they just make a good frag. It doesn't get anymore complicated than that. I would genuinely say out of their whole lineup there is only two or three I find terrible. There's definitely a number I wouldn't buy a bottle of, but I can appreciate them for what they are, and the prices they charge for the quality are definitely in line with what they should be. You can get a lot of their bottles from discounters, so they are even cheaper. While back, myself and a number of anons bought at least a couple of bottles from Joma because they heavily discounted their stock. In some cases 60%. It just took fucking forever for the shit to arrive because they didn't actually have the bottles on hand. I got my final bottle last week and I think that discount happened in April? Sometime around then. That was a good time because they heavily discounted their entire Serge stock as well not long after. They didn't have everything, but there were a few SL frags discounted by 70 or 80% which was bonkers. You might also like Un Belle, a lot of people seem to, but I don't have much of sweet tooth and it is certainly fruity.

I almost want to learn glass blowing because the bottles for frags are often more interesting than the frags themselves. Annoys me when a really good frag has a terribly boring, plain bottle. There's a difference between understated and just seeming cheap.
Is there an /ourguy/ fragrance reviewer or are they all.... you know... like *that*I know Noel Deyez has a channel but like is there anyone else
>>18718503EDP is the best one, next is EDT. Exclusif is the worst in the line.
>>18718567Yes anon. It’s (You). Explore and discover perfumes independently and form your own opinions on them.

Just blind bought 3 arab fragrances. How fucked in the ass did I get.Detour Noir ExclusifBreezeMysterious Amber
>>18718567don't think people here pay much attention to frag reviewers since they're mainly shills. i do like The Perfume Guy and Scent of South Jersey.
I got a bottle of Michael for Men. The first words that come to mind are: familiar, masculine, Y2K, night, party, sweet, woody, patchouli. This is what I would smell growing up on the uncles at family gatherings. It starts with an almost liquor like smoothness and some dark woods. There is a bit of leatheriness but the overwhelming structure is the tobacco and sweet patchouli. Surprisingly it's something that would be wearable on a summer night, maybe not what you want to wear on a hot day, but it doesn't get cloying. The sweet tobacco note is what gives it that Y2K masculine connotation. It has nice performance but it leapfrogs, never becomes too much. The base reminds me of Angel Men when all that's left is sweet patchouli. I think it's truly an amazing composition but because of the memories it recalls and the specific use as a night scent it's not something I would consider a fit for me. I'll give it a couple tries to see if the associations change for me. The marble effect on the cap is cute.
>>18718567I watch The Gay Dragon for the history, background, and occasional chemistry stuff.
>>18718548>really good frag has a terribly boring, plain bottleThe opposite is true for my bottle of DK Fuel for Men, it the best bottle but I find the scent underwhelming.
>>18718574Inspiring words but it is a very big ocean and I'd at least like a direction to swim in>>18718599>Scent of South JerseyIm not convinced this isn't (You)>>18718610>history, background, and occasional chemistry stuff.history, background, and occasional chemistry stuff. This is mostly what I'd be interested in>The Gay DragonWhomst?????????/

>>18718541>>18718547>>18718572>>18718509>>18718487Well lads today I ended up going to Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Macy’s, and Macy’s had the best and most chill shopping experience, an arab mama was helping me sniff out the competition. It was a close battle for me between Burberry Her Elixer, Prada Paradoxe Intense, Chanel Chance and Chanel mademoiselle but I tried all the flankers of pic related and in my gut I believed I had to get this one in 100ml. And they had 15% every frag this week. Lady hooked me up with tons of samples too. I also took advantage of the sale and got myself a 100ml resupply of Bleu De Chanel EDP since it’s her favorite frag on me and I just ran out. I compared Parfum and EDP one final time, and it’s hard to beat the freshness and well roundedness of the EDP. I still love YSL La Nuit for that specifically date night kinda stink niche.Macy’s is pretty based if you have to buy in person.I did try Creed Aventus for Her and actually liked it more than the male version, which I think is mid, but for the price I didnt allow myself to like it too much. I also tried PDM Dilena and its flankers, wasn’t terribly impressed and was kinda disappointed since it seems to be hyped right now.Side note, finally got to smell Tuxedo in the YSL store, bretty gud. Babycat is very nice too.
>>18718548I like brands that have simple, not overdesigned yet instantly recognizable bottles. Tauer, Amouage, Nishane etc
>>18718548IMO the tackier the bottle the better, I'm so disappointed that simple squares are the norm.My personal favorites are the ones that invoke old incense censers
>>18718599Perfume guy is pretty decent. Even if he is potentially gay, ol mate knows his fragrances and has good taste>>18718567Scent sesh is also quite possibly gay, but his videos are decent. Possibly also a redditor. But i like his takes on things
>>18718659"Life is beautiful"Also nice words that could carry an extra meaning for her, considering it's a gift for wedding. Congrats, anon
>>18718716>Scent sesh>wojak thumbnails>liquid brun micAlright, I kinda dig the vibe
Best mineral frags? I don't like Ganymede, something in it reminds me of old bus seats. TdH is too citrusy and not mineral enough
>>18718730Yeah the liquid brown mic is fkn gold m8
>>18718743I actually would recommend Acqua di Scandola quite heavily for that almost crusty mineralistic citrusy vibe. Quite naturalistic and utterly addictive with that pleasant saltwater musky drydown.
>>18718743Could try TDH Eau Givree, or Oud Minerale
>>18718567>5 replies>no mention of Luca Turinpathetic
>>18718845>washed up jew who paywalls his reviewsWhat’s pathetic is holding these shills above your own sensibilities
>>18718850>pathetic>says the anon whose mother was fucked by LT or some shit and after all these years he's still salty about itgrim
>have eros edpIs eros flame redundant? I've heard the drydown is basically eros. Is this true?
>>18718845Go worship crusty jews somewhere else you disgusting golem.
>>18718717Ty anon
>>18718845Why do people worship this dude lmao
So what's the consensus on Ganymede
>>18718845His review books are literally youtube comment-tier slop. How glorious it must have been to be a boomer when people would actually pay for the privilege of reading your hot takes on shit you know nothing about
>>18718851Huh?>>18718908Its unique but mid
>>18718851>the same anon who still hasnt figured out a good summer fragrance>posts in every thread asking for recs and disliking everythingMaybe Turin can recommend you one (1) good complex summer frag, i recommend you buy his books on amazon for 500000 dollars
>>18718986Speaking of complex summer frags, how wearable is the "dirty aquatic" genre like Megamare, Phtaloblue, Squid...? Just weird for the sake of it or can it actually be worn
>>18718631>Im not convinced this isn't (You)lol no. i know he's not a popular channel, but he made some really nice reviews of some classic men's frags. i think the first vid of his i watched was his review of vintage kouros
>>18718996I’ve heard people say they get compliments from megamare but I feel like thats cap. It can be kind of screechy and its also like 2 notes for 14 hours straight so not very complex. Squid is perfectly wearable but not very summery. Its a darker inky aquatic with a warm woody mid and base
>>18718996Squid isn't really dirty from what i recall. If it's as similar to Bleu Turquoise as Fragrantica says, then it's super wearable. i don't find Megamare unwearable scent-wise, it's just really loud so just be lighter on the sprays
>>18719012>>18719013I'm asking because I'm looking for a good marine/ozonic fragrance. I've been wanting to try>Megamare>Phtaloblue>Acqua di Sale>Squid>the Lorenzo Pazzaglia Sea lineBut not sure which are worth sampling. Is Megamare similar to other Orto Parisi frags? I neither liked Viride nor Risvelium
>>18719019No, i think that and Cuoium are the best of the brand. the list looks nice. other options to look at:>The Mariner's Rhyme>EGE / ΑΙΓΑΙΟ Nishane
>>18718607i didnt care for it. it has a very dry and ashy drydown>>18718324i dont find them to be too similar. inspired by, but not really a direct interpretation like Cross did with drakkar noir (Bon Monsieur)fougere l'aube has a lot of hay and camphor at the top before you even get the archetypal oakmoss/lavender. i would even go as far to say that the first few wears of fougere l'aube border on being astringent and grassy/green. in this way, i found it more similar to Vetiver Guerlain rather than GIT, but i see how others can draw the comparison if you do really like GIT, then fougere l'aube shouldnt be hard to pick up on
>>18719019Acqua di Scandola.
Damn. I really shouldn't buy these House of Cosmo frags I like. I need to shelve the decants or my wallet will open on its own and I just know it.
What causes MM By the Fireplace to smell so smoky, I want to hunt this note down and find more things like it.
>>18719116i think it might be the chestnuts. because i get that note as well from Givenchy Gentleman Reserve Privee
>>18719118I’ve never smelt chestnuts before but I have smelled this scent. It’s so familiar, like a bonfire, and I want to wear it now but this is not meant for the summer
>>18719116>>18719121If you want campfire smoke look up (from most to least smoky)>Tonnerre>Firewater>A City on Fire>Tyrannosaurus Rex
>>18719126I’ve been eyeing City on Fire and Abandoned Mansion so this might be a good excuse to pull the trigger on the Imaginary Authors sample box>Firewater>Notes of seaweedWell I’m certainly interestedThanks for the recs
>>18719127you can also check out Naomi Goodsir. her perfumes have a smoky DNA.
>>18719127Imaginary Authors unfortunately has the Heretic problem where their stuff smells great & unique but lasts for like 2 hours tops and sits really close to the skin. Tried a few samples and that was the case for all of them. Their packaging/marketing is top-tier though
>>18719127i got abandoned mansion for my books collection... and its def something. Very unlike any scent ive smelled designed to just be good. Its pleasant, but absolutely niche. Good buy, but i rarely wear it.>imaginary authorsi havent smelled the whole line, but ive sampled a large selection. Stuff like Cape heartache is very good and conventional, and then Whiff of Waffle Cone is so accurate i have a hard time even rating it in terms of colognes. Overall id say its a brand thats very worth spending some money sampling, but you might not like them all and some you may hate.
>>18719155>>18719133I guess I’ll just have to accept the fact that Imaginary Authors doesn’t make fragrances for wearing but instead they make fragrances for the sake of exploring the art. Which means I’ll probably hold off on buying them until I’ve built my base for wearable stuff.
New thread please
>>18719133>>18719162>lasts for like 2 hours tops and sits really close to the skinI would say that’s completely frag specific. For both A Whiff of Waffle Cone and A City on Fire I get great performance (longevity and sillage) out of both.
