Don’t have any good recs, but I’ve been looking for something similar, a good fresh scent with powa to fill out the summer rotation. Ombre Leather is nice but a bit too conventional imo as far as leather scents go, and from my experience it gets tiresome in hot environments.

There are a number of designers who protect themselves. I don't think YSL does. Chanel, Dior, LV, and a few others are extremely protective of their brand and won't let discounters sell their frags.

1) Toy Boy is actually fairly masculine because of the green aspect to it.

2) Rose & Cuir - Frederic Malle. It's a fresh rose and leather and you have to be in the mood for it because it's kinda 'dirty' from the leather but I think it's great.
3) Habit Rouge has a bunch of florals and citruses in the body including rose if you want to consider that rose. I think it's fair. Easy recommendation for a classic cologne-type cologne.

I just sprayed my sample of Un Coeur en Mai that came with my MDCI order. It's very nice. The powder falls off quickly, but I don't particularly like powdery frags so I don't see that as a bad thing. Maybe get a sample and see what you think. I will need to put it up against Le Cri to see if I really feel if it's really too feminine to wear. Could a good "see if your GF likes it frag" since it smells like you just walked through a field of fresh cut roses.

I just learned D&G reformulated The One EDP! Son of a bitch. It is my worst performer frag yes but one that rolls my eyes into my head

Chanel products never go on sale. Ever.

When a store is advertising “10-25% Everything!” the Chanel items aren’t actually on sale, and if they are sold at a ‘discount’ it’s actually the retailer eating the price difference at a loss.

Also, Chanel has any retailer that sells their products sign a contract that unsold stock is returned to Chanel to be redistributed or destroyed.

If they are ever found in violation of this contract Chanel pulls their license and they lose out on both the “honor” and profits of carrying Chanel products.

LV seems to do this to some extent as well, but I’m less familiar to what extent. YSL on the other hand doesn’t do this, so not sure why you’re having a hard time finding their stuff. Contrary to what >>18722995 said, Dior doesn’t do this either, as far as I’m aware, I see their stuff on discounters all the time, although I’ll admit I’ve been doing less discounter hunting recently considering it’s damn near a waste of time for anything half decent.

Went to Sephora to sample some fragrances. I tried Jazz Club and I’m unreasonably mad. In theory it sounds like something I’d enjoy but it smells fucking awful and I don’t know why and that makes me upset.
Anyways, Stronger With You Powerfully is great. Probably gonna pick up a bottle next paycheck. Runner up goes to Replica Lazy Sunday.

Feel like LV is more successful than Chanel at keeping their sellers on a tight leash. I’ve never once seen an LV for less than retail, whereas like you said, Chanel stuff you can find sometimes at what I assume is wholesale as a loss leader for fragnet or whoever.

Because the powder drops off very quickly on Un Coeur, imagine this is Le Cri that swaps the sweetness for green, and inserts musk into the mix with the same amount of rose between them. I feel they are on equal footing in terms of general quality, and that both are as wearable by men as a rose frag. I am going to repeat my suggestion of getting a sample and smell them side by side for yourself.

I am currently fighting with myself over potentially ordering it because I only have two rose frags. Le Cri and Lyric Man. Lyric is insanely powdery to me, so I don't think I've worn it more than twice and while I like Le Cri a lot... I don't think it'd hurt to have a third option. Un Coeur is on Joma right now for $50 below their "simple presentation" bottles in one of their odd, glass flasks that usually cost an extra $150, and comes in 100ml instead of 75ml.
