How heavy is too heavy? At some point it has to get uncomfortable.

I got lean and my size 30 jeans are all too big to wear without a belt. Shit sucks, I'll have to get fat for the winter
>>18748407I find even 13oz to be uncomfortable if they're raw.
>>18748407The fuck would you even wear 25oz jeans for? It would be like wearing a rug.
>>18748407Wearing 25oz right now and they’re pretty comfyIt all depends on how tight the weave is
>>18748338I wear a denim shorts jumper when I feel western.
What if a white boy acquired a denim shirt and ralph tucked it like picrel
>>18748676jesus that's a lot of tucking
Thinking about copping some Fullcount 0105bk because I'm looking for a relaxed fit black warp white weft selvedge jean, but I can't reconcile the premium pricing with the lack of detail and trim I'd associate with some thing that costs $300+ - for comparison, I think Momotaro's jeans deserve the price completely. Can someone who has a pair from Fullcount let me know if I'm missing something, or if 501 repros aren't my thing.
>>18748560From personal experience, the advantage of heavy denim is that it is ruglike which means it doesn't wet itself to your skin. That can very quickly constrict your movements, especially when it comes to it wetting itself on your tights and preventing you from raising your legs. With heavy denim, you simply move and it just lifts off your body because the fabric has structural integrity of its own. The downside of course is that you will sweat more wearing it but if you're already sweating in light fabric going heavier doesn't really matter much. If I had to guess about why denim caught on in the first place it was because of the stiffness of the fabric when its still raw and rigid due to the starch. With actual workwear, spending a few bucks on a new pair of pants doesn't really matter much since you'll make it back in a day and if you're comfy for a week or two, that can be worth it.
>>18749137Also, restarching your jeans is a thing people did back in the day and some still do that. Doing that gives you both the rigidity I'm talking about while also having a lightweight.
>>18748407My heaviest pair is 20oz from ONI and they're one of my more comfortable pairs. Once they broke in a little bit they feel like wearing pants made with a blanket. They're definitely three season pants though, I can only wear them from autumn to early spring in my area.
Can anyone help me track down this style of shirt in a larger size? I first saw it at a festival I went to last year but was just too small. I found the identical shirt just now on ebay in the same size, but searching the PC9 code doesn't come up with anything.https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/168525517989?_trksid=p4375194.c102726.m162918I fell in love with that specific colour and style and just want it in one size up.

Anyone have experience with Round House? Thinking about their double front carpenter jeans. I'm loyal to TCB for casual wear but these would be for work.
>>18750294wtf does TCB mean? Do you think we're all jean freaks like you, on the same page with your fancy lingo?FUck you.
>>18750296True Chino Brand. Even a retard like yourself should know who they are.
>>18748705If you want a "proper" fitting top block then momotaro is probably more your speed. My pair of 0105w has been a main pair of mine for about 1.5 years and I really dig them. Their denim is loose woven with zimbabwean cotton, so they legitimately feel like silk/cashmere when worn in, and they have a genuine true vintage weave/texture whereas momotaros look smooth/soulless in comparison (which might be your vibe). Also, the 0105 is known to be a slouchy fit which is something I prefer. They were designed to be a good balance between true vintage spec/aesthetic and modern streetwear. Momotaro is more of a pure modern japanese interpretation of jeans. It all just matters what you like stylistically. If you want something very clean looking a properly tailored, then Momotaros are for you. If you like a really casual-looking, beat up pair of vintage 501s then go for the 0105
Forgive the beginner question but how many of you purposely buy jeans that are too long for the express purpose of rolling up the cuffIt seems retarded to me and it looks really bad but this is absolutely everywhere I look at raw denim discussion posts
I bought a pair of buck mason ford standards, and have been happy with them. However, I got to try on some momotaro's, and now they're calling out to me. Do I buy another indigo straight fit jean? On the one hand it's another indigo jean, on the other the momotaros are a way cooler version of the indigo jean
>>18751116It’s all just preference. I usually go for an extra 2 inches of inseam so I can do a nice stacked single cuff because I really like the silhouette of it and so I can show off the roping of the hem. The shit I can’t stand is when people roll up their cuff above their ankles just for the sake of having a cuff even though they don’t have enough inseam. Absolute epitome of being tryhard. If you like your shit hemmed, then get it hemmed>>18751162Momotaros are made better than even most jap jeans. If you like them, then get it. Sometimes I just impulse buy a pair because I know based off the size chart that it will be a perfect fit and because I know they may never restock that pair again, or at least not restock it for another 1-2 years
>>18751116most raw denim brands are too small to have a range of inseams so they just make everything with an oversized inseam. At least then you can choose to have them hemmed to your desired length but you also have to factor in that the pants can lose some of the inseam. For example, I ordered a pair of UB791 a while back. Those come with a 33 inch inseam as stock. I wore them with a ~2 inch cuff because otherwise they'd be touching the floor. After a month of wear and a wash, they shortened enough that I don't need to cuff them. Part of the shrinking isn't even the fabric contracting from the wash, its all the little creases that build up in the lap and on the back of the knees as well.
I know this is very autistic, but how do you store your jeans that are "too dirty" to be folded up and put away in a closet but not "dirty" enough to be washed? All my chinos and trousers I just fold at the crotch and put them over the bar of a plain normal wooden hanger. The problem I foresee is that doing that with the heavier denim is going to lead to horizontal creases and maybe even color loss at the line where the jeans hang off of the barAm I just imagining a problem where there isn't one? I've never worn any denim before recently so I have no idea
>>18751865I have one of these things hanging on my bedroom door and hang the pants I'm currently wearing on it by the two front loop so I can get my wallet out the back pocket quickly.

mmmmmm mason rook looking like a shoot badass brother
>>18751879>>18751873Hanging by the belt loops seems like a pretty good idea. Even if they stretch a bit over time it shouldn't matter much.I did some digging and there's apparently even specialized hangers for it by some Kickstarter dude, but he charges 50€ for a single one + 20€ getting it shipped to Europe and that's absolutely retarded.
>>18751941you could make them yourself, carving a piece of cedar isn't difficult
>>18751941Redcast makes hangers for that though they're more like regular wire hangers but open on one end, still cost a silly amount of money for a hanger but they're made of iron so there's that I guess. Maybe just buy regular wire hangers and cut off a bit from one end, I imagine they would end up bending from the weight though.
>>18751984>RedcastI didn't know about that site before, thanks anon. Those hangers are 32€ a pop, maybe I'll just grab one if I should ever order something from there.Still a lot, but they look like you could kill someone with them so they will probably outlive me ten times over.
>>18751984>>18751951>>18751941it's weird how there's so few products like that despite fucking everyone wearing jeans i guess most people just throw them in a pile in a corner of their room...
>>18752057because the market for such jeans is niche
>>18751984They have these hangers on scamazon, like 15 dollars/10.
>>18752071Do you have a link? I can't seem to find them

I got an unlined Carhartt-active-like jacket from Dickies for almost nothing. I didn't know they did duck this thick, feels so nice and heavy even though it's unlined. Can't wait for autumn.
>>18752076Oh, I thought you meant similar to the Redcast ones.I have a handful of that style for my regular trousers, but mine aren't long enough so you have to bunch the jeans up really weirdly and they are liable to slip off on one side if you thread the two side and back loops through it
>>18752082Oh shit the redcast one is triangular, my mistake.
>>18752084The main thing is that the Redcast ones are 44cm wide so you can hang them neatly on the loops without having to bunch your pants up.I'm using ones like what you linked right now, but it's really not ideal
How do I get more pronounced wear patterns down my thighs. Just wipe my hands down the front of my pants more?
>>18752377Yeah basically, drying your hands on your pants works. If you want to give up entirely on the natural fading process you can wipe your pants with a wet brush or sponge for extremely fast fades.
>>18752397Guess its time to get a little wet and messy in my jawns haha : ^ )
just got my first pair of raw denim what do i do now?i only go out like once a week for a few hours breaking them in is gonna take like ten years until they look good
>>18752426Well you gotta start going out more. Maybe wear them indoors also.
I don't like the idea of sharp metal keys rubbing against the insides of my pockets all day, anyone use a key holder or some such?
>>18752955I really don't like the feeling of having stuff in my pockets and think the rectangular "wear marks" of cellphones and wallets and shit look fucking retarded on jeans. I use one of those small Bellroy Slings for all my daily shit. It's comfy.
Bros, Freewheelers might actually make the best jeans in the world

Is there raw denim thats actually comfy and has movement that I can do construction in? The uniqlo sucked they were too skinny I looked like a gay skater. 13mwz I did not like the color or the fit. 501 is super inconsistent sizing and not the best for movement. Pretty restrictive.
>>18753066Rustlers? More of a wide fit. If you want the nice jap stuff the Sugarcane 2025 Wide has the absolute best mobility and best fitting ass I’ve ever seen/experienced. You could also get a sized up pair of Iron Heart 634 if you want something really durable. Sizing up for a little more thigh room would be more ideal if you’re using them for construction.

Been looking at a ton of old photos of workers in the 30s-50s and really interested in their jeans. Huge cuffs was pretty much the standard. Lots of denim and cool fabrics Who does the best 50s style jeans? Something a greaser would wear
>>18753161As someone who has spent way too much time finding out what the definitive differences between the 501s of the 1930s-50s, there are so many various "reproductions" of the originals that have large differences in the cuts and patterns even with regards to the same decade. The only real distinguishing factor in the 1950s jeans you'll find is that they were the most well balanced straight cut with an actual somewhat relaxed thigh, medium/high rise, and balanced taper, whereas there really is a minute and indistinguishable difference in the cut of a pair of 1940s reproduction 501s. If by "1950s" 501 you are looking for semi relaxed cut, don't just limit yourself to the 1950s as there are some great 1930s reproductions out there with a great relaxed leg. If you are certain that you want a 1950s pair with a decent amount of inseam to rock a big double cuff, the TCB 50s is pretty standard, but I'd definitely recommend sizing up on those since they even run slightly small in jap sizing. Also, I personally think the Sugarcane 1947 is pretty fucking awesome for that standard vintage 501 cut despite all the poopoo-ing it gets on this board. If you aren't super attached to the idea of having a massive inseam, I will die on the hill of asserting that the Freewheelers 1947 is hands down the best late 40s early 50s reproduction ever made.
Its crazy how high quality the denim discussions were on sufu compared to anywhere on the internet now. I miss the pre iphone/goobergate internet so much mi bernds...
>>18753298Before smartphones, any genuine high quality content on the internet was gatekept through a skill filter of using a computer and being able to navigate the internet. All the content and information is just force fed to normies on social media algorithms, but back in the day it was just nerds who were passing around all the high quality information on niche forums. If you knew how to use a computer and navigate the pre-iphone internet then you can attest to how much more genuine that time period felt. Now you have to trudge through a seemingly never-ending cesspool of retard-posting from normies and trolls to end up at a genuine, high quality or entertaining piece of content or information. The new version of that is just getting off the internet/phone and living your life with those close to you.
>>18753364Those close to me don't have sick japanese denim fades unfortch...
>>18753365Be the denim beacon in your community and lead them through your sick fades
>>18753370Since starting to wear raw japanese blue jeans the local children of the area has begun greeting me in passing. I'm not joking. I used to wear black jeans but that apparently didn't draw their attention and instilled no sense of respect in them. But lightly faded dark blue jeans? The children can tell I'm a step above the other adults.
How do you usually deal with getting your pants hemmed?I've always just been rolling them up but I've come to hate that look, but if I get a new pair and then get it hemmed straight away the length is gonna change quite a bit as they get worn in and washed in the future but if you have them cuffed until they are worn in and only then get them hemmed you are gonna have those shitty looking horizontal lines from the cuff down there
>>18753422I would just keep an additional 0.25"-0.5" of inseam to account for creases forming behind the knee and the potential for any additional shrinkage in the wash. I never really understood how people get as much shrinkage as they say they do. I've been wearing raws for like 7 years now and have never gotten any additional inseam shrink when I wash cold on a gentle cycle and hang dry. Even when I've given my "one-wash" denim a hot wash in the past, the denim ends up just stretching back out to the original inseam length after like 2 days of wear. Most of your inseam shrink will actually just come from the formation of creases behind your knees
>>18753426So you get yours hemmed even before the first wash then?Honestly I never paid too much attention to how the inseam changes before but at least width wise it's always been really noticeable for me
>>18753428I always prefer having a single 1.75-2" thick turn up cuff with a slight stack on top of my footwear to give a nice relaxed/casual silhouette and show off the roping. Depending on the pair of jeans, I will either need to remove some of that inseam to give me that, but since I'm a relatively tall guy the stock inseams on most jap selvedge is just right for that purpose. What you're looking for is in my opinion kind of difficult to get right without actually trying on the jeans first and measuring the exact amount of inseam you want removed while you have the jeans on, then sending it to whatever retailer offers a chainstitch hem service. In all honesty though, its really not worth thinking about this thing too much because like 8 times out of 10 you're going to be slightly dissatisfied with how your hem rests. For me personally, there is a tiny range of tolerance for what produces an absolute 10/10 perfect cuff and associated silhouette and I am retarded enough to have spent literally thousands of dollars on jeans in the last few years chasing that "perfect" silhoutte. Depending on the day, I will love one pair of jeans that drapes differently than another, and then the next week I will love a completely different pair with a different cut, inseam length, hem width, etc..
>>18753428>>18753430But to TLDR your question, I usually wear for like a month and then wash before getting a hem. Not sure if it actually makes a difference
>>18753430>chainstich hemI never really thought about this. I guess I can't just go to a random tailor and get them hemmed, can I?That's gonna suck. I have no idea where to even begin looking. Maybe I'll just keep living with the huge ass cuffs...
I like how jeans look but they're so uncomfortable. They stick to your body so you cant bend down
>>18753433If you're wearing selvedge denim, it would be heresy to not get a traditional chainstitch hem. The jeans are made to replicate the original spec, construction, and overall vibe from the 20th century. Its a little inconvenient to send it somewhere for a chainstitch, but it does produce a better looking roping fade. It all just depends on your mileage though, maybe you don't give a shit about that kind of thing. However, if I'm spending $200+ on some jap-made raws, I am going to do it right. People on here talk way too much shit about cuffing. There's definitely a line where a cuff can look fucking retarded, i.e. whenever someone cuffs above their ankles just for the sake of cuffing or someone just has a clownishly big double/triple cuff, but you can just use your brain and see what produces a good silhouette. Like I said, I usually just go for a single 1.75-2" thick turn up cuff that stacks a tiny bit on top of my shoes. If I wanted to rock a double cuff, I would opt for the same thickness of cuff and still let it slightly stack on top of my shoes or just rest right above the shoes. Anything above the ankles looks 100% tryhard hipster shit
I like a single turn up, or that cuff where you can still see the hem. Most interesting looking part of jeans imo
Was at a store today that sells these shirts. Are they really that good?I'm not against spending more for a tee shirt of its really high quality, but anyone got any experience? And if it's overpriced, what's an alternative?
>>18753447I see this faggot and his shitty white t-shirts fucking everywhere. Where do you usually order your denim? Chances are they stock them.
>>18753447The Merz b loopwheeled fabrics are actually really fucking nice, but they’re not worth buying because for some reason they insist on making their neck openings fucking massive and the thickness of their collars really tiny. This produces a feminine appearance where the shirt is on the border of exposing your collar bones. The only t shirt cut they make that is slightly better is their 214 wide cut, but the collar on those is still really thin similar to the 215. I wore a couple of their 214 shirts in the charcoal gray color a couple years ago. Admittedly the fabric aged WAY nicer than any other loopwheeled shirt I’ve worn, but I couldn’t get past how fucking retarded their cuts are. I ended up purchasing the classic Whitesville 2-pack and realized why they are the industry standard for high end loopwheeled stuff. Yeah, the fabric isn’t nearly as nice as the Merz B stuff, but it is still extremely comfortable and they produce the absolute best t shirt cut on the market. I think if Merz B fundamentally fixed their cuts and made their collar a little more thick, it might be worth the money since they are using relatively heavier weight loopwheeled fabrics even compared to the majority of loopwheeled brands, but I doubt it will ever happen
>>18753445Yeah, it’s the most balanced way to wear jeans. Produces a nice silhouette without going overboard
>>18753451The collar is what stood out the most to me. I'm used to the American crew neck style so these wider thinner collars would be something new I'm going back to that shop in a week to pick up my jeans I'm getting hemmed, so I'll try them on in person
>>18753456If you’re not a really slim guy, the 215 might not fit you as good as you think. I have broad shoulders and it fit like shit. The 214 cut is pretty good, has a little more width and feels more comfortable. If you’re going to get one of their shirts, get their normal medium weight loopwheeled tee. As much shit as I talk about their cuts, that fabric was undoubtedly the nicest aging I’ve ever experienced. Also, don’t buy into the whole, “always hang dry the shirt” bullshit. I never hang dry my loopwheel tees and can assure you that the dryer does not absolutely destroy your clothing. When you initially wash them, you will get all the shrink out so any subsequent dryer cycles is not going to shrink it any more. That medium weight fabric is thicker than 90% of t shirt fabrics and will be way more resistant to aging than you think. Merz B makes way too big of a deal about babying your t shirts. It’s a t shirt. It’s not some specialty luxury jacket that needs a dry cleaner or whatever.
I always find these throwback 50s style shirts too weirdly dainty, like the collars or the cut. Give me a nice thick 90s style t shirt all day. Give me camber.
>>18753422You can just iron out the creases after you've hemmed them. That's the whole point of ironing.

>>18753735I have ironed the cuffs just to set them but otherwise hell no
>>18753735I just give them a short gentle wash inside out and then hang dry. That always gets rid of the creases

Idk if this is the right thread, but I'd like to buy some new jeans. I really liked the Levi's 513 Slim Straight fit, but they apparently stopped making those years ago. I recently bought some 507s, which I think are the Slim Bootcut. They're not quite as good, but similar enough. However, the problem is the pairs I got are the newer material blend and full of elastane and stretch so god damn much.Anyone know any brand and fit that's similar to the 513 and is also not stretchy? Price isn't really an issue. Thanks.
For me, it's Lot 4601
Do you think spectacular goddesses like the one I have just met prefer a man in 1930s leepros with or without the buckle back? Which jeans will most distract from my wounded psyche?
>>18752955>key holderNo although I haven't considered it before, however I do try to keep my shit in my jacket pockets when possible. Obviously it's not practical during summer or many other situations but it's better than nothing. I am also really getting to hate having shit in my pockets since some of my EDC is bulky and annoying (not a gun).
I just want some darker slubby wider jeans to wear with boots man
