THE actual Watch Thread.

No shitters here, no chink copes.
Only Tissot/Longines and up, have some dignity.

LOL, you fucking wannabe snob, luxury brand fellating, poser incel faggot.

You're too late. Your thread will only gain steam after the other one is dead. You're fighting a losing battle here. I've seen this attempted many times and it doesn't work. The janny may even delete yours for being redundant.

See you in a couple days. And I'll be posting my "shitters" here when you are the actual main watch thread, bitch.

And you come off as really tryhard and butthurt like non-luxury watches are somehow a threat to what you like. Worried affordable timepieces will catch on and the watches you covet will lose their cachet and the "elite" status you think they currently have?

There's room for everyone in this hobby, you insecure twat.
Have a picture of another watch you don't approve of. There are a lot more where that came from.
>>
>>18751387
Tissot and Longines not fucking luxury, they are decent watches nonetheless.

The tiers are:
>ultra luxury (FP Journe)
>luxury (Rolex)
>enthusiast (Longines, Tudor)
>consumer (Tissot, Seiko)
>shitters (Addiesive, Locman or whatever you posted) < you are here
>dumpster watches ($10 on Amazon, or literally found in a dumpter mystery meat Breitling lookalike)

You still have the choice to make amends and redeem yourself.
>>
>>18751372
Achtually posting a famous face with watches is ALWAYS a winner, the brain just chose the known human, it's science.
Your "Locman Italy" navy plastic shit won't make it to 300 replies! Where the fuck do you find that shit even? Walmart watches?

Anon, every watch from aliexpress over 100 dollars is miles better than anything by Tissot and will look better. Enjoy your 500 dollar 42mm dinnerplate quartz mall shitter.

Longines are exempt, they make great watches but are nowhere near tissot in price so your lumping them together makes no sense.

In term of "numbers" (like 500 hours power reserve, 200 meters water resistance) yeah sure, but they can write whatever they want.
In term of build quality, not sure it's there. In term of brand identity, not at all.

Let's say you buy a Tissot, you leave it inside a drawer. 15 years later someone else find it:
>"Oh it's the Tissot i bought, nice and retro! I will either wear it or sell it and someone on eBay will buy it because they are collectibles now".

Now, let's say you buy an Addiesive >>18751420 you leave it inside a drawer. 15 years later someone else find it:
>"WTF is that shit Adhesive?? Probably some chink copy that existed back then. Yikes. Into the trash it goes".
>>
>>18751431
You're trying to trigger me but you know you wouldn't wear that shit.

>>18751430
I see what you did there. Tbh it's barely a legit brand.
>>
>>18751437
Yeah, Cadisen has never cut it for me. I'm done with AliExpressers anyway.

And of course it's 'barely' legit. Swiss made, 80 hour power reserve, that stuff doesn't mean a damned thing if it's not at least a few respectable thousand dollars, right?

We all love watches. The infighting here is so immature.
>>
>>18751442
I had a cadisen explorer homage for a while and the bracelet wasn't the best but it was great on a leather strap and overall I really enjoyed it. The only issue is I got the champagne dial one and they made the gold on the hands and markers and the gold on the dial too close and it made it a little hard to read. Otherwise excellent watch.
>>
>>18751445
Yeah, I'm not falling for that again. Legibility is something I make sure to remember no matter how much other aspects may dazzle me.
I love my champagne 34mm Timex Marlin, but yeah, it's gold on gold with gold numerals and sometimes you have to tilt it to get a read. It's actually more silvery than gold, but it still all blends in.
>>
>>18751398
Jomashop or, you know, Italy.
>>
>>18751432

Build quality is a load of bullshit, i've never heard of a lug falling off a watch, we're not living in the days of base metal cases anymore. At the sub-500 dollars mark you expect a decent entry auto movement, legible face, hands, steel case and a sapphire crystal to stop you from scratching your crystal whilst flipping burgers 9-5.

Aliexpress shitters deliver and for a lot less. A brand on your watch is something exclusively for you to know and for others to never give a shit enough about to find out.

It feels nice to wear a reputable brand but a 700 dollar hamilton khaki has the same build quality any chinese 200 dollar shitter has. It's a sealed metal case with an NH35 or equivalent ETA movement in it.

Extremely accurate under 500 that will be quartz.

No analog watch is readable in the dark and they shouldn't be expected to.

Only cheap watches use Chinese parts because things like case and bracelet take up much of the cost.
There's no benefit for the luxury brands to source from china when they have all necessary factories in Switzerland and Germany.
You'll have some chinaman making fakes claiming they make the real stuff in the same factories so idiots feel good about buying their fake products.

Rolex is ugly. Oyster is a shit metal that corrodes just so and it’s soft and they age like dog shit. They’re all over polished and they all need $500-$1200 service all the time.

What’s the deal with this shit? So many better brands from a tool perspective and an aesthetic perspective. Rolex only had brand and flex for browns and nouveau rich.
Get a Blancpain Villeret Quiantiem or royal oak and it’s way better looking and way classier. Or get a Tudor or a micro brand if you want something cool and innovative.
But god damn. You just wear a Rolex for a couple years and it looks hazy and corroded and worn down. Not acceptable at the price point boys. Just isnt.

They're just fine. And they look better on a nice leather strap anyway.

Why do mechanical watches need to be serviced but quartz watches don't
>>
>>18754156
Because mechanical watches are shitty, and quartz watches are good.
>>
>>18754156
Quartz does need serviced but less. The mechanical has 800 parts and a lot of them move and slowly but surely wear down and this affects the size and thus the speed of them doing their job and throws off the time accuracy
>>
>>18754156
Quartz watches are basically just a little circuit board inside. Other than the occasional battery or capacitor there really isn't anything a person could service, if your movement goes bad it just needs replacement. At very least it's generally cheaper and much less hassle to get a replacement movement.
>>
>>18754156
Quartz also needs servicing if a part stops working, or moisture gets inside, or its time to change gaskets for water resistance.
>>
>>18754156
Changing the battery on a quartz every two years should count as servicing. It also polutes more.

changing battery every 2 years VS servicing every 10 years

Are you serious that the oystersteel looks worse after time than all the 316L watches? Idk if you talk from experience or just trolling (I never had a Rolex lol)
And the Blancpain Villeret or Royal Oak are not cheaper options, it’s better to go for a datejust than royal oak. As for Tudor or microbrand, Rolex is actually more innovative than them in terms of clasp and bracelets, so..

All of Rolex's more recent bracelet upgrades started with Tudor. The pelagos clasp is still superior to the submariner clasp.

Thoughts on Tissot?
>>
>>18754251
Meh. Okay if you want something cheapish and "swiss", but don't want a swatch. It's a watch for people who have fallen for the "muh swiss excellence" marketing that hasn't been true since the 60s, but are too poor for anything decent. Buy a vintage omega instead.

Tissot does some great watches on the dressy side and the PRX is an icon. It's positioned at lower to mid market by Swatch and the prices reflect that, but normal people see "Tissot" and think "Swiss watch, classy."

Buying vintage watches can be a mistake because service costs can be massive and you have no idea what condition the timepiece is in, or whether it's all authentic, etc. Older quartz watches are probably the safest if there's any significant money involved.

You don't need to use Casio's G-Shock app. There is an open source'd app, which is far better and transparent in how it works.

It's even been converted to a web app, which means you don't even need the app on your phone.

Totally agree with >>18754370
Tissot is a good affordable brand.
With Longines they are the two brands the Swatch group is doing well.

The PRX is a banger, iconic by itself, not just an AP copy.
They also have great historic models.
Not the best price/value ratio but no bad surprise on quality usually (like Luxotica for sunglasses).

Sisters. i just found the best JLC Master Control cope.

>Looks 99% like a JLC Master Control
>Balmain, actual brand that people know, doesn't sound cope like San ChingChong
>Swatch group, so some treshold of quality required
>Automatic (probably Powermatic of some sort)
>Can be found for 300

40mm, a little big for me but JLC MC are around that size.

If you can stretch your budget, I'd recommend a used ball engineer iii. It's chronometer certified, so for a mechanical watch it is highly accurate, it uses tritium tubes instead of lume, so even if you wear it at night it will always stay lit and the brightness won't wear off like on a traditional lumed watch, the design is pretty simple imo and you can get an aftermarket leather strap. Also comes in 36mm. They depreciate pretty hard so you can find used ones in the 1000-1500 dollar range if you're lucky. If you have to stick to the budget, I'd recommend a citizen eco drive or a quartz seiko like others have been saying. Take a look on the website and find one you like. The lume may prove to be an issue for you though, and I find that in your price range, any watch that uses tritium tends to be large and toolish, so keep that in mind. If you don't mind something digital and without a leather strap, a Casio A700 does literally all of that for like 30 dollars.

How do you like your chronomaster Herr Kofe? I am thinking about picking up one for myself at the end of this month.
