So this is the famous "/wt/" huh... the one you hear about all over The Chan from /a/ to /x/. The one general that has saved /fa/ as a whole and made this gay shithole board worth a visit or two.I was promised:>Japanese Bitches with fat titties >I was promised rich lawyers with collection far exceeding millions of dollars>Good coffee talk>High quality professional images that would make anyone at /p/ reconsider if he's good at what he does>A huge collection of pristine Weekdaters>A highly knowledgeable Omega connoisseur>Lots of Gold and Silver>Drunk posts on Friday nights>Qualified watchmakers going into autistic depth>Rolexes, Grand Seikos, Mosers, Omegas, Breguets, Credors, F.P.'s-->Wristshots on top of Japanese booty, sakura trees in the background, inside expensive cars, wristhots in Dubai, in Tokyo--Hell, I was even promised Guns and people wearing their watches on their dicks. I was also promised Cat posting and even someone posting his stool next to high quality swiss made watches. What I got instead is:>Chinese watches>300 posts, 12 images>30% of the posts deleted>People calling each other poorWords can not describe how disappointed I am. I guess rumors did get the better of me, I came with zero expectations and yet I am leaving with disgust and being mad at myself for falling for those said rumors. I am not even going to waste time calling you "people" names, because you're not even worth that much.

>>18751188This. I'm glad it was brought up early in the thread so people will have to see it for a few days. None of any of this means anything. Buy what you like that won't set you back too much and wear it with pride. I've never judged anyone for how much their watch did or didn't cost and neither has anyone here. They just act like cocks online because they're insecure.
>>18751189Tough shit. Report me. Report all my threads and get them all deleted and make one you approve of, faggot.
>>18751188You're damn right. When I've seen women care about goylex watches it was merely because those women were targeting guys who were cashed up in order to fleece those dudes for new handbags and shit like that, possibly even marriage + divorce. They knew that all they had to do, to make that guy give them w/e the fuck they wanted, was to compliment his watch and gush about goylex and gas up the ego of the guy. Those guys get financially raped by these women over and over. It's like a rite of passage for the goylex faggots.
>>18751194>goylex>back to tiktokWhile I agree with you on some things, your style is getting stale fast.
New Casios
>>18751196it's just facts. goylex is a brand for goys. Keep up with the times. It's not like the early 2020s were a bunch of crypto retards jumped into goylex because the money printer was turned on and they wanted to beat inflation. If you're still thinking goylex has anything to offer you outside of performative masculinity and fake-status you're going to get destroyed in the next three years. goylex isn't something that can become stale, it just is the truth, and the truth needs zero defense - it simply is. What needed defense was the marketing and hype and bullshit that people were entranced by, and right now and moving forward, that is all dying a pretty swift death and shall continue to do so.
>>18751199Goys? So specifically not jewish people? So 98% of the populace? What does jewshit have to do with anything here? Your brain is broken, dude. Rent free.
>>18751201You have to understand something...It's very effeminate not to state the thing as it actually is. Goylex consoomers are, by their demonstrated nature, absolutely effeminate. Genuine masculine men, of great achievement, have built companies that manufacture quality functional watches. However, effeminate goylex consoomers use linguistic tricks in an attempt to undermine those companies and the watches, calling them 'shitters' - these goylex faggots would never, ever, call a functional seiko watch a 'shitter' in front of Shinji Hattori. They would never do it, they're too pussy. They're effeminate. These goylex faggots are being destroyed now. Over and over. Remember the final piece: Goylex consoomers buy goylex watches and then seek validation from other men. That is goyim faggotry in abundance. This was considered something to aspire to. Not any more. That age is over.
>>18751202>When you decide to make cartoonish antisemitism your entire personality

>>18751194>>18751199>goylexYou're so retarded that you thought that the word "goyslop" was pejorative because of goy alone. But it's the association of the words goy+slop(food for pigs) that make it an insult "goy=pig", retard. If you wanted to insult Rolex you should have said "Rolexslop" "Roslop" "Swisslop", you dumbfuck.
>>18751206Yeah man I'm actually 4ft8 and I have horns and my back is like a fucken carpet. Keep spending your money on overpriced trinkets, you're impressing other men! Wow!
>>18751208Actually goylex is perfect. There was never any action to "insult" the company, you've misinterpreted. Sell your goylex now man.
>>18751209>you're impressing other men!Oh, this is all because of your failures with women? Oh, buddy, that has nothing at all to do with your watch. You're just a genetic dead-end and women can smell it on you. Their instinct to breed causes them to be repelled by your defective genes.

>>18751271The watch industry is a laughable scam. "Swiss Made", "60%", "Made in Japan". Most are are just assembled there, not made there. It should be "Assembled in ....". "Heritage", "timeless", "luxury", "limited edition", "exclusivity", mass produced yet "made by artisans", marketing tactics/endorsed by entertainers, adverts selling emotion, from the major watch brands to micro brands, it's all the same illusion. Most of them are just sourced from Chinese factories and sweatshops in batches, while they also mass produce the cheap Aliex knockoffs.

Bros I made 12k on a retarded 10x Microsoft bet I made but I wasted it all simping for a content creator. She said she's trad and wants a quiet cottage life with children etc. I was stupid enough to pull a move then and spend it all on 1v1 sessions tryna build a bond with her..She just ended up taking a three month trip to the global south with the profits she made with this "series".I feel so fucking retarded and used. I will never have my dream watch ever..Unless I find another stupid 10x bet that will hopefully come true. What companies or instruments should I look into? Will the Sub hold its value for the next 15 years? That's the watch I'm aiming for.
>>18751342Just get a superclone at this point. Goylex is now using AI acoustics for authentication, visual inspection doesn't cut it anymore. That's how good these clones are. The superclone industry will find a way to pass that acoustic authentication. The ratio of clones vs gen out there is 20:1 Alot of gentards also have superclones in their watch collection. Fools fooling fools, it's all an illusion.

>>18751342LOL, is all that shit about being a findom faggot true???You honestly thought some online grifter was going to move into a cabin with you and have traditional babies you could homeschool and not vaccinate and turn into little racist chuds? Are you sincerely admitting that here as if people will identify with your plight and relate to your folly???Or is this bait?? I really can't fucking tell anymore. It would not surprise me if you are honestly that pathetic of an incel AND think a fucking Rolex is now the solution to happiness and a good longterm investment.
>>18751368I mean why wouldn't she?
>>18751371Because there's one of you every week and it's more profitable to take his money and then the next guy's. Plus she'd never actually respect a man like you. What you attempted has never worked for anyone. You could have bought a mail order bride who'd probably be half true to you, but you could never, ever have what you wanted the way you tried to get it. You're probably not the guy and it's probably not even a true story, but everything I posted is true and if you don't know that I pity you. You've got a lot to learn about the world and especially women. But people who try to have online relationships and send money to curry favor don't know anything about the real world so they do actually try shit like that and fail. I just never expected to see anyone admitting to it, even on an anonymous forum. OOF
>>18751374So you're a misogynist and a materialist, yet you still can't understand the value of a Rolex?
>>18751350I have 9 or 10 Timexes now. Maybe more. Lost track. So many great options new and old and every single one of them is affordable. You can grab one at Walmart or get a classic that will last another 50 years.
>>18751377No, no, and I suppose yes. Though that really had nothing to do with Rolex at all. haha, what is it with you people and Rolex anyway? Why do you have so much love for them? I doubt you'd be so defensive if you didn't regret your purchase. You probably don't even have one but your identity is tied up in believing the hype and you feel threatened when people expose how retarded it is and laugh at you.But you can always just keep calling us 'poor' as if that shuts us up.
>>18751331LmaooooooKeep going anon. Put these goys in their place !
>>18751227That is beautiful. What is that?
>>18751380Calling people 'goys' is like calling people 'cisgendered'. You're going out of your way to marginalize normality. Jews are at most 1.5% of the population. Statistically nearly everyone is a 'goy' and only jews call us that. I really don't think people throwing that word around realize what it means.
>>18751132This one is also beautiful. For a second I thought “Eszeha” was some random Chinese brand until I googled it lol. That looks incredible.
>>18751385And if you discovered it was a random Chinese brand your opinion of the watch would change and you'd realize you were "wrong".
>>18751384What do you think would be a better term? Goylex really works because not only is it similar to the word Rolex but it transmits the idea of “fools who are easily fooled and fooling then is the right thing to do because they are so foolish”.But if you offer up a different term that describes it as well, or better, I would consider switching to it.And the ppl that actually own Rolexes should just be happy to let these people “punch up”. The fact that they punch up only confirms your status. That is how you gracefully handle banter from lower status people. It’s the answer to “how do I respond without sounding mad or cucked” question. Just let them. You’re the one with the power.>>18751386To be honest, I would’ve said something like “damn that looks so nice… I guess you really can buy something nice without breaking the bank and brand name doesn’t mean much”. But obviously it does mean a lot *to those who know*. To those who don’t know, they will still see a really nice, fine looking watch.
saw this guy wearing his goylex and he was gossiping about how his favourite streamer, some random e-girl, was going to move in with him any day now. He said "I've been developing the relationship for a while now, I even mentioned it to my AD in the goylex store and the AD was very impressed with me."
>>18751389Goys are not fools because we are all fucking goys. Stop avoiding that huge conflict and just stop posting 'goylex'. I bet a lot of jews own them too. They DO have all the money, right? Probably dozens of Uncut Gems type stores selling them to other jewish people. A Rolex snob would change his mind on liking the Chopard if he found out it was affordable.
>>18751198Casio time
>>18751392>Uncut>jewsLMAOOO!!!!!
>>18751392It’s a false equivalence, though. Because even though we are all goys, not everybody owns a Rolex. Very few people do. From a normal person’s standpoint, it’s financially retarded to spend so much money on a watch. So the joke is that Rolex owners are fools, much like Jewish people think goys are fools. So, goylex. There you have it. It works.
>>18751400Suggesting jews believe they are superior is a bigoted broad generalization stereotype. I don't mean some pixelated footage of an Israeli man saying as much in Hebrew with subtitles.Scumbag.
>>18751395nice colour on that one
>>18751403Read my post again.I said “Jews believe goys are fools”. I did not say “Jews believe they are superior”.Thanks, JIDF.
I know I'm not the only one.
>>18751422A single normal person wouldn’t do this… someone, maybe even a group of people, is getting paid to do this.
>>18751421How are those things dissimilar? The words are different but the sentiment is the same. If you think someone is a fool by definition you think you are better than them. You are judging them. Don't give me your semantics. Also, the JIDF thing is suggesting now that I'M Jewish when I've made it clear that I am not.Why are you here stirring the shit instead of just discussing watches? Why can't you fucking people just stay on /pol/ where you belong? The Jews are not inherently related to every fucking topic in the world, you know. I remember even five years ago you could come to this website and go days without seeing some shit about jews. Now you people have infested every board and nearly every thread, foisting your obsession on hobby discussions where there's no connection. It bugs me to have to read it constantly and it's exhausting to try and fight it. I feel sorry for you that your brain is now wired to try and fit jews into everything. Must be exhausting for you too.
>>18751426Paid to care about watches? Really? Is this part of that "reseller" or "shill" conspiracy shit again? You need to pull your schizo head out of your ass. Sometimes, even most of the time, things are just what they purport to be. Not some secret undercover sinister plot to deceive you or get you to buy something.
Why are you people so nutty and suspicious and distrustful?
>>18751427Okay. You still haven’t proposed an alternative term to “goylex”. I’m genuinely eager to hear anything you can come up with.
>>18751428>Relax, saar… relax and… buy the watches.
>>18751433There doesn't need to be one. You can easily make fun of Rolex without making some unclever derogatory nickname that is awkward and doesn't really work. "Poolex" I've seen and it's just as stupid. That way of disparaging things is stupid. Do better.
>>18751435>saarDon't bother with that shit. Few here are as pale as me. I'm not trying to sell anything. I buy a lot of watches and I share my enthusiasm. I'm constantly reminded that my "shitters" are of no consequential retail value anyway so even if I wanted to sell them, which I don't, I would not profit. Stop being so jaded and cynical and trust people more. Not everyone here is some foreign scam artist, you paranoid cunt.
this all began because materialistic faggots were talking shit about perfectly fine and functional watches remember that
>>18751436>PoolexFUCKING KEK!!!!
>>18751450Poorlex.
>>18751395Great color combination. Reminds me of those 90s paper cups that have the blue and purple steaks across the middle. You know the one. I like it.
All I'm saying is that the minute you speak to an AD you're functionally delivering your dignity onto a sacrifical altar and alleviating your very existence from the burden of attempting to appear like you have any kind of dignified meaning, purpose, or sense of human spirit - you are now, and always will be, a toy puppet to be manipulated by the marketing team of Rolex that spends millions every year to gape your asshole (financially speaking) for the sake of bettering their books. They churn out mass market steel watches that you then loftily hold up as some kind of sanctified holy object and your spiritualize the acquisition of it as if you have now been blessed and are above the masses. Listen fucken retard a few decades ago dudes who actually did jobs were buying those watches for fucken work. Not to gloat to some other insecure, vapid, functionally soul-raped about the status they now have because they sucked the sweat off the nuts of Daddy Rolex for half a year just so they could get the chance to spend their salary on a fucken steel watch. You Rolex Retards are fucken faggots, you are empty spirit-less beings, you have sacrificed your dignity, you are lower than animals that eat their own shit.
>>18751452This conflicts with the very high price of Rolex. It's like you have to larp as a guy with nothing but AP and Patek and the other six figure untouchable shit, and then you have no one here to talk to because realistically no one has or will ever have those.
After lengthy discussions with my watch mentor and self analysis I've come to the conclusion that all watches are shitters.Yes, ALL watches. Your Rolex is a shitter because you overpaid for outdated brand slop. Even your Casio is a shitter, but at least it's cheap. You may think this seems depressing and defeatist, but it's no use trying to argue against logic. For me, this revelation ties horology to something called positive nihilism; nothing really matters and that's a good thing! You can do whatever you want, go anywhere you dare, eventually you'll still end up in the same place. This way of thinking has led me on a true path of discovery in horology. I am not seeking status recognition, I'm not trying to impress anyone, I am simply following my heart, buying what I truly want and I'll continue doing so till the day my short stay on this ball of dirt is over. All watches are shitters, and that's a good thing.
>>18751454>you are lower than animals that eat their own shitSooo…. back to Goylex then?
Guys I just want to share with you all that I FINALLY picked up my Rolex Daytona! Yes! thoughts on Hamilton?
>>18751608Hamilton is a mixed bag because they have a few amazing watches, they have a number of watches that are maybe kinda cool but it depends on your taste, and then they have a sea of trash. The khaki fields are almost all good, as pretty much everyone will tell you. The Jazzmaster daydate is cool if you want a dressier khaki king. Some people like the boulton but I'm pretty sure they are only making quartz versions now and they're on the expensive side for swiss quartz watches. The new dive watches with the wave dials are pretty good but they're kind of just worse in every way compared to the Mido wave dial divers. But they're also much less expensive so maybe you like that. The ventura is pretty iconic but not going to suit everyone. There's a lot of good stuff there.
>>18751126I'm not normally a watch fag, how do I not get ripped off buying a new watch? Looking at the teal Seiko Alpinist (spb503), am I a sucker if I pay MSRP? What price should I be holding out for, $800~ USD? Where do I find deals on new watches? Am I a sucker for wanting new?
>>18751626Why do you want this particular watch all of a sudden? Have you looked at other brands? How much are you willing to spend?
>>18751249I'm sure it has nothing to do with Seiko raising their prices (but not their finishing, QC, or materials) and doing nothing but re-releasing old classics at 3x the price

>>18751650I wanted a blue faced watch with a bracelet, because the watch I have now is green faced and the leather strap stinks in the summer. I was looking at Hamilton because that's what I already had and saw some media about the blue faced khaki king I believe it was called that was recently released. Started looking into it's competitors and got sold on the story of the alpinist a bit, and liked the design more than what I had been looking at. Looking for under $1000, but I'm not familiar with watch selling business practices, are 20% cuts off MSRP common place? Kind of want it new just because I don't buy them that often, so want one that feels exclusively mine.

>>18751735>Kofe time.Your Citizen is hot!My favorite on an expensive Hirsch leather strap. Tiny classic watch. Glass is scratched a bit, but my watchmaker said he can replace it with sapphire. Sometime in the future, bro. What I find funny is it's the same size as my Casio A158, but this Seiko is called V158. What a coincidence.
>>18751890So is it possible to replace the glass in any watch with sapphire? Like for example if I wanted to “upgrade” my Casio?Looks classy and clean. I’ve got an identical Solar Seiko on my wishlist. What’s considered more “dressy” or “formal”? Bracelet or leather band?
>>18751961To a certain point, yes. I've yet to find anyone making heavily domed sapphire like some old acrylic glass watches used, and the way they were pressed into the cases wouldn't be possible with something brittle like sapphire anyway. Weird flat sizes will probably require custom work, with minimum order requirements, so I hope you've got 9 buddies with the same watch. Most watches are easy enough to swap out for 10-20 bucks.

>>18752344No biggie, white and black dials are masterrace anyway. I don't know why companies are so afraid of unconventional fonts in 2026
>>18752348Yeah. That's the one area they don't seem to experiment much. Only on 'designer' quartzes that no one takes seriously. You'd think there'd be someone doing retro numerals. I don't really follow microbrands that much though. Someone's gotta be doing it. It'll have a miyota 8000 in it but it'll be $500 because it looks real cool. That's what I tend to think of most microbrands.
>>18752352Nah, no one's doing it. I've been in the market for a watch with bold gothic numerals like the ones you see on old ww1 pocket watches and i've never seen a modern interpretation that isn't a straight reproduction. If there are any numerals at all they're always minimalist bauhaus lettering or breguet. Been looking into printing my own dials recently and it's a pain in the ass.

>>18752330That looks good on your wrist which isn't small. Idk why omega stick with such large and thick watches.
>>18752440>Idk why omega stick with such large and thick watches.Omega's kind of stuck. Their decidedly mid watches are doing reliable sales. They're going OK but they're also firmly mediocre. They (Swatch) don't want to upset the apple cart.If they decided to go full high-tech (which actually used to be an Omega hallmark), they risk alienating their core consumers of mid-level managers who drive Acuras. If they decided to go full vintage, it would be an admission that everything they've done for the past few decades has been shit.In terms of size and thickness...they're getting there, if slowly. The updated 3861 Speedmaster Pro Hesalite is the thinnest one ever. The new Planet Ocean is smaller, thinner and more wearable than the generation that preceded it.
>>18752470>Their decidedly mid watches are doing reliable sales.is this referring to seamaster and AT?
>>18752470The problem is the coaxial movement is just too thicc and they don't want to admit it was a big mistake. Omega used to have beautiful style but now they just do thick, overpriced watches.
>>18752508>The problem is the coaxial movement is just too thiccThat's a myth that keeps getting debooonked and then comes back. Probably because it's the only thing Omega does that can be a rational explaination for their case thickness. In reality, the co-axial movements are typically only a few tenths of a millimeter thicker than their Rolex counterparts. The difference can be overcome with clever case construction.Clear casebacks also add a few tenths of a millimeterDomed crystals add a few tenths. It all adds up.The simple fact is that Omega designers simply choose to make thick watches and there hasn't been enough pushback from the buying public to demand thinner watches across the range.
>>18752512If we take the nicest mechanical Aqua Terra, the 2503.50 from the 00's had the Omega 2500 and was 11.5mm thick. The 2500 movement itself is a co-axial made from a modified ETA 2892 and is 4.1mm thick. It got replaced by the 231.10.39.21.01.001 with the Omega 8500 at 13.5mm thick. The 8500 is in-house and measures 5.5 or 5.6 mm thick depending on variant. So going in-house for the co-axial movement did cost them 1.4mm or so, which is most of the increased thickness.I have the quartz version of the 2503.50 (2517.50) and it's fucking great btw
>>18752521>the Omega 2500Is that the one that kept grenading itself until the fourth version before Omega finally gave up and stopped trying to kitbash the coaxial into the 2892 and instead made the 8xxx series?
>>18752526From Reddit>The Omega 2500 series was... problematic to say the least.>The movement is based on a top grade 2892 movement, but the escapement was replaced by a Coaxial escapement,>At first they ran at 28,800 BPH (Revision A), but then many customers started having to service their watches becuase the seconds hand would stop at some positions (mostly between 45 and 50 seconds) due to a toque issue with the escapement,>They tried to tweak it a bit in Revision B to see if they could fix it but revision B was also quite unreliable, Revision C had the first real solution to the issue which was done by reducing the beat rate to 25,200 BPH to reduce the stress on the barrelwheel and escapement, i had one of these and no matter how well they adjusted it, they couldnt get it under 4 seconds a day (which OK for a cronometre grade watch, but its more a pass then a good),>In revision D they redid the entire escapement, and the lessons learned from the 2500 are still seen today in the 8500 and 9300 as the beatrate is still reduced to 25,200 BPH and has a double barrel to compensate for the torque issues with the escapement.>A 2500c based Planet ocean was the watch that make me give up on omega, the 2500 was a expensive experiment released to their clients, and the 8500 shows that instead of solving the issues and improving the coaxial escapement they just implemented the work arounds as part of the design, slowed down beat rate, double barrel, and god knows what else to compensate for the faults of that escapement design...Presumably that extra thickness is down to the double barrel of the 8500. So, it's ultimately due to the co-axial escapement, even if it's not quite as simple as "co-axial was always thicker from the outset".
>>18752532They've made a lot of strange choices with their later movements. Less serious than all thatnis the ceramic ball bearings in the rotor that you can hear when it turns. You wouldn't expect noisy rotors from a brand in this price point.
>>18752346>>18752470agree, I'd buy a smaller DSTOM if they would make one. It's just such a nice looking watch even if it's chonky. The only save grace is being ceramic. it would be pigfat in any metal

I think I might just settle for a resin g shock square as my daily watch.I have a full stainless steel diver already, it is unnecessarily heavy, scratches things like cars if you end up brushing against them with it.I also have a metal casioak with a resin strap. The steel parts still scratch stuff, the watch is a bit heavier than it needs to be, the tiny digital screen has poor legibility.I do have a bit of a utilitarian autism. After I get a watch, I enjoy it's coolness for some months, but later I ask myself does this thing deserve it's place on my wrist. Do you bros have any other suggestions other than g shock square?F91W I already have and it has poor water resistance for me, also it looks tiny on my wrist.
>>18752926Just get a lighter steel watch, and stop rubbing it against fucking cars.
>>18752926>I have a full stainless steel diver already, it is unnecessarily heavyY'know, you could get rid of a lot of that bulk if you optimized the clasp. But to be serious, I also fell for the F91W meme. >>18753030Rolex is a very often replicated watch that people are constantly being swindled over. I keep seeing videos of jewelers telling tales of people finding out some or all of their Rolex is fake.I think the idea is that with an "authorized" seller you can be guaranteed you're getting the real thing, brand new. Even paperwork is forged now. You can't trust anyone. But I don't get why Rolex is so appealing to people. It's not worth those prices or the silly hoops you need to jump through to get one. Perhaps that's what people like about them: the challenge. Fucking morons if you ask me. Or even if you don't.
>>18753037>Or even if you don't.and no one did
>>18753041LOL, I added that so you couldn't respond in the way you did and you just decided to anyway. Fucking morons want Rolex.
>>18753037When Rolex fakes are this good, it takes the point away from getting the real thing. For the Sub and Datejust, even an expert can't tell them apart from the genuine article without taking the case back off, and if they have a few genuine parts in the back even that's iffy. They're that good.I've also looked into the older generation Oyster Perpetual which are my personal dream watches and the best replicas still don't have the rehaut alignment correct, so my autism wouldn't let me order one. I personally wouldn't get anything that could be so easily faked. If you stick to watches that are reasonably priced, it becomes much less profitable to fake them perfectly, so you don't get 10/10 tier fakes of Longines, Tissot, etc.
>>18753045But don't you know that the more expensive they are the better they are? You must be POOOR.
>>18753046I mean kind of? You can always keep spending more and keep getting refinements, but it is very much diminishing returns after that 3000 to 5000 dollar range. This beautiful Longines is £2,250 and I doubt there's any watch that eclipses it for looks at any price in this dressy segment. If money literally meant nothing to me I'd consider a JLC Master Ultra-thin Moon or a Breguet over it, but it would be a coin flip.

If money literally meant nothing to me I'd consider a JLC Master Ultra-thin Moon or a Breguet over it, but it would be a coin flip.Go look at all of those in person, just comparing product renders online is not representative of reality. >>18753037>I don't get why Rolex is so appealing to peopleBecause it's not about the watch. Naturally it is going to be difficult for the probably on-the-spectrum watch enthusiasts on /wt/ to wrap their heads around because the obsession around Rolex is almost entirely social and not at all about the product itself. Yes they make good watches, and if you're getting one at retail you're not getting completely ripped off even if there is better value for money out there, but the 90% of the reason most people buy a Rolex is to flex on or impress non watch people desu. Even if your czapek or FP Journe is a more expensive, higher end watch, non watch people simply don't instantly recognize it thus it makes the value proposition essentially worthless to many of your run of the mill Rolex buyers.
>>18752961based
>>18753294>but the 90% of the reason most people buy a Rolex is to flex on or impress non watch people desu.I think you're overestimating the ignorance people have of the watch market.>I've made it in life, I want to buy a nice watch>What's a nice watch?Rolex is the first, and probably only, name that comes to mind. It's not about impressing people. It's about not knowing that any other nice brands even exist.I think that's the bulk of Rolex buyers, particularly the ones that buy the Datejust, which is the model that's responsible for over half of Rolex's annual sales.
>>18753339>>18753294Comments like this just lead me to believe you have no personal experience wearing rolexes day to day. Especially with the datejust, because a lot of people make fun of it for being the basic watch you get when you can't get the sub allocation but it's quietly the best and most unassailable watch in the lineup. The experience of winding and setting them is like nothing else in the price point, it's an absolute joy. The polish and luster is like nothing else on the price point. Even the basic sunburst dial on the datejust is amazing, and it's easy to make a sunbust dial that looks cheap but they've mastered the depth and how the dial changes in different levels of ambient light. The bracelets feel soft and silky to the touch. For a mass produced watch it's actually amazing what they're able to do.They're not the best watches on earth, and whether or not the little differences in quality over the ali express knockoffs is worth the extra money is subjective, but the difference is huge. It genuinely feels really good owning and wearing rolex. But if you disagree for whatever reason, that's fine, nobody needs to convince you to buy one.
>>18753397>delusional retard has to justify his purchaseI've been more impressed with literal 50 dollar bracelets and 30 dollar dials. Are they better than the 100 dollar clones? Sure. Would anyone notice a difference if you said it was a Rolex? No, and the unfortunate thing about a Rolex is that you buy it to show off. The one watch guy you meet every 100 interactions who goes "wait, that's not a real Rolex!" can be laughed off.

>>18753467Not like you have the money to buy anything other than aliexpress
>>18753474While I disagree that the finishing and quality for the price of your average Rolex is actually "good value", they are competitive at their price point, what's really retarded is the people who pay way over MSRP for these things. They're not that good, I mean you can get a VC Overseas chrono for damn near the same price as a Daytona, maybe even less desu. That being said, if you consider the fact that realistically no watch over ~1500 tops is actually "worth the money", Rolex starts to make more sense. The potential social gains, even if they are small at best, provide some level of value that a similarly priced Glashütte Original or whatever simply cannot.
>>18753497I think it looks awesome. Makes it look more rugged, outdoorsy looking. More like a field watch. GJ anon! I have a solar Casio that my parents found in a drawer new, in its box. It has both analog hands and a small digital display for the time/date/stopwatch/chronometer. It’s obviously dead from being in the drawer so many years, but it looks great; no rust or anything. Titanium milled clasp arrived, it's 5g, which is a nice upgrade over the steel one I originally bought, at 8.5g. There's also a decent amount of material removal on offer, I should be able to easily get it down to under 4g. With the custom clasp (still in the mail) we're looking at around a 9g total for a tool-less adjustable clasp.

>>18753875>I don't think it's that big of a deal if the watch doesn't have a toolless micro-adjustIt's one of those things that didn't exist for decades and now everyone has to have it or the watch is junk.No different than>Your watch isn't anti-magnetic to 25,000 gauss?>How do you even live with only 45 hours of power reserve?>Less than 500m water reserve? Is it a dress watch?>3Hz beat rate? Why not just use a sundial?
>>18752998Does Rolex do AR coating?
>>18753880Yes, but only on the underside of the crystal and, even then, they only started doing so in 2005.
>>18753880Depends on the year. They were pretty slow, but at least they do it properly, putting AR on the top is full retard.
>>18753883>putting AR on the top is full retard.Yeah that's stupid indeed. Doesn't Omega do that? That Bark Jack fag was complaining about his being scratched after half a year or so i think.
>>18753892I think Omega does that on some of their models. I know the Planet Ocean has double-sided AR for under-water legibility.Breitling also uses double-sided AR and uses this strange, blue-tinted compound.
>>18753810You're the troll here. You never asked politely. You keep insulting the guy at every turn. This isn't your thread. Fuck off.
>>18753914>the guylol don't talk about yourself in third poyson
>>18753920I just got here. I'm the OP. I think the dude is slightly annoying but you trying to police the thread and make him unwelcome is worse. Of course you're a paranoid nut who thinks everyone here is pretending to be other people. "Samefagging" you call it? You are pathetic.
>>18753879Once you have it you never wwnt to go back. If you prefer to wear a bracelet on the tight side it makes it so much easier to always have a comfortable fit even if your wrist swells. Without it you always have to wear your watch loose so if you swell it's still comfortable.
>>18753947>tight = comfortableWhat?
There’s already a low-reply-count /wt/ thread. Since this one isn’t getting bumped anymore, what say we move over there and fight some more about fictional chinesium bracelet clasps and which metal circle is better than the other?>>18751355
>>18753982That was the REAL /wt/ though. Wasn't it supposed to sway everyone over there with its promise of no 'shitters' or 'cope'?Hmmm, why did that not work out?
>Ask chatgpt for a watch, solar and radio controlled, nothing special>It suggests a 1100€ watch to meYou guys are crazy, aren't you?
>>18752121What's the blue one?
>>18754308You can get such a Seiko for 200-400, a Casio for less than a 100.
>>18754422My point exactly. Why does chatgpt think the average guy asking it for watch advice is willing to pay a thousand bucks? Considering this casio for 240€.
>>18753925ironically i'm not the guy you were talking to before lmao talmbout paranoid
>>18754436Why do you people keep using fucking A.I. and expect it to not spit out some retarded bullshit??Stop using them and just search like you used to. You'll find you save a lot of time that way.
