Tell me about your underrated/obscure niche finds, /frag/.
>>
>SOTD: Viride
I feel like I rarely ever see this mentioned when people talk about Orto Parisi's fragrances, but I love it. Smells like absinthe & herbs, or a incredibly nice aftershave
>>
>>18754277
It’s not niche but it’s definitely obscure. I have a 50mL of Chanel Antaeus Sport. It’s pretty good, but it’s definitely not a gym fragrance.

>SotD: Floris Neroli Voyage
Basically what I've been looking for: lightly aquatic, citrus, floral. More oily than soapy, not particularly 4711-like. It also has that recognizable Floris base (woody amber musk), so if you already like their Santal for instance it's a very safe buy.

yes

Wore Prada L'Homme Intense yesterday to my last day at work, what a soft and classy frag, I see why people pick this one as an office frag. Dunno if my expectations were wrong when it comes to longevity but it felt a little weak, 4 to 6 hours tops.

AdP any day
>>18754317
>Afnan
Actually consistently good, the only one where I can see the shilling being justified but would still sample individual frags myself
>FA and Rayhaan
They have some hits, some misses so sampling necessary. Wearing Vulcan Feu rn, I like the fruity snake frag, but I've tried Cocoa Morado and it's weird.
>the rest
Overhyped and shilled. Still want to sample Hawas Viper since I want a Black Afgano dupe, if it's good I'll start recommending Rasasi

I bought Bel Ami Vetiver (better price at random discounter), but both are equally great. Still, Rocabar mogs both and Eau de Gloire as well.

Same here, I don't know why.
>>
>>18753338
actually looked inside a frag store that I thought only served women, and there was a wall of men's colognes. had a whiff of some Chanels and some others I missed, the fucking seller hag was hounding me all the time and i spilled my spaget so forgot to sample cahsee and some else. got the idea of 10 frags now, but on paper is just like an outline of a painting, a lot more relaxed and prolonged aearing is needed to have a concrete opinion. im not even a nigger ffs

that said ill put allure homme edt on potential buying list

People should wear what they wanna wear as long as it's not a nuisance upon their surroundings.
>>
>>18754360
How many people in an average day do you A) Smell any fragrance on and B) Smell enough fragrance to be a "nuisance"?

Oversprayers are a thing. People who wear super heavy shit in july are a thing. People who think wearing perfume replaces showering are a thing. I am not saying these are everyday encounters, but those people are out there and they can't be bargained with. They can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop... ever, until you are choked out or hammered into submission by a scent-induced migraine.

Is Hermes Equipage good in 2026? Rate/review?
>>
>>18754368
It still has its early 70s character. It’s not quite as strong as it used to be, but it’s still pretty solid.
I think it’s really good but the comments I typically hear are something along the lines of “old man fragrance”.
It gets “old man” more often even than things like Yatagan, Guerlain Vetiver, Brut, or Eau Sauvage.

>>
>>18754329
>Rocabar
Doesn't it last for an hour?
>>
What's the point of a fragrance if it has poor performance?
>>
>>18754386
Why wear something that has such insane performance that it is a massive imposition on everyone in your vicinity.

It’s the scent equivalent of the guy on the train watching twerking videos on his phone at full volume without earbuds.
>>
>>18754393
I didn't say anything about that, but even if we were to compare the two extremes at least the insane performance actually does its job... that is to create a new smell. As opposed to just fucking vanishing? Might as well not spray anything.
>>
>>18754386
A frag's identity is scent first and foremost. Sometimes you gotta decide between worse scent or worse performance.
>>
>>18754397
This. Sometimes the short-lived, ephemeral nature of a great fragrance is only possible if it’s not long lasting.

Performance, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve realized is beloved by turd-worlders because they are 1. Cheap and don’t want to spray a lot of something that is expensive to them and 2. Want something strong enough to cover the fact they don’t shower.
>>
>>18754399
I personally like smelling my own fragrance when I spray it on myself and that is not possible if the performance is weak.
I guess I could keep bringing my wrist to my nose every now and again but that seems annoying to do frequently.
>>
>>18754386
you like the way it smells
>>
>>18754386
Performance is relative to the task.

Take the classic “poor” performer: D&G The One. It lasts between 4-6 hours, tops. It’s a date night/evening fragrance. How long does it really have to last?
It doesn’t project but your date shouldn’t be more than a few feet from you anyway. She doesn’t need to be able to smell you from across the room because then you’d be toxic at short range.
If a date lasts longer than six hours, you’re either already at your (or her) place and you’re headed there now. You don’t want to choke her out when she’s got her face buried in your chest.
>>
>>18754402
lasts maybe 2-3 hours for me and only can smell it if my nose is right against the area i sprayed not a few feet
>>
>>18754354
which one
>>
>>18754404
Your date can still smell it very distinctly, don’t worry.
>>
>>18754317
The best dupes I tried were from Fragrance world, then Rayhaan.
>>
Women don’t seem to complain endlessly about their perfumes’ performance. It seems to be a men-only thing. Why is this?
>>
>>18754386
To flex on the poors
>>
>>18754411
this
being fixated on nuclear performance is brown coded
>>
>>18754407
Yea I guess I'm just trying to combat my own nose blindness by wearing strong smells, to hell with everyone around me I just want to smell my own fragrance...
>>
>>18754410
Women use plenty of additional products that are scented.
>>
>>18754404
Wash your hands with hot water. The heat will instantly carry your frag's sillage to your face and you will see how much it is still there. Happens to me everytime I wash my hands. Instant frag blast in my face.
>>
>>18754317
>Rayhaan
Genuinely does a good job for their price bracket.
>French Avenue
Hit or miss but I'll still buy a box if I find a random one at burlington or ross.
Its how I got a bottle of Vulcan Sable and I think thats a pretty cool fragrance. Super chocolatey patchouli
>Lattafa
Hit or miss
>Khadlaj

What's the smell in old perfumes that is very distinct 100% of the time? You smell it and "yeah it's old". More alcohol? Like with barbershop fougeres as you'll immediately know :yeah this smells like grandpas shaving cream".

Sometimes you are in a professional setting, driving in a car with someone etc. There is a time and place for lighter performing fragrances, you don't need to wear Kerosene Followed every day

And the lightest profiles will never perform that well. Natural smelling citrus fragrances or neroli are volatile
