If you want actual leather bottoms that hold up well for dancing then go up market 350-500$ range. Elephant leather & Stingray leather have to be fitted properly, they under no circumstances break in. Alligator leather is really weak so only reserved for dancing. Ostridge leather is higher end for work and hold up for a long time but most people can't afford to buy something like that unless they are committed to resoling it more than 3 times of which most boots shit themselves after the third resole.

Great in the snow and rain if you apply boot wax it becomes somewhat water proof but loses its breathability which is a decent trade off if you are hiking through the woods on short treks in the snow ie 5-10 miles, if you don't apply it then the breathability is pretty good which is why i don't apply it. I have sweaty feet so it's the only downside to loggers due to hits more ridged construction. To compare it to another boot they make that made me go for a logger i would say the corcoran marauder due to its high heel. This higher heel than the marauder gives you a much more stable walking posture when moving through rocks, uneven terrain or bush. I find the soles are pretty good for wet conditions and snow its good for me but for others they might want to consider wool socks if you are deep in the snow. Comfort wise its great 9/10 but you gotta break them in for about a solid week to depress the leather. Go with Ariat insoles so you retain the internal foot height. I have also had zero luck with gel inserts.
