Its only downside is that the bezel isn't bidirectional
Is it an NPC choice that my grail is a Submariner?
>>
>>18782242
Totally. Least unique and interesting watch. Most overpriced for what you get. Good luck buying one without "developing a relationship" with a salesman or "A.D.".
>>
>>18782242
You'd have to go for either a GMT Master or Yachtmaster if you want a bidirectional bezel. And the Yachtmaster bezel sounds and feels really squishy and nasty, so it's actually just down to the GMT master.

They used to make all black GMT bezels, I wonder if the black beauty will ever come back.
>>
>>18782230
I like the simplicity of the Rolex Explorer
>>
>>18782246
Nah this shit just looks like a submariner
But unidirectional bezel is not a dealbreaker imo.
submariner really is the most balanced watch, and more useful than a datejust/op just because of the bezel.
I never understood why people love chronographs so much. There is nothing more elegant than rotating bezel for having a "stopwatch"
>>
>>18782246
You could also try and find a Turn-o-graph, but that's a lot dressier-looking.
>>
>>18782250
I was talking to someone who wants a submariner but doesn't like the unidirectional bezel. "It looks like a submariner" is a pretty retarded, no-shit kind of reaction.
>>
>>18782250
Chronographs are a much more precise means of timing things for when seconds and fractions of seconds matter. If that matters to you and what you want to time with it then chronograph is kind of non-negotiable.

So what are your thoughts on these Chinese Super Clones i keep hearing about?
>>
I don't think about them at all.
>>
>>18782421
Last thread a bunch of people got triggered because someone bought a mid tier submariner clone.

Rolex owners in particular I think are really seething. Everyone can see the writing on the wall that if even verified dealers can't tell the real from the superclone without sending it off to Switzerland for weeks of costly disassembly, the secondary market for retail watches is going to collapse.

Vintage watch owners are sitting pretty and that value may even go up since at least you can verify it's genuine - can't convincingly clone a patina yet.

>>
>>18782453
And yet, besides that the colour doesn't exist, nobody could demonstrate that it was a fake. Curious.

Do you think the seethe comes from genuine Rolex owners, realizing their 10k watch that cost 1k to produce will soon be worth 2k? Or is it people who can't afford a Rolex anyway seething that someone took the easy route?

You could definitely do so and people did.
>even if they made a green gold submariner that's not the green they would have used
>the color of the gold is cheesy
>the printing on the dial is the wrong color
>the date and magnifier is horrible
Among other things.
>>
>>18782466
>the colour on this watch that doesn't exist isn't right
>the gold is too gold coloured
Why even write these? Just making my point.
You're right about the magnifier though, that's the only tell from what I can see. It's not 2.5x, maybe its 1.5 or something. I have to suspect if the 300 dollar clones have only this flaw, the 500-1000 dollar ones certainly rectify it.

You also didn't answer my question - are you a Rolex owner, or a Rolex striver? Trying to pinpoint the source of the insecurity
>>
>>18782468
Yeah, I don't get why people fellate that brand so much. Not just here but everywhere. They let the name "Rolex" carry so much weight. It's silly.
I would feel stupid wearing one if I wasn't extremely wealthy. Even then I'd probably have more sense than to spend so much on one watch. They're worth maybe $2K in parts and labor. The rest is to pay Leo and golfers endorsement money.
>>
>>18782468
Compare that green to the actual rolex green. The brand uses a specific green.

Alsoncompare the gold to an actual gold submariner. Also compare the finishes on the bracelet, the fake looks terrible.

Anon, it's a colour combination that doesn't exist. We've been through this twice.
>The brand uses a specific green.
No it doesn't. Rolex uses several shades of green. See pic.
>Alsoncompare the gold to an actual gold submariner.
The gold looks the same. The clones use real gold, you know that right? They use something called gold plating, so there's a very thin veneer of gold that inevitably chips off with enough damage. It's actually very cheap. In any case, like the green colour, they use a variety of gold alloy combos. Just do a google image search, the gold is in all different colours.
>>
The gold here looks fake too, right?

>Do Submariner green rolexes all use the same color of green?
>No, the greens differ between models, and sometimes between examples of the same model.
>16610LV “Kermit” (2003-2010): The green is on an aluminum bezel insert with a black dial. It’s a brighter, yellower, almost lime green.
>116610LV “Hulk” (2010-2020): The green is a ceramic (Cerachrom) bezel with a matching green sunburst dial.
>26610LV “Starbucks” (2020-present): This has a ceramic bezel with a black dial. The green is darker and more muted than the Hulk, closer to a deep forest or Starbucks green.

You are saying this based on what? San Martin and some other brands come with a warranty of 2 years. They even care about public image and send needed parts to random redditors for free and apologise for the thing being broken.

What more can you ask from such a cheap brand? If something breaks after the warranty period, just take it to any normal watchmaker for repair, they use common movements anyway.

This. I've had way more issues with my non-Chinese watches.
>>
Some vintage Chinese watches are fucking kino if you are ok with manual wind

I didn't like last year's release either.
I was specifically looking out for it since I loved the purple/orange color scheme and the ghosts from the previous years, but then last year it turned out to be a bare metal affair with no color.

Nigga you insane
>>
>>18782899
Is this a thick watch, or is his strong bristly hair pushing the watch away from his skin? It's like his hair is rejecting the shitter.

The more you spend the more you get. Especially in China where prices are amazing. Did you see that micro rotor movement? Find any other brand offering a cool original design with top specs and finishing and everything you see there.
>>
>>18782947
Yeah, crushing authoritarianism and unethical working conditions are "amazing."

Specht & Söhne with multiple versions of the 38mm Murph now.

I'm not paying thousands more so some Swiss asshole can get $80/hr to buff watch parts in some idyllic snowy paradise.
>>
>>18782953
You could pay more to not perpetuate suffering and line the pockets of actual evil though?
>>
There are popular Swiss watch brands that source their parts and components from Chinese factories.
>>
>>18782952
They look terrible.

Not every Chinese factory is like the iPhone ones where everyone is suicidal slaves. The cost of living is lower and I'm sure plenty of people are content with their lives making these watches.
They do a great job.

>suffering
>evil

Fuck off with your silly exaggerations, dipshit.
>>
>>18782956
Being Chinese is not necessarily an indication of abuse. Producing and selling an entire automatic watch for $100 is. Tourbuillons under $1k is.
>>
>>18782959
What abuse? You don't understand anything. Labor is only one of the reasons they can offer low prices. China makes the steel for the world. What the fuck do you care? You don't own a competing watch company so you must just feel threatened that you overspent on non-Chinese watches. Pretending there's some moral reason to ignore such tremendous deals.
You're a fucking faggot, dude.
>>
>>18782960
>Labor is only one of the reasons they can offer low prices.
The others are backbreaking authoritarianism and inadequate safety.
>>
>>18782960
Yeah, everyone just needs to accept that greedy fucks decided for all of us 60 years ago that we need to "globalize" by moving nearly all industry and jobs to the third world so that western countries would no longer be able to sustain themselves but at least only the lesser slave races have jobs and abject poverty. It's worth it to get really shitty steel cheap. It's worth it to ship fruit produced in north america to thailand to be processed and canned and then ship it back here, instead of just canning the shit here. Just think of all that diesel being burned and all the people in north america that could have nice factory jobs with good pay producing domestic products, but Ping Ping needed the job more than them. FUCK I love globalization.

Yes, it sucks that the US doesn't make cars and watches and everything else in country and pay its employees a living wage.

But that doesn't mean I'm going to pay 5X more for essentially the same watch just because fewer of the Chinese parts are assembled in China. That's senseless logic.

Ping Ping will starve if I don't grab another shitter on sale.
>>
>>18782967
>It sucks that people aren't getting paid and treated ethically
>But being unethical gets me cheap shit, so fuck it
The absolute state of liberalism.
>>
>>18782970
What liberalism? You're a simpleton. Leave your retarded grasp of unrelated politics at the door.
>>
>>18782952
why not buy the murph instead?
>>
>>18782970

I'M not being unethical by buying cheap watches. It's not like everything you buy comes from happy unionized workers, you fucking hypocrite.
You have shirts and food and plastic garbage from 3rd world countries. You're surrounded by it. It's in you.
You don't even have a watch. You just want to argue because you have no life.
>>
>>18782973
I'm not paying $1,000 for a watch. I'm not buying the Specht either. But someone might want it. The draw is the plethora of available colors.
>>
>>18782974
>I'M not being unethical by buying cheap watches
You are though. They wouldn't be doing this shit if nobody bought it.
>>
>>18782972
It's a socioECONOMIC position.
>>
>>18782976
You can't prove anyone is suffering for those watches. And even if you could, it's quite a bullshit stretch to say anyone buying is cracking the whip.
I don't know why you're making such a disingenuous argument while living within the same system and living no differently than me or anyone else.
>>
Just draws the line specifically with cheap labor watches I guess. To serve your bullshit brand snobbery. Poser.
>>
>>18782979
I buy western made stuff at every opportunity. The trouble is it's become very difficult to find those opportunities. There's a lot of stuff that literally cannot be made in the west. Oddly enough it's mostly luxury goods where you actually have a choice, plus a lot of American and European tool companies.
>>
>>18782980
There are also popular luxury brands that subcontract the Chinese factories with Chinese laborers located inside the western country, or located in China. These luxury brands also subcontract South Asia and SEA labor.
>>
Are we gonna just skip the fact that little human labor actually goes into all affordable watches, including these chinese ones that we are talking about now?

Most of that stuff is made by machines, and a 3rd party movement (usually japanese) is installed.
>>
>>18782978
Have you never seen liveleak? How many liveleak factory accident videos have chinese text on them?
>>
>>18782998
>Pro tip: use data instead when backing up your claims instead of anecdotes
>>
shittercel you should move to china and work in a factory
>>
"Swiss made" watches only require 60% of the watch to be made in Switzerland. Guess where the other 40% is being made?
>>
>>18783027
You can do research and choose to buy watches made in Switzerland, Germany or Japan.
>>
Holy christ what an ugly shitter. You paid how much for that thing? Holy fuck youre a fucking idiot.
>>
>>18783034
The printed word 'Made' on the dial should instead be 'Assembled'.

Still cannot decide whether to get the black dial or white dial watch for my Saul Goodman project. Wanted to go with this Citizen instead of that digital watch, because I want to give it my own spin. I already have a black dial gold tone watch, but somehow it appeals to me more. The white dial watch seems more versatile to me. What does /wt think?
