Layton or Pegasus?
>>18788855why those two? have you tried them? I'd sample both and choose which one you like more. I'd pick Layton though.
Got my sample of this and damn it's good...I also got interlude black iris which I think smells like shit
>>18788857Yea I tried many but not all PdMs. I think my top 5 are Althair, Layton, Pegasus, Oajan and Herod.Herod is great smelling but the performance isn't that good rather get TF TV.I feel Oajan isn't as versatile, you could probably wear Layton and Pegasus in the spring and fall too not just winter, and I already got a bottle of Althair, wanna get my second PdM bottle.
Just blind bought this for less than 80 dollars. Thoughts?
NEW THREAD ((non retarded))>>18788928>>18788928>>18788928
>>18788895Very good indeed. Just bought the EDT version myself since I prefer the EDT versions of Guerlain fragrances.
I need pretty boy metro sexual scents. In the same vibe as br540 and another 13. Stuff that you could see a clean straight twink wearing
>>18788895definitely did the right choice by going with the edp
>>18788818I find Le 3e Homme far less distinctive with its lemon-candy opening quickly revealing the same tired carnation-and-rose heart that defined countless generic 70s masculines rather than elevating them. That so-called “manly dirtiness” from the carnation reads more like a musty, slightly soapy floral that feels dated and off-putting instead of cooling or balanced. The citrus vibe is ordinary at best and vanishes too fast to leave any lasting impression of uniqueness. It also lacks projection and longevity and then dries down into a bland musk that feels flat and uninspired rather than clean or easy to wear. It comes across as a forgettable office scent that modern noses will find more old-fashioned than charming.
>>18788855layton is just apple-lavender-vanilla spice, al haramain detour noir does it for like $25-35 and lasts forever, maison alhambra leyden or woods collection dusk if you want something a bit smootheroajan is that cinnamon-honey-vanilla gourmand shit, montagne wajan or lattafa raghba wood intense get you 80% of the way without paying $300 for a bottle of dessertif you're not a broke anon hermes ambre narguile or kilian angels share are actually better versions of the same warm spicy sweet vibe anywaystop coping with full bottles of pdm when the clones exist, your wallet will thank you
>>18788954>arab clonesI don't think I will

Notino is having a 15% sale, what should I cop?
What do you think of this?
>>18788963what brand are they carrying these days anyway?
>>18788972brands
>>18788971Honestly not sure what to make of the whole “melancholia” branding here. I get that they’re going for some nostalgic, reflective purple vibe with the bottle and the name, but then the main notes are cardamom, lavender, and a creamy coconut accord? Coconut feels like the complete opposite of melancholy to me, more like beach days, piña coladas, or sunscreen than sitting alone in a dimly lit Roman palace feeling contemplative.
>>18788977great point
>>18788954I tried angels share and I like the PdMs more, plus you can find PdM in discounters for like half off.My experience with arab frags had been bad, 95% of what I tried so far didn't smell good.
I sincerely hope all of you who suggest or even talk about middle eastern dupes kill yourselves. Life must suck being brown and poor
>>18788999Nice trips. What about Australian dupes?
>>18789004They get a pass because white
how shoiud i react when i get a compliment for wearing a cheapie? i don't want to be known as the cheap cologne guy at work
>>18789009For work, get an upscale but not luxurious signature frag, e.g. Diptyque
>>18789009what were you wearing? some dupe?
>>18789014the dreamer
>>18789009Say thanks and move on. If they insist on knowing what it is, just lie.
>>18789018Interesting. I've never smelled this one. How would you describe it? Just tell them you've forgotten the name or that you would to keep it a secret.
>>18789022to me it smells like clean laundry and light tobacco, really pleasant and inoffensive. but it seems like cheaping out on frags is a negative signal in a professional environment.
Today I bought:Issey Miyake pour homme EDPArmaf Dubai nights midnightLattafa JasoorThey're all very nice. Don't think I'm ever buying anything other than clones again tbqh
>>18789024>Don't think I'm ever buying anything other than clones again tbqhwhy though?
>>18789026Price basically and because my taste and sense of smell isn't that refined. I've smelled very expensive niche stuff at airports and whatnot and while they're nice, they don't smell so much better to me that I'm willing to pay 5-10x the price of an Arab fragrance. Same goes for designers. Jasoor smells very close to coral fantasy to me, why would I pay 3 times the price for Valentino then?
>>18789027Whenever I think of dupes I think of fragrances worth couple hundred dollars. I never consider that people might be trying to save $50 bucks. There is no correlation between price and ingredient quality but hypothetically speaking if cheap fragrances had cheaper ingredients that were easy to replicate it would make more sense to get clones of those fragrances. Clone houses probably already have this information but it would be cool if this information was public. Imagine if there was a factual report, not anecdotal, that said fragrance A has cheap and readily available ingredients so it's easy to find a good clone vs fragrance B has expensive natural and synthetic ingredients which would be hard to find a good clone of it. It would be very helpful.
Guys how do I get my office scent off my skin I want to wear my leisure frag
>>18789058I agree that 50 bucks isnt much but I'm frugal in general and it irks me to spend 100 on something when I could get basically the same thing for 50. >but it would be cool if this information was public. The mass spectrometer or whatever techniques they use for deducing the ingredients and ratios is probably a big part of their R&D cost so I doubt this is possible. >>18789061Ever heard of a shower?
>>18788971It’s my favorite out of the line and the only one I think is any good. The others simply don’t appeal to me but I can understand why people like them.
>>18789064The GC-MS are not cheap but you can even send stuff to a lab, the real cost is in deciphering what the machine spits out. It's not like the machine tells you it has rose, it tells you all the components of a rose garbled with everything else in the fragrance. Maybe with AI these things are easier but it's still a huge task to get it right. I think it's easier just to replicate the smell by someone who is trained and maybe they use the spectrometer to compare and pinpoint differences.
>>18789070Yeah pretty much this. I’ve sent a couple of bottles to a lab before and the PDF you get back is just a wall of 150+ peaks with names like “trans-β-ocimene 0.37%” and “unknown sesquiterpene 1.2%”. Zero “this is the rose note” labels. Turning that into an actual formula still takes someone who already knows what rose absolute, damascones, PEA, etc. are supposed to look like and how they behave in a blend. AI tools are getting better at suggesting matches, but they’re still only as good as the training data and they hallucinate accords all the time. Most of the serious DIY reverse-engineering I see still starts with a trained nose (or at least a very experienced hobbyist) building a rough skeleton by smell, then using the GC-MS just to hunt for the weird trace materials or exact ratios that the nose can’t quite lock in. Smell first, machine second is still the faster path for most of us.
>>18788971it's alright, bought it when it came out but barely wear it. reminds me of Le Beau Le Parfum, but not as good.
>>18789061shower, but in a pickle i rub my skin with some soap and towel it off
I LOVE this one but it smells nothing like any of these notes. Just straight up 100% cherry coke like I want to straight up drink it. Am I nose blind?
>>18789147Maybe you got the edp or some flanker i remember a few of those had cherry
>>18789148Yeah this is the EDP
>>18789147is it still new? my first impressions of a frag can be very different from the experience i get from repeated use.
Do you guys wear a fragrance when you're hanging with the boys? Feel like I'll get called gay
