All the 45+ year olds I know that are happily married have stories about meeting their partners at a "3rd place" that was truly like a home away from home. We don't really have that anymore. I guess some bars have a bit of a 3rd place vibe and really loyal regulars but none of us here are trying to spend 4+ evenings a week in a bar. As a 28 year old i'm grateful my childhood caught the tail-end of actually playing outside unsupervised until the street lights came on but my adult life is void of any meaningful friendships. My fiance and I only really socialize when we go to drink with another couple a few times a year.
