Anybody else think lean powerlifters have the best physiques? Guys like John Haack, Russel Orhii, Colton Engelbrecht, Derek Thistlethwaite to name a few. And yeah i know they are on the sauce but im talking about the unique physique guys like that build focusing on powerlifting with accessories

Yes, I call it the "football player physique" but I think it's not powerlifting specific, it's just their proportions/frame that make it look appealing compared to others, since if you look at him he pretty much has the mass and leanness of a bodybuilder but still looks thick and dense.
Like basically it's not something you can aim for, it's something that your genetics dictate.
Which I found that you can usually tell by thick joints & fingers.

He's still claiming natty?

Nah its from the compounds lifts. Big obliques, serratus, hip abductors, glutes, lowerback, spinal erectors, quads. All those muscles the compounds hit pretty hard and most bodybuilders/average gym bro is gonna focus more on other muscles to look proportional or whatever. Your right though football players have similar physiques, most sports that focus on compounds have similar physiques like rugby, wrestling, sprinting

It's called powerbuilding kind of a recent advent. Powerlifters also focus a lot on accessory work they're not really heavily diffent these days. China kind of btfod the world in Olympic lifting so almost everyone has adapted their methods to be bodybuilder amounts of copious accessory work and hypertrophy chasing then precompetition workups and consolidations like the Norwegian study. That's the current "meta" and there doesn't look like there's going to be a change any time soon.
