I'm having trouble understanding how to do barbell deadlifts repetitions and setsI have a 20 lb barbell with about fifty pounds worth of weights attached, but even then when I do 3 sets of 10 reps of barbell deadlifts it just feels like I'm squatting and then lifting something pretty light before putting it back down and like it's not doing anything for me. Maybe it has to be heavier, but even then it just feels like such an easy motion and exercise without much gain or reason for doing it, yet it seems like such a popular and central exercise for anyone who wants to lift or work out.Anyone have any advice they can provide for me on how barbell deadlifts are supposed to work or feel?
>>76569123It does have to be heavier, like at least x3 times assuming the 50 lbs is on one side not the total of both sidesYou're doing the equivalent of benching the ez curl bar now
>>76569123If it's too easy, then keep adding weight until it isn't.Just add the smallest amount of weight that you can, every single session. You'll start feeling it eventually. Also it shouldn't feel like a squat, your hips might be dropping too low. In the meantime while you're adding the weight, look up guides on YouTube.
>>76569138The fifty pounds is the total of both sides (25 lbs on each side) and then adding on the weight of the actual bar makes the total about 70 lbs
>>76569225There is no salvaging, that's too light for any variation including zerchers, RDL/stiff leg etcAt this point just replace deadlifts with good mornings if all you want is lower back and erectors firing
