I have this shit, prolly because i spend my teenager years playing videogames and never went out in the sun. It started to kinda hurt/ feeling blocked after 20 yo....im 28 now. What should i do now? Can i lift weights or it will destroy my spine more? Scoliosisbros what u do to improve ur spine monility plus to prevent more damage plus to look better?
>>76583343>prolly because i spend my teenager years playing videogames and never went out in the sunThe causes of scoliosis are mostly genetic though
>>76583343Listen to Uncle Scoobshttps://youtu.be/EJvKsOf0QG4?si=p4G4ej9iy5ql4a1ZMost important takeaway is NO SPINAL COMPRESSION (so no squats, deadlifts, overhead press etc)Don't risk it, its not worth fucking your spine up further
>>76583343You should lift weights, you shouldn't lift conventionally in any way shape or form though.Scoliosis is not curable, it's physically impossible to cure it is defined by the fact your bones have curved when they were soft and now are permanently stable in the curved position. It is a lifelong condition that will only get worst as the years go on.You must1. Be officially diagnosed as you need to know the exact angle and segment of the spine influenced (not optional)2. Spend the rest of your life gently mobilizing your entire body through calisthenics and stretches, while strengthening through weight training functional strength.3. Cope because it will get worst, you can stabilize for 99% of your adult life, but all humans show degenerative disc disease and muscle loss into old age to some degree.Once you reach this point scoliosis begins to exponentially degrade as the pressure from the angle applies weight at multiple times the amount as the degree increases. For reference when standing up tall your head applies 10lbs of force to your neck. With each five degree angle leaning forward your head applies *2,*3,*4 etc lbs of force to the neck.Apply this to your spine with way more than just 10lbs of starting weight and you'll understanding why it degenerates so much quicker. If you lift conventionally you'll never be able to go beyond 1/2/3/4. Not because you can't based off muscle mass, but you can't for your own safety, it just takes one time and you'll have to get back surgery with the rods.Never, ever get back rods unless you have zero choice. It's permanent lack of mobility and it causes osteoarthritis in 100% of cases at this stage in medical technology as it is foreign objects directly drilled into your spine, the spines immune system is stimulated forever and will eventually degrade further because of this. You must not get spinal rod surgery unless you have no choice, we are talking a lifetime of constant pain.
>>76583343>im 28 nowgo see a doctor wtf. every scoliosis is different, what applies to mine won't apply to yours
>>76583415>go see a doctorhe said i can do anything but "with moderation" Curve is an S crurve of araound 20degrees
>>76583415>every scoliosis is differentliterallya half inch difference in scoliosis location results in a completely different rehabilitation program. if you don't have an exact diagnose you can't create a rehabilitation program.
>>76583426>curve is an SShitpost and dangerous to the point of getting someone killed.Scoliosis has to be diagnosed at exact vertebrae. it's not a subjective thing.
>>76583415>>76583430>>76583435you are severely overestimating the glorified search engines that go by the name of doctorsthey will just tell him some generic milquetoast NPC bullshitOP either way until you're strong it doesn't even fucking matteryou wont hurt yourself squatting, say, 1 plateworry about it later, just lift for now
>>76583435wjat would the exact number of the vertebrae change. It stabilized a long ago im almost 30.
>>76583426I'm S shaped with about 35 degrees each and several doctors have said the same, do everything in moderation and you're the judge. No "no Squat or OHP" like Scooby says.>>76583430It's really not unless you're talking about some highly specific unilateral physiotherapy like the Schroth method. Otherwise you need to strengthen the back and core muscles every way you can. >>76583383MRIs of straight spine people after a certain age show disc degeneration in some 80-90% of the population but they don't all have pain. The most common pain with a crooked back is muscular
If you get your back like this I doubt you'd feel much pain
>>76583450>The most common pain with a crooked back is muscularidk, I kinda feel blocked and crooked at the kyphosis level. I used not to feel anything in my teen years ( I didnt even recognize i hade a scoliosis then), it just started this feeling after my 20- 21. I think it's because the kyphosis increased a bit plus the shoulder articulation/muscles go all over the spine.
>>76583450what kind of exercises u do ? Do u do a lot of stretching?
>>76583487No stretching at all. I'm still a beginner. I do pushups, inverted rows with gymnastic rings, pullups-dips, core work on a mat, bulgarian split squats for legs, iso holds on the back extension machine for the low back. All these are super safe. I plan to dip my feet into deadlift, squat when I feel stronger.
>>76583383Do you think 17 degree lumbar scoliosis is death tier?
>>76583445it's true a lot of doctors are scummy, I went to like three before I started lifting, but it's better to be safe than sorry with this kind of stuff. my scoliosis is slightly worse than OP's yet unlike his it luckily never caused me any pain at all
>>76583583It's small but there are people with small curves that are in pain and others with large curves that are not. Usually the second ones are active
>>76583445I have scoliosis and was even manage to mildly reverse it.Shitpost somewhere else.>>76583447The exact verterbrae must be known because of biomechanical movement.I sleep on a specific side, with a pillow underneath the specific pivot point.I workout in a specific way, while I strengthen everything and mobilize everything.Specific muscles must be strengthened more than the other side as it is a asymmetrical degenerative disease. If you workout both sides to the same amount, you will always begin to lean towards the side that the degeneration forces you to lean. This is a very comprehensive oriented disease.Regular checkups every handful of years to check usually>hip>spine>scapula>neck>ribcage positionto determine what needs to be reworked on and resigned in your rehabilitation.Refusal to do this is a guarantee that the scoliosis will get worst as your posture degenerates further. It's not optional, the disease will always get worst no matter what you do, the earlier you are diagnose the higher the chance of potential reversal, but no one with scoliosis has full reversal, it has never been documented once. because that contradicts the very nature of the disease. However if you stop it early enough, reverse it partially, and stabilize. You can effectively hold this stabilization to the point it's a non issue in old age as your body degenerates. Since at that stage you'd unironically from a lifetime of good health practices have a spine healthier than most non-scoliosis having people. However at 30 there is nothing that can be done, you can only stabilize, partially reversal is impossible.>>76583450shitposting is shitposting anon.>strengthen the back and core every way you canNo, you must strengthen what needs to be strengthen. Strengthening the abs or back symmetrically will always result in the scoliosis progressing as the muscles equally pull in both directions. You have to strengthen to counter the scoliosis.
>>76583753>>76583450>MRIs of straight spine people after a certain age show disc degeneration in some 80-90% of the population but they don't all have pain. The most common pain with a crooked back is muscularUpon your last comment.80-90% of people don't have a degenerative disease that causes eventual exponential force applied to their spines. You are shitposting, you are lying to people.Just because an 80 year old has mild neck degeneration this =/= a scoliosis having person having to deal with degeneration as early as 20 years old which will only get worst.People with untreated scoliosis die earlier than people with non scoliosis. That is factual, so shitpost somewhere else.
>>76583583entirely depends on exactly which vertebrae it's located and how fast the degeneration is happening.Just because a degree is mild doesn't mean eventually the degeneration doesn't happen quicker. You're posting a logical fallacy because osteoarthritis is different from person to person. While usually a person who does not show an increasing degree, will usually be fine. There are many cases of mild scoliosis never even being diagnose until old age when the disease starts to exponentially grow.I mean literal, millions of people every generation have scoliosis and they don't even realize it until they are 50+ years old because of just how mild it is.In which case simple rehabilitation will usually stabilize when until death. If you are sub 30 years old and have Scoliosis or Advanced Scoliosis, you must start preparing for it as soon as diagnosed.By the time you are old age you will unironically be a cripple in some form and die earlier than your peers if you leave it untreated.I took care of my shit for my entire lifetime and only now at 36 do I even account for what is true scoliosis at 26 degrees.I was 23 degrees or less for the last 23 years of my life.I now have to increase my workout regiment to compensate for this. This is how scoliosis works.if you stop rehabilitation or do not adjust rehabilitation regularly, it will always get worst.
>>76583350There are no genes for scoliosis, retard.
>>76583753I don't train specific muscles more, nor do I sleep with my vertebrae in mind, and my angle has progressed 1 degree or something in 10y span. >If you workout both sides to the same amount, you will always begin to lean towards the side that the degeneration forces you to lean. That's the theory of the Schroth method. Sounds nice but it could also be true that you can't meaningfully redistribute load with gay little stretches and contortionist style lifting. I don't know>People with untreated scoliosis die earlier than people with non scoliosis.Nope unless they have some crazy 100 degree deformity
>>76583792L3-L4. It has been lingering around 17 degrees for my whole entire life. I'm in my 20s. Spamming calisthenics hard right now, especially weighted ones. Tons of pull ups, dips, muscle ups.
>>76583350Not mostly it is genetic. You don’t get it with bad posture and you can only fix it with surgery. This board is so retarded
>>76583343I fixed my light scoliosis with this, and on top of this by addressing my anterior pelvic tilt. My body was shifting my hip to one side to compensate for the lack of mobility from my ATP, then due to the hip shift my shoulders also shifted to compensate: https://youtu.be/oCoiJK7S3sU?si=rWZYxP-OfobX7E30
>>76583343>I have this shit, prolly because i spend my teenager years playing videogames and never went out in the sun. It's typically genetic, bad posture and not going outside won't really give you scoliosis just make you gay>Can i lift weights or it will destroy my spine moreDon't lift >50 pounds consistently. Lift weights in ways that don't require work from your back or compress it, and otherwise do muscle strengthening exercises focused around your back and core. I've also heard some things about Schroth but I haven't ever done it personally.Running, biking, etc. are also good, I personally run but it is possible for your spine to pinch nerves causing pain in some activities if it's bad enough. In general I believe the typical cutoff for surgery is 40 or 45 degrees, and bracing is 25 degrees. There are different types of scoliosis though, but the one I have/had (and I believe is most common) that's typically how it goes. Under 20 and there's not really a whole lot you have to do, just take a bit more care of your back and muscle strength, under 10 you can basically live life normally.>>76583383>Scoliosis is not curable, it's physically impossible to cure it is defined by the fact your bones have curved when they were soft and now are permanently stable in the curved position. It just requires having >10 degree curve, although yeah once you're mid-late teens it's too late to really fix (without surgery and stuff which is not something you really want if you can help it), just help your muscles deal with it. If you're around 12 years old (younger for girls) you're still in time for bracing to help correct it though. I had a 20 degree curve which then was brought down to an 8 degree curve after wearing a brace for around 3 years. Unfortunately most parents aren't checking their kids for scoliosis so a lot are late to prevent the worst of it.
>>76583343Do dead hangs or even find a place that does pravilo training. You might even grow a few inches in height.

informative thread but it's giving me a mental illness. I don't have scoliosis... I think.>>76583763remember to treat your diseases with muscle: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAoAgMvJrzA
