Are straight sets a meme?

Great. What are your numbers?

You're supposed to get less fatigue not failing, so you can do more volume and recover. It probably doesn't make that much difference.

My bench press went from 95 lbs to 135 lbs in almost 2 months doing this. If I keep this up, I should be benching roughly 275 in a year.

Did 2pl8 Incline bench for 9 yesterday

>strength gains are linear
Hahahahaha
>>
>>76586758
Adding five pounds per workout, three sets of five reps (3x5) three times every two weeks (ABA/BAB), you would have gone from 95 to 155 lbs (+60 lbs) in almost two months. That's literally the program. You're not doing the program. You're not making those sweet gains because you're not doing the program. You're an idiot. Never post here again.

135 lbs is when things are already starting to slow down i think. I've been at 150lbs for almost two weeks now

everything is a meme, And eventually, you will learn that linear overload stops working. It happens to everyone.

Everything works for brand new lifters. Also, almost everything works for a short while for more expeinced lifters. So its not suprising that just one hard rep could allow ou to get less weak.

But the need for volume to increase hypertrophy is needed for long term gains; there has to be a certain volume of work done to trigger growth and ultimately more strnegth. So, thats why three sets of 5, or 5x5, or 3 sets of ten, whatever all work very well for a long period of time. Very good blend of volume and intensity to allow for long term strength adaptations to grow.

You remind me of this incredibly vain guy I used to know, so he and this other guy I used to know were doing sets of 20 at 145. The last five or six reps they were stopping to breathe between every rep, the bar was shaking, and they were grinding it out. I already hit chest that day so I was pretty tired, but they talked me into it so I laid down and knocked out 20 in like a minute and then put the bar back. They both looked at me and asked how many I thought I could have gotten if I hadn't stopped. I told them "thirty, maybe thirty-five". They just looked at me in shock.

Cute, in other words. That's you and your "for 9 yesterday".

I feel like with the supplements I take I barely even have to do reps or volume to max sarcoplasm for a given strength level and I'm mostly spinning my wheels if I do 15+ reps or 3+ sets. Taken to the extreme it's like running to try to increase max deadlift.

Yes there is a certain volume, but it can be pretty low.

reading this post made me think of this image for some reason

Heavy top sets are great and straight sets should be just additional backoff volume for the same movement with a lighter weight.
Top sets shouldn't be taken to failure, there's no real benefit to it.

That's a cute story and all...but yesterday I hit 85 lbs for 140 reps. You're nothing to me.
>>
>>76586980
No, they were both pretty cut. One was in his early-30s and the other was 19. Neither of them were broccoli-header zoomers. But I know what you mean. There were plenty of them in the gym yesterday, and one dyel yelling at another dyel who kept taking the bar to the ground. I swear to God.

Yes

Yeah, I bet you'd love having such an immensely strong man on his knees in front of you. How about this: you curl as much as I can (I can do the 15 lb one for 20 reps) and I might consider sending you a picture of my private parts
