I'm genuinely seeking perspective, not venting.
I'm 21 years old and over 400 pounds.
I'm lazy and partially self-aware.
I've noticed my chest somewhat stings, and frankly, I'm disappointed at the idea of my life even possibly ending in my twenties.
There is a high likelihood it will if I keep up my diet.
About a month ago I started working out. Ten minutes twice a day on the treadmill. Lost five pounds per week.
But it was killing me. Really tough on my ankles. Pussy move, I know, but I stopped.
If I'm being honest, the pain is an excuse.
I just don't even know if it's worth it.
I don't want to eat myself to death, but I don't see my life going anywhere.
At 21, can you ever have a good looking body after two decades of being obese?
If I can't even make it a month, how can I make it four or five years to shed 400 pounds?
I have so much I want to do, but it feels like I won't even be able to do it anyway.
Everyone tells me I'm strong and can work out. That I've grown muscle carrying around this weight for so long.
That if I lost it gradually, my skin would go back naturally due to my youth and I could be a good looking guy by my mid-twenties.
I don't even know if it's true, and if it is, I don't know if it even matters.
Anyone's advice is welcome. Any advice at all. I'm not one of those sensitive fatties. I know I'm gross, it's just a fact.
I just want to hear different thoughts other than my own.
>>
>>76588923
I mean I get it, but you're fucking up. Mentally it's about momentum. You know if you change what you're doing it won't get that much better for a long time, and might never be wonderful...So you keep making it worse. But if you do things right every day for a month you'll feel like you're IMPROVING, and all you have to do is never fuck up to keep improving every day. Better is better than worse. If you do fuck up though it'll feel pretty bad, and you really can lose a week's progress in one day.

There are those ozempic drugs too. You might need skin removal if you lose a lot of weight to look/feel "right", which you probably know. But the alternative is just getting worse.
>>
>>76588939
I want to do it without drugs and surgery.
I had a thread on /adv/ but they told me to post here for better answers.
They said something similar, and you're right.
Something's better than nothing.
In my head, and you can tell me if it's retarded, I don't see a point in losing weight if I'll look like shit.
The whole point is to lose weight and look good.
If I'm fucked from the get-go, it just feels kind of pointless. On one level, obviously the health benefits are good.
>>
>>76588945
>The whole point is to lose weight and look good.
No guarantees and maybe you'll change your mind about surgery if it's the only way to look normal.

Building muscle will help to a degree, by taking up space under skin. Start now.
>>
>>76588971
Sounds fair enough.
Thanks.
>>
>>76588945
>The whole point is to lose weight and look good.
How about losing weight so you're not a rancid pile of yeasty shit stank whose internal organs are in a race to see which one can fail the harsest and kill you first?
>>
>>76588985
I know I value life more than anything, even deep down when there are times I say I don't.
But I'm tired of being ugly.
Yes, I wouldn't be slowly wasting away.
But I don't want to become miserable and healthy after being miserable and unhealthy.
>>
>>76588923
You could be 22 and 180lbs or 22 and 400lbs. Your choice.
>>
It’s never over, my friend. Don’t expect it to be a journey without setbacks. You will fall and fail, we all do, but I can tell you have the strength to get back up. If possible, a personal trainer will help you tremendously. Find activities that hurt less. Go swimming. Pick up some weights. Find something you enjoy more than walking. At your weight any movement will be beneficial. Walking is not the end all of being healthy. You can make it, amigo.
>>
>>76589000
Fuck it, you're right. This thread is pointless. Either I do it or don't.
/fit/ isn't going to get me to motivate myself.
It's just more running away.
Thanks for all the replies, goodnight.

don't look at the scale oftener than every 2-3 months imo. diet is tough and i dunno much about it other than to leave a few bites behind on every plate over a year or so. do a minimum half an hour of something active every day and don't be afraid to involve others including medical professionals, a social circle on strava, friends and family. i've heard water walking from end to end in a swimming pool has been a great start to a lot of weight loss journeys (doesn't hurt that fat is buoyant lol). if the treadmill sucks do exercise bike or elliptical. get a bike stand trainer for your house and put it in front of the tv or computer and do that when you've got some time to kill

main advice i can give you is to set up things in your day to day life that help you pick the physically active option, cars make you fat obv, but like if you're at a supermarket deciding what to get do a few laps or try to touch all 4 corners of the floor space. wearing a fitness watch (any cheap model is fine, $30-100 price range has lot of good options) will make you think about your movement and health a lot more often.
>>
Thank you, as well.
I just have to try, I guess.
Maybe one day we'll all be Supermen.

Nigger all you have to do is stop shoving thousands of calories a day down your maw. It takes actual work to be 400 pounds by 21 years old, just STOP nigger.
>>
>>76588923
At your weight, excercise is gonna be tough on your joints so you can try doing excercise in the pool. Best thing for you is to just watch your diet. You dont have to go full boiled chicken/rice either. You can start small by cutting out sugary snacks/drinks then limit yourself as you go. Drink diet soda if u have the urge for soda. Once you lose more weight youll feel better doing excercise cuz it wont be as tough on your joints.

As for your mindset, its all you. If you are unhappy with yourself then do something about it. If not then stay fat.

Your gut bacteria are going against you, as is the inflammation and serotonin overload. Cut out seed oils and inflammatory foods, and tough through it. It’s all going to fuck with your head, why it’s so hard to give up, those bacteria want all the toxic gnarly stuff to feed on at the expense of you. Wake up, sip some coffee, read Sun and Steel by Yukon Mishima every morning, go outside and get sun on your whole body. Take off your shirt….be confident. You’re 400 lbs, fuck it brah, don’t hide it. Work on it daily, work on some weights, hire a trainer, you’re the marble, carve it down; be impersonal with it. Don’t make it personal, get out of your head and realize this is incredibly hard, especially with your brain and hormonal imbalance. Have some grace and let yourself fail if you have to, but maintain forward movement. I can’t remember the Charles Bukowski quote…the laughing heart maybe? The whole point is you get up off the canvas, regardless what put you there; fuck it. You get up, that’s your design as a male. Read some Nietzsche, get some philosophic basis for why being fit or strong is worthwhile so you have a metaphysical basis that’s not just baseless “food taste good, moar.” Fuck gluttony and sloth dude, be able to verbalize why you as a person, do not subject yourself to their whims. That’s all I got; I believe in you brother
>>
>>76589059
> Cut out seed oils

Here comes the meme advice.
>>
>>76589061
Here’s going to be inflamed to a massive degree, my view is seed oils are incredibly inflammatory, if you want to radical centrist me here and be for them, shoot for it sport. OP needs to cut out inflammatory foods, to cut out gut and GI inflammation, and systemic edema. He is going to be carrying an awful lot of pseudo-mass just based on water everywhere, further impacting his joints and hormonal profile. The midwit semantic point of trying to pick that one point, versus the overall message, shows the cancer of this board at times. Help the guy out, be a bro, be a good Christian. Don’t be a sad cunt.

Tl;dr Cut out pro-inflammatory foods OP, and you’ll start to lose a lot of residual water weight everywhere, which will feel, and look better. You’ll get a big self confidence boost just with that. Use the sauna, Epsom salt bath’s are killer. Don’t listen to black pilled fucks

I've read Marcus Aurelius and some Plato. A little bit of Kant, Marx, and Rand.
Really not a big reader, but I'm trying to get through Thomas Pynchon and Henry Miller.
As for the book recs, I'll give those a shot. I think I read a Mishima a long time ago, but I might be thinking about the movie.
I don't drink coffee, but I can dedicate real time to working out. I'm at home most of the time. Online school and all.
What are inflammatory foods?
Thanks for your advice. I really appreciate it.
>>76589042
I've been thinking about finding a pool somewhere. I guess I'd be ashamed to swim in public. Wish I had a private pool, lol.
Not a big soda guy. I do have an exercise bike if that works. My mindset is shit anyways, not a good indicator of anything.
Thanks for your advice.
>>76589099
Be extremely agoraphobic, stay home for your entire junior year of high school, get medicated, become lethargic, eat pizza, eat popcorn, eat cake, eat cheeseburgers, eat more pizza, eat cookies, eat doughnuts, eat french fries, eat more pizza, eat kolaches, and don't skimp on pizza.
I really don't recommend it at all. It doesn't make you feel good.

Youre only a 4th way through life.
Anything is possible. Just eat more veggies and less (actually none) processed foods, it's that simple.
>>
>>76588923
find a diet that you like and will help you lose weight
find an exercise regimen that you enjoy
if you can do those two things then you can be fixed
as for loose skin, that can be fixed with surgery
trust me, I used to be fat, and life feels so much different when you're thin. you just feel 'normal' like you're supposed to feel. being 400lbs goes against 100000 years of evolution.
>>
>>76588923
>Guise, is there a point to not literally killing myself by over eating?

Great thread OP
>>
If you're over 6ft you could honestly walk around at 300 lbs which isn't that far from where you are. Lots of serious lifters around there. Either way don't be one of those fat guys who diets down to 160 lbs and loses 80 lbs of muscle doing it
>>
>here is my copy pasted story
the population of the world is already eating up more resources faster than it can replenish so a healthy population makes no difference

Okay.

What I did should help alot of people

I was an Alcoholic for one, nearly two years. It started as keeping a bottle in my house. I would go through that in a month. I did use it to relax. But it got worse. One became two and so on, untill I was drinking everyday. I would wake up and my brain demanded that I drink. It wasn't too bad as watching Dr.Phil had a guy drink up to thirty cans in one day. My worst was a 6-pack and cans of premix. Step 1: Magnesium got rid of the craving but the boredom was left. My stimulus was drinking. I turned to it. It has the same principle as snaking. I thought maybe I was rewarding myself by drinking and using that system to fulfil it. Would upping my dopamin in my brain alleviate this? is that possible? Yes it is, for me and my individual brain chemistry. yes you can increase dopamine from the foods you eat. it takes time. Maybe 5 months which may not be bad for some, but the payoff is worth your effort. Serotonin too. That is also involved in boredom. Now my stimulus has turned to other things and i haven't thought or even got tempted when i go to the shops. I can watch a movie without eating popcorn. it has changed my life. Now I am the opposite: looking after myself can be addicting! I wonder If any of my bros do this ... I jot down useful nutrition information and it all comes together like a painting.

never been fat but it can be a hell like i once lived

> But it was killing me. Really tough on my ankles. Pussy move, I know, but I stopped. If I'm being honest, the pain is an excuse.
The only pussy move here is not figuring out a way to work around the pain. Getting started and being consistent are the hardest parts. Keep going for any increment you can manage. At 400, you're practically burning a calorie every other step. Take Tylenol if you need it at first. Drink a lot of water.

>At 21, can you ever have a good looking body after two decades of being obese?
No, but is that the only thing that matters? I lost 220 pounds at 32. My body looks like shit, sure, but I feel fucking incredible compared to when I was obese. Literally every other function in my life has improved.

> If I can't even make it a month, how can I make it four or five years to shed 400 pounds?
You don't need to shed 400 pounds. You need to shed 200 pounds. Cutting your calories a measly 500 below your TDEE while doing no exercise at all will take 4 years. Burning 200 more over a 2 mile walk each day will shorten this to 2.5 years. It just takes a little effort and determination. Get a solid diet foundation and try to stick to it. Recognize when you fuck up and eat too much that it'll be fine, just counteract it the next day.

> Everyone tells me I'm strong and can work out. That I've grown muscle carrying around this weight for so long.
You can and you have. When I was gigafat I could push SO much more weight than I can now. Your body is used to being under tension. Use it to your advantage.

> That if I lost it gradually, my skin would go back naturally due to my youth and I could be a good looking guy by my mid-twenties.
It won't. But you won't care as much when you lose the weight.
>t. used to be concerned about loose skin until I actually got it

>I know I'm gross, it's just a fact.
I was there too. Hated myself. Hated the mirror. Hated pictures. If you want to change how you look at yourself, start by changing how you look
>>
>>76588945
What is the point of this "drugs and surgery are cheating" bullshit? You are actively dying, you are functionally physically disabled, you need to do what's necessary to save your life and its quality. This shit is like saying it's cheating to do anything but walk to the west coast of the US to the east coast.

all your big nono foods are flour-heavy. try switching your main carb source to something like rice, lentils, beans, or carrots and other root veggies

>>76588923
Aside from the other advice in this thread there's only one small thing that you (and every other baby) needs to know: if you don't do it now, you'll regret not doing it in a few years. You're a child and have plenty of time to improve things. Instead of whining like this until you die somewhere in your 30s you'd be better off just tackling the issue at hand. It'd probably be less mentally taxing too. Stop thinking, retard.
>>
Just take the ozempic (I'm going to guess you are diabetic or pre-diabetic so you should qualify)

Use whatever willpower you would have spent on fighting your hunger to work out instead.

Just take the damn drugs
>>
OP you are dying
My friend of your weight died at 27

>if I lost it gradually, my skin would go back naturally due to my youth and I could be a good looking guy by my mid-twenties.
Yep, you can do it gradually. Giving your skin time to adjust to your new weight is always good. No speedrunning but you have to keep at it. Start by controlling your intake, eg. intermittent fasting or anything else that works for you. Diet is 80% of the work. In a year you'll be out of mortal danger. Two years and you'll look normal. Do it for yourself and those who love you.

You are going to have a lot of injuries because you are very very fat and you jiggle about, just rest until they are healed and get back at it. If you do lose the weight it is going to be entirely down to diet, and you need to eat that way for the rest of your life. Work out when you can but fundamentally change the way you eat.
>>
>>76588923
You dont even have to exercise to lose a shit ton of weight. What you need to do is stop fucking eating which I understand is probably difficult for you and I get that sucks. You need to track calories and stick to a strict deficit. At your weight it will drop off incredibly easy at least initially. A significant weight loss from diet will open the door to more strenuous exercise. One machine I love is the recumbant cardio bike. The seat doesn't go up your ass, its more like a chair. That let's your big ass sit there more comfortably and you dont have to walk with 400lbs on your legs. It still allows for a great workout. Exercise won't do a damn thing if you dont stop eating.
>>
there is beauty to life but sometimes we can't see it when facing a wall, and the only thing we can do is keep moving, I promise you your efforts will be rewarded

dude's insane but his diet is insanely good, you'll shed weight naturally by just eating the fucking cooked vegetables and everything else, full program if you want more specific recommendations, you'll live to 100 and you'll be happy.

If you’re 400 lbs at 21, there’s a good chance you’ve been fat as fuck your whole life. That’s on your parents, not you. Your parents are probably fat too. They raised you to be a fucking loser like them.

Hard truth of life is who your parents are is damn near fucking everything. There’s nothing else to it. People try to shovel responsibility on the individual, but these people are the ones who’s parents cooked everynight and drove them back and forth from basketball practice (or whatever other sport).

You’re responsible for most of your life after 15, but before that, your parents are your parents. You pulled a shit hand. Best you can do is make the best of the life you have, which requires hard work everyday. My parents sucked too. People meet my family now and wonder how the fuck I became the person I am. I’m a well-off, fit, educated young man from a family of fat, hill billy criminals. It is what it is.

I was you once. You can find all the diet and exercise advice you'll ever need online easily, the real key that cant be taught is just willpower and consistency. You don't have to be perfect overnight and you won't be. You don't have to make some heroic effort to change all at once, and you'll just burn out and quit if you try. You'll have shitty workouts and fuck up on your diet once in a while and it'll be fine as long as you just do not allow yourself to quit.

Soreness from the gym sucks, but it won't kill you. Feeling hungry sucks, but it won't kill you. Just keep showing up no matter what, and once you start seeing results you'll gradually learn to embrace the discomfort. If I can do it, so can you.

Hope this helps.
>>
Literally just stop eating. Dont eat a single thing for one month other than water with a little salt in it. That is it.

Don’t worry about the timespan, because you will be getting thinner the whole time, so you will start getting benefits early. You will be attractive and it will be worth it.

Look dude it's gonna suck for a while. You're barely mobile and things are gonna be difficult for a minute. Walking? It's gonna hurt. Lifting weights? It's gonna hurt. This is gonna be your reality for the time being. It's better to embrace that rather than wait for the enjoyment to come and make things easier for you. You'll be taking yourself out of your comfort zone and you'll constantly want to stop but if you stick with it you'll see that you can walk a bit more, breathe a little better and actually look forward to working out. Most of us are rooting for you despite what you may read in this thread. Godspeed bro

NO ONE HAS MENTIONED:

THE KETOGENIC DIET

but really, it will be hard for people like OP to have ABSOLUTELY NO CARB

but it is a way to lose the weight with NO EXERCISE

you do risk heart attacks and for the obese this is way riskier
>>

>can you ever have a good looking body after two decades of being obese?
With a tummy tuck, 400 is stretching it. You'd likely need skin removal in multiple areas.

no it wont, mine didn't after losing 165 lbs and completely recomping up to having good lift numbers for my weight.
