I remember finding a single study on it and like one or two forum posts back like a decade or two ago but can't find anything on it anymore. Closest I found was something called isometric power flexing but that's different apparently. It was this type of workout where you just flexed your muscles as hard and for as long as you could, no actual external resistance, not even from other body parts, and I don't think you even had to move the muscle into a flexing position, like you could just stay still and do the entire full body workout haha. I can't imagine having a workout plan that was just this and nothing else but I do wonder if it could help in certain contexts.

whats the point of those desu? ordinary exercises are there because you need to push-pull shits irl. what irl activities do you need to clench your muscles and sit still like an angry rock

yes just flex every muscle all the time. this technique employs nearly every known muscle growth mechanism in existence. combine with comprehensive full body stretching to maximize gains. cant lift more than you can flex

Maybe you're talking about Charles Atlas' dynamic tension

you mean co-contractions?
yeah they work just like overcoming isometrics, problem is you can't track effort/strength/recovery

this is a suuper old school technique, like Silver Era. my greatest gen neighbor is a nationally-ranked bodybuilder and talked about it as a solid way to finish isolation work.

Like you do your curls and then just hold the flex as long as possible (in position). It's basically the prototype of blood flow restriction training in that you keep the lactic acid in the muscle for an extended period of time. Some diehards did it for compounds but they were kinda loonies with no tangible results.

According to him it fell out of favor because 1) it's hard to progressively overload and 2) golden era roids reduced lactic acid pain to the point that you were just holding the contraction for minutes with no real improvement

Yep is called isometric trainning.
Bruce Lee Always did that type of trainning.

Speed reps are typically better to tey and use 5rm and make it 3rm etc. Pause reps are similar and better for improving sticking points but thats how i fucked up my shoulder and i honestly think half of the tendons are torn off the bone even though i did something similar with the opposite shoulder and never have issues any more at all(14yo high hgh and i was doing pushups and could always do 20-30 strict(bottom of rom bench is the tendons i fucked up)).

So flexing isn't just women tier self idolization?
Will start flexing now.
