I like running as an addition to gym but all the races I run are only 5K and 10K. I feel pathetic about this though because everyone nowadays is at least doing half marathon distances, marathons or even ultras.
I just don't have the time to run that much weekly mileage in order to get a good half or full marathon. I perform ok at the 5K and 10K distances and I like them the most.

i think the half marathon is the perfect distance to build up for once a year. if you regularly run 10ks you're probably not even going to have to train that much harder because it's not like a full marathon where your muscles actively start fucking off.

Runing is for blacks and prey
>>
Every time I run more than about 8 miles in one go I shit uncontrollably and can't stop. Like clockwork. My body thinks it's a death march or something.
>>

>How pathetic is it to never run marathons?
Very. Not really, I mean you do you, most races are a money grab anyway. I'm personally a daily big miler and I don't bother with races.

Do sprint or olympic triathlons
Bonus points for finding a mountain course where you mtb and trail run
>>
>>76605265
>moneygrab
How do those races make money anyways??
>>
>>76605027
Marathon running is extremely unaesthetic and not good for you. Marathon running walls women faster than taking nigger dick in college.
>>
>>76605265
5K and 10K races always have slightly more women than men running. The 2 yearly half marathons in my city are already 70% men and marathon even 85%, total sausage fest. So after the shorter distances you can chat with qts.
>>76605451
You pay for being able to run them. A 10K race is like 30 euros here. Marathon can be up to 80 bucks.
>>
>>76605468
Lmao wtf
So people pay money just to run?? Hahah no wonder there is all this virtue signalling around it, it’s just consoomer cope

Welfare

Literally just run the route by yourself for free
Paying someone else to run on public roads and trails is so cucked
>>

It's like any other sports event. You also have to pay if you take part in a powerlifting meet or ski race. It's about running against/with others and have friends and family cheer you on. Oh, and I have hooked up with cute cardiobunnies I met at the parties after the event.
>>
>>76605508
>cheer you on
Do they run the course with you?
>>
>>76605528
They cheer me on at the start, then grab a coffee and come back at the finish line if it's a 10K. 5Ks I run alone and just flirt with cardiobunnies at the start/finish because I run it in 20min, no point in cheering for me.

Running is bad for health
>>
>>76605175
That happens, runners are always shitting.
>>
>>76605471
fr i just run my local half/marathon courses the weekend before the race and spend the signup fee on taking my friends out to dinner. i can also give out tips and tricks to ppl who haven't done the course
>>
>>76605709
I just wonder what they’re gonna do if you go there and run without paying
It’s public properties that you’re running on after all
>>
>>76605590
eating food also stresses your body and ages you. it's over. le Black pill
>>
>>76605027
Impressive how the pro's can run sub 5's for the entire thing, but I have zero desire to get that fast, and I use running for general cardio health, not to waste hours of my time.
>>
>>76605798
eh i just ran my 1 hour threshold pace and the back third is qualitatively different, racing and hobby running/jogging aren't the same and i'd encourage all runners to try and beat the clock a couple times per quarter
>>
>>76605068
Seconding this. Full marathon is too hardcore. Half marathon is still impressive to the average person plus you won't go full skelly mode training for it.
>>
>>76605898
you don't need to train for 13 miles
>>
>>76605899
you will if you don't want a bitch time > 2hrs
>>
>>76605027
a fast 5k or 10k is way more impressive than some oaf plodding around a marathon in 4 hours and thinking they've done something impressive.
>>
>>76605528
One the best things about running a big marathon is having random spectators cheering you on the whole way round. Somewhere like is London is insane for that. The atmosphere is unreal.
