Hi /fit/

a few years ago I almost died (early 30s) and had a bunch of of brain damage that left my body in a rekt state from being bedbound for months. I've gotten better but had to re-learn to use my muscles. Some of my muscles had a hard time "turning on" again. Like I'd walk funny and other stuff and did years of physio to basically go from WW2 prisoner of war to DYEL skinnyfat

I'm early 30s. And I wasn't ever expecting to get well enough to walk into a gym but here I am. I have a heart condition as a result of this too but its safe to workout but I'm not anywhere near doing weighted squats or deadlifts.

I've been going to the gym for 3 months doing a bit of cycling and bench press and rows. Problem I actually feel more sore probably as a result of poor form and training wrong. And I'm taking on muscle surprisingly fast but it's not balanced.

I found a high quality personal trainer and told him about this and I need to adapt-in a special workout program too for my heart (I'm cleared to work out by a doctor, basically my heart is weaksauce but not permanently thus I actually need to train)

He is quoting me $150 an hour, 2 sessions a week. So $1200 a month. I guess given all my issues, this seems like a reasonable price, but is there anything else I should consider. Idk, I'm kinda pissed that I need to fork all this money over to have a normal body. I don't think I'm gonna make it on my own. But at the same time it would be a huge help for my body and general wellbeing and I may re-learn things wrong (physiotherapy can only go so far) if I don't do it.

I also still have to pay a lot for all my other physio and therapies, but I make a decent amount of money. I'll be in the red every month I do this for sure, but not by a whole lot. Idk.. is there anything else I should consider?

i know it's a huge deal but i'd move to someplace with nice weather and low cost of living and use the rehab medicine facilities there instead of forking over a car payment for an hour of coaching. maybe find some other people with similar level of handicap and get a group discount

You get sore. You just do. Every time unless you're just spinning our wheels.
>And I'm taking on muscle surprisingly fast
That would explain the soreness.
>but it's not balanced.
Says who?
I don't know how much training should cost but I wouldn't pay that if I was making gains all on my own.

Consider not hiring him because no personal trainer is worth a 300k/ year salary.

You can actually become a certified trainer for less than $1200
