I recently tried to make my own upper lower split since I can only go 3 days a week, you guys think this is retarded or something, not trying to maximise or complicate anything just want a simple workout that targets the whole body in a week and trains the same muscles twice a week, I only just started working out a couple months ago

I don't think it's bad, it follows some principles I also like to implement, you just have to try it to see if it works for you. Some things are up to personal preference, for example, I don't really like the pre-exhaustion of the biceps on the Upper 2 day. Nothing wrong with it and it works, but you'll have to deal with curling baby weights and never hitting arms when they are fresh. The other thing is that you bench and shoulder press on the same day. In my experience that hinders progression on both lifts, so I like to keep them separate if possible, or at least alternate the order. I also think you can go higher than 8 reps for the accessories, you're not gonna go heavy on them anyway and some may require higher volume.

If you're only willing to go 3 days a week and a beginner then starting strength or stronglifts would be perfect for you

this. although I'd reduce the amount of squats to one time per week.
I got insane strength gains on that workout, but it was somewhat loopsided towards y legs

Shit why didn't I find out that was a thing sooner, cheers
>>76611618
appreciate the tips, yeah the orderings fucked, I'll probably scrap it and stick to already established programs until then

There's nothing wrong with having strong legs, they're important. Squats are a good exercise, huge range of motion and lets you lift a ton of weight without tiring you out too much like in a deadlift. You have to be stupid to only do squats once or twice a week.

Just know that these programs are specifically for beginners and not for bodybuilding or the long-term. They let you create a strong base for yourself while teaching you the most important compounds and correct form, as form is especially crucial with these. Once you plateau with these is when you know to switch to another program, like a split

>once or twice a week.
Once i get. You need to practice the squat more than any other exercise to get it good and stick with it. But i don't see why that can't be done twice a week.

It's just unnecessary. Why only squat twice a week if you're trying to follow the program? Your squat is going to be your strongest lift besides the deadlift. Your leg muscles are strong and can recover fast. Even if you don't care about lifting numbers or functional strength, having stronger legs is good for testosterone and injury prevention
Sure, you can squat twice a week and still progress, but you can also go to the gym once a week and still progress. There's no reason to hamper your squat progress
If you're scared of your legs getting too strong, you just don't understand human anatomy or the program. You're not giving up any lift in favor of squats, you're just limiting yourself for no reason

Way too much when you could just
Bench press, overhead press, squat, deadlift and do chin ups and bicep curls

Enjoy having small arms

>beginner
>tried to make my own program instead of following one of the many beginner programs created by experienced lifters
Is this the great first filter which prevents so many from making progress in the gym?

Enjoy wasting time doing 6 different exercises
>>
>>76611857
Yeah as well as program hopping.
>>
>>76611584
why don't you just write 3x8 instead of 3sets/8
>>

Enjoy not getting any gains
