How do you go about reducing cortisol? I’ve been trying to do it by relaxing but I still wake up at 6 am very tense and anxious. I often have nightmares. I excercise and do yoga. Do I have to live at the gym to get it under control?

Believe in a nice afterlife and hope something kills you, so loud sounds and menacing people are stress relievers.

Have you considered switching up the workouts? That is, if you've been lifting for a while, consider swapping over to cardio. Something about the change helped me feel better overall

Well, what the fuck is stressing you out? Your current job/relationship, or something in your past? You can't outlift mental issues.

You can completely change your life and do something you love surrounded by people you like. Easy stuff

Sugar. Sugar is the antidote to cortisol.

1. Get sunshine during the day.
2. Develop a prayer life - Jesus wants to hear from you.
3. There are things you KNOW you are supposed to be doing but you arent getting them done. Stop avoiding certain tasks, duties, responsibilities. This stress of avoidance is causing your body/brain - which knows you arent handling your shit - to release cortisol in an attempt to make you get shit done.

Run, no treadmill gotta be outdoors in the sun. It's the only way I could get my cortisol under control. If I don't run now I'm a whiny depressed baby.

Your body actually releases cortisol in the morning to signal your body to wake up. Cortisol itself is not a bad thing. It has a purpose in our body. It enables change and stimulation. Too much cortisol is also associated with stress, which is why it gets a bad wrap.

Andrew Huberman has an episode on this.
