Does beer really give you a beer belly or is it a myth?
>>76634205Sorta. I wouldn't say it's ever the ONE-THING with fat people but it's definitely a contributor. Something about liver dysfunction and certain diabetes makes people thick in the middle and less so in the extremities. So there's at least a couple things there working towards that shape.
Yeah the beer belly comes from insulin. People who drink a lot of beer are taking in huge doses of carbs and develop insulin resistance, the body responds by releasing huge amounts of insulin which causes the gut. HGH users also get insulin resistance and have to supplement exogenous insulin and they get the gut as well. This is so fucking clear to me.
>>76634205Alcohol is terrible for you
>>76634238Low test twink cope. Ancient warriors drank beer and mead to build natural muscle.
>>76634941ancient beer wasn't estrogenic. Also, ancient men didn't have to be home by 8pm to watch rom coms with their gf like a bitch
>>76634941it was spiced with bruit not butch tit hops and had like 1%abv
>>76634941you are not an ancient warriorAncient warriors did not train to “build muscle”Please kill yourself
>>76634205beer accelerates the process of getting a gut because liver health is criticalif the liver starts pumping out too many triglycerides it can start a vicious cycle of fat build up in the gut which then inflames the liver more
>>76634235I don't think so thoBeer belly people have liver fat. Bodybuilders don't, their issues are another
>>76634977>ancient beer wasn't estrogenicIt was
kekke bait thread btw
>>76634941Barely literate cope. "Ancient warriors" were usually average sized and slightly lean. War was mostly marching, trying to steal sufficient food and water from the locals, and dealing with diarrhoea. There may have been the occasionally large warrior, but tales like the giant berserker holding Stamford bridge was probably a regular dude that increases in size and ferocity with multiple retellings because it wows non critical plebeians like yourself.
>>76635369>dis nigga don't κλέος ἄφθιτον
>>76635369>a regular dude that increases in size and ferocity with multiple retellings because it wows non critical plebeians like yourself.>retelling gainsIf it works it works.
>>76634205>all the idiots in this thread with random bullshit brofactsReality is that alcohol messes with fat signaling and promotes visceral fat accumulation, meaning more fat gets stored in your viscera/gut than just normally overeating some amount of calories
>>76634205who or what am i looking at
>>76636512jej
>>76634205One beer is 70 to 100 calories. The people with beer bellies drinking a six pack at minimum once a week. People slowly get one if they have a beer or two after work every day.
>>76634941Beer and other alcoholic drinks used to have a fraction of the alcohol content they have today
>>76634205it's 100% myth. calorie surplus gives you a belly, beer itself won't. However heavy drinking tends to coincide with overeating
>>76636512mythologymaxxing
>>76637140except body composition is not a purely caloric equationexplaining why people develop big guts with skinny limbs requires more nuance
>>76637089>People slowly get one if they have a beer or two after work every day.Wait, I should stop doing that?
>>76637271Fat storage genetics
>>76637368If you workout or don't overeat, it probably won't be bad.
>>76634941alcohol in any amount is bad for you though, full stopyou won’t die or lose your gains for imbibing on occasionbut the point remains
>>76634205in the states I always assumed it was akin to birth control making people fatthat is, when people start partaking just so happens to be the same time their metabolism slows due to age
>>76634941ancient beer was barley soup at about 1% alcohol. same for mead.
>>76638097>ancient beer was barley soup at about 1% alcohol. same for mead. That's a teetotaler myth like wine being grape juice.
>>76636877>not knowing the techno kween
>>76638251ancient wine was heavily mixed with water. drinking it unmixed (and unspiced) was considered barbaric. kindve like sangria. want to try again, sweetie?
>>76638259Need a name a gooning sesh is underway
>>76638263Sure. People like getting drunk, and hundreds or thousands of years ago they knew less about health consequences so they liked it even more, and brewing technology hasn't changed in essence, so it's fucking stupid to think they weren't maxing out alcohol content. When distilling was invented everyone sailed around the world for like 200 years, pissed. Three sheets to the wind, as they said. Shithead.
>>76634205it's fake. have posted on this in great detail before, but here's the skinny:alcohol is negative to net zero calories, as it takes more energy to process than can be absorbed from it, even when taking into account CNS depression.the EXCEPTIONS to this rule are extremely bready beers and sweet wines like muscat. but even then, you need to drink so much that it's not really significant anyway.beer bellies aren't due to beer, they're due to the lifestyle that surrounds most of the people who bitch about it, i.e. lazy fucks who are also stuffing their face with food and doing zero cardio. and inb4 "muh mTOR signalling will fuck up my gains!!!", those studies were on people who had the equivalent of 8-10(!) standard drinks directly after a workout. yea that will fuck up your muscle synthesis, and a bunch of other bodily systems.even if you have a few drinks a day, which you probably shouldn't be doing for other reasons, it will have essentially zero effect on your caloric intake and muscular synthesis. once again, the problem is that people have no fucking control and are morons, so they blame the alcohol.
>>76636857it doesn't unless you are drinking a fucking retarded amount, like 8+ standard drinks. morons take the studies or popsci writers take the studies and say "wow we noticed causation here!" and conveniently leave out the discussion in the study which states that the subjected needed to get absolutely fucking tanked to see this effect.
