When and why did the HIT fad die?
It lost the plot
>>76635357Because people realized it doesn't work.People wanted to believe in it because it fits the modern hustle ideal/lifestyle of minimalism, but reality is reality.
lifting hard is too hard for most people
It just doesn’t get results I think only a small subset of the population has some kind of retard strength mutation that would allow them to sufficiently stress their muscles with small volume.
>>76635390Yeah the small subset called steroid users.
>>76635390you just need proper mind/muscle connectionmost zoomers are athletically retarded, moreso than the average millenial. you guys fucked yourself neurologically, by not playfighting with your father and doing various sports as soon as you were ableso now you have to pay extra attention and learn to lift properly
What about GVS, doesn't he still promote that shit?
>>76635428No, he's High Intensity and High Volume
What about Lyle Dyel "Wreck your shit in 2 sets LMAO" McDonald too?
>>76635431Is he? I thought he was into the whole low volume meme and said it was great, just like Will Tennyson when he halved his volume and got better gains. To be fair, these faggots who claim 'low volume' end up doing a bunch of shit with crossover in a session. Like they'll have "1 set to failure" for biceps, and they'll end up doing a set for rows, pull ups, lat pull down, and some other shit. Or for triceps they'll do shit that hits chest hard and say that they pec fly was mainly their single effort chest exercise.
Brad Schoenfeld is going to revive HIThttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAmmlLiGBRc
>>76635483Are we officially flip flopping?
>>76635428>>76635431>>76635448He lowered volume like a year ago and got good results, as he said in a video.>>76635357>When and why did the HIT fad die?If it was dead there wouldn't be two threads a week shilling how "bad" it is.-It works-Unless you do that muscle almost every day, two straight sets is better than one, but not anywhere near twice as good.-A drop set isn't measurably worse than two straight sets-It only works if you max exertion and I think I saw someone else do that two or three times at the gym.
>>76635532Does single set training work just for bodybuilding style isolation stuff? What about compounds? What about plyometrics? Could doing a single max effort sprint be better than 6 to 8 shorter distance sprints?
>>76635545I think yes to all of those except Idk anything about plyometrics. When talking about max force efforts (Vs endurance) I see it, well, similarly to Mentzer, but more specifically, it's like if your muscle is a handful of raw spaghetti. If you can break it all with one set, doing more does nothing except maybe injure you. You might only break 80% of it with one set so two is better.
Mentzer stuff is just dyel propaganda
It depends on your definition of HITDoggcrapp is a very well renowned program and falls under what you could say is the HIT umbrella
>>76635368Running fags btfo. That’s why they’re all lanky and homosexual.
>>76635576is this guys name Dogcrap?
>>76635588Yes, it’s very sad, don’t look it up
I'm 36 and it's become literally impossible to recover from any high intensity workouts, I thought I'd never be able to get back to the lifts I had when I was in my twenties.I swallowed my pride and started doing low intensity, low volume, high frequency, and now I'm back to my previous lifts.I wish I had done that for years instead of cycles of burning myself out and starting over, getting weaker each time.I hope some 30 year old boomers can learn something from me, because I'm pretty sure many have just dropped lifting when they got to my stage.
>>76635631stfu dyel
>>76635636Ok zoomer.Just remember my post when you're in your 30s and a hard workout makes you weaker.
>>76635357I cant go 100% 247 my diets also shit
>>76635679im late 30s and everything you said is bs and just you coping
>>76635368He improves his cardiovascular system from eyebrows and neck movements alone.
>>76635679>>76635705even older and idk if its cope but it might be fixed with food and supplements. esp. good protein and collagen peptides.
>high intensityI remember when I once tried to sprint on bicycle on uphill, using maximum exertion. After I finished uphill, I almost lost consciousness. At home I was spitting blood from my mouth. For few hours I felt like dying and considered calling ambulance. Thanks but no more high intensity for me. Doesn't seem healthy.
>>76635705Strange because you responded like an immature child and use no punctuation.>>76635723>but it might be fixed withI'm here telling you how I fixed it, if it was a nutrition problem what I did wouldn't have worked.I'm not "coping" by just training like this, training like this got me back to my strength from my 20s.You think I haven't already read all the standard advice? It's just eat more, sleep more, take useless supplements, or start trt. I've done all but trt.>even olderGood for you, maybe low test and aging hasn't hit you yet, maybe it hit me too soon, but this is how I fixed it.
>>76635769i'm stronger than i was in my 20s. Its a myth you get weaker as you get older. You sound like a retard and an imbecile working out too much and fatiguing yourself like an idiot. Working out wrong and coping with "im old boohoo" typical doomer dyel moment
>>76635744its funny because mentzer recommends just leisurely cycling
>>76635357>Relaxed>PosingReally makes me think
>>76635368Alex Jones was a dyel?
>>76635357Never got into Mentzer's works really. How different was it from Dorian Yates method?
>>76635769>I'm here telling you how I fixed it, if it was a nutrition problem what I did wouldn't have worked. You have a learning disability. If you're deficient in something you can't train as hard and not hurt yourself. You treated the symptom, not necessarily the cause.
>>76635368It's so obvious from listening to this guy talk he's a complete crackpot and grifter.
>>76635412>only steroid users benefit from low volume>only steroid users can recover from high volumeWhich is it
>>76635852He really sounds like these guys trying to sell paid courses lol
>>76635862>He really sounds like these guys trying to sell paid courses lolHe sold nautilus machines.
>>76635869Were they good at least?
>>76635852 a lot of stuff mentzer says is just wrong and almost like funny trolling. Hes right about somethings. Yates is better with his opinions, they both had this guy as a mentor
>>76635871>Were they good at least?I think so, I might have used one a long-ass time ago. He is a shyster though, to an extent. He might not outright lie but he'll tell you the right facts to make a deal.
>>76635357Mentzer largely killed it. He kept revising heavy duty trimming it down taking out sets adding more rest days until it became virtually dysfunctional. Jones was much closer with 2 sets I think every 3rd or 4th day. HIT has since been modernized in things like dante trudels doggcrapp training and doug mcguff md's 'body by science'. Which are more functional with and without steroids than anything Jones or Mentzer came up with. HIT is now more of set style you do accessories rather than compounds where it shines the most and does the least damage.
>>76635844>You treated the symptomThe issue was that I was getting weaker, not that I couldn't train hard.I changed my training and got stronger, the issue is solved. Why are you hung up on the method? Why do I have to train hard when I got stronger doing less?
>>76635926>The issue was that I was getting weaker, not that I couldn't train hard.Might as well say the issue was that I was getting injured. If you were getting weaker from high intensity without deficiencies, volume must have been too high.>Why are you hung up on the method?I'm hung up on bullshit, like -people saying HIT doesn't work, when it does-people saying it's over because of age. let alone 30s, that's just ridiculous.
>>76635427>It's the kids fault the parents didn't do their jobLmao kill yourself. Only absolutely fucked up retards who grew up in hellish households spew out these excuses for their parents btw
>>76635357HIT works when you take it to failure and progressively overload and lift proper weight at +80% of your 1rm. That's how yates, mentzer and cutler trained.HIT nowadays means : how can i do the least amount of effort and still get gains (impossible lmao)
>>76635631>>76635679>>76635705Wtf i thought mean peak in their 30's.
>>76636014you can be a strong man all the way into old age
>>76636005>HIT nowadays means : how can i do the least amount of effort and still get gains (impossible lmao)
>>76635368There is excercise which can skyrocket your vo2 max by using kettlebelt swing squats while you limit your breathing. Your body adapts fast because it has to produce more energy while it has limited oxygen thus vo2 efficiency skyrockets. Swimming is also great for this.
>>76636035>swimming at vo2 maxGreat way to drown. Thanks.
>>76635999i also provided a solution for the problem, not just talking shit. also what excuses?if you weren't a massive pussy who takes everything personally, you would have realised
>>76636096Just don't be retard. For example for front crawl instead of breathing every second stroke you breathe in after 3 or more strokes while keeping steady pace. You might feel like you are suffocating If you go too fast but that feeling subsides once your body gets more efficient at utilizing oxygen. Best part about vo2 maxing is helps you in every single physical aspect.
>>76636102Stop justifying why your daddy raped you, it wont unrape your mind
>>76636112Lol
>>76636106don't be a retard = don't swim at vo2 max
>>76635368>>76635577If you can't run 5k in 20 min or less you are not fit
>>76636106If you don't want to be retarded you'd just do 4x4 the normal vo2 routine if you have a fitness tracker it's almost twice as effective if you only do it on high hvr days.
>>76635427Nah I played outside and I was always one of the relatively strong kids. Took to weights in the 8th grade. I still don’t think I would get any benefit from the extreme low volume. My muscles need more stimulation or my CNS fails too fast either one.
>>76635357I assume people discovered that it burns them out with very little measurable improvement. As an old coach once told me "any idiot can make themselves tired"
>>76635357HIIT was in no way high intensity, nor intervals, nor training.
>>76636586HIT not HIIT
>>76636005Cutler never trained to failure tho
>>76636014That was a terrible, cruel lie told by ancient grifters in order to sell pua programs
>>76635504No. We're heading back to an intermediate condition which made up the traditional methods>High effort sets>Moderate volume>adequate rest>2-3 full body days per week with 72 hours between sessions>one exercise per body part each workout, 3-4 sets each>Muscular Failure for all appropriate motions>Mechanical failure for the rest
training to failure is really hard.people would rather fluff up with volume
>>76637346If you do only few reps, for strength, then training to failure isn't hard. High rep to failure is hard...
>>76636005>>76636919Cutler is the poster boy for training high volume and with mostly machines and dumbbells
I literally go to failure 3 times a week and works way better than going 5 times week like I did before and I dont even follow mentzer, its just what Ive observed in my 10 years lifting
>>76637346This is the training to failure physique
>>76637346Never use the rope. Only use a fixed bar so you can exert as much force as possible through your triceps without needing to worry about stablization.
>>76635631>I'm 36 and it's become literally impossible to recover from any high intensity workoutsTime + nutrition + sleep = recoveryYou're fucking something up.
>>76636014>i thought mean peak in their 30's.Nah, you hit your peak right after your mid 20's. Once you hit 30 you start to take longer to recover, and you start to atrophy faster if you don't train. Your 20's is your superman decade of peak performance and peak recovery, so enjoy it while you have can.
>>76636576...Anonymous09/18/25(Thu)10:30:15 No.76636576>I assume people discovered that it burns them out with very little measurable improvement.This. You hear the same thing every single time. "I just started high intensity and my gains are going through the roof!"Fast forward 2 weeks. They've stopped talking about high intensity because they're already regressing on their lifts and they're tired all the time. Another month and they've stopped all together because they've backslid so far. That's why no one who claims they're doing high intensity training ever posts body and they never will. Poster boys like Dorian (And Mentzer) didn't build their body on high intensity. And the so-called improvement from '91 to '92 when he started it also came with a massive increase in dosages, additions of insulin and hgh. And even then he started looking like shit the last couple years after he kept hurting himself training like an idiot.
>>76637873You and they are simply doing it wrong then. You can't fuck yourself up so much you're not ready to lift 3 days later with one set. If you're running around the gym doing one set of every exercise so it ends up being seven max effort sets per muscle, you're doing it wrong.
>>76638086And this is always the other response.>You didn't lift hard enough>you lifted too hard>you didn't rest the minimum two weeks between workoutsJust say HIT is bullshit and that's why not one single pro gets to their place by doing it
>>76635857it is both you dumb idiot. Roid users do all kinds of shit, because roids allow it and because roids grow muscles no matter what roiders do.
>>76638101>Just say HIT is bullshitI do it more often than not, and it "not working" is never the reason I don't do it. Sometimes I want to take it easier so I do an extra set a little softer. Sometimes I want to do 1-3 reps and there are issues doing max intensity there. For about a year now, 6 (or 7) day PPL. I'm lifting about 35 minutes a day average. Feel good almost all the time. Blow me.
>>76638124Late 40s btw. Blow me twice.
>>76638124Post body
>>76638287left
>>76635357It's been trending for a year or two so far. When 90% of the newbies doing HIT realize they didn't make any gains it will die out. So in a couple of weeks.
>>76637618but doesn't this mean your rom is reduced?
>>76638512not unless you have weird double jointed arms that let you hyperextend
>>76638522with the ropes you can go to the side of your legs a little, the bar just stops right in front of them
>>76638512Stability > ROM
>>76635368Running is superior for logistical reasons, i.e. you don’t need to buy equipment and you’ve known how to do it since childhood. He’s generally right about weight training though. Is it easier to run for 30 minutes straight or do do higher rep supersets for a 30 minutes without any breaks? You all know damn well which one is more difficult and it’s not close.
>>76637873>after he kept hurting himself training like an idiot.having trained both, I got way more injuries training high volume (primarily overuse in my wrists and my chest from lots of benching and pressing)
I always feel like a faggot when I just do one set to failure. Rest-pause or DC Training feels way better.
>>76635368Still waiting for you fags realize that you can run AND lift weights.
>>76639102When I'm training there are essentially two points of "failure", there's the initial failure when my muscles are basically just gassed and can recover enough to do a few more reps after 5-10 seconds, then there's actual failure where no matter how hard I'm pushing I can't move the weightRest-pause is really good at getting to actual failure and not just that first initial point of failure
>>76638566god damn you people are actual fucking retards
>>76639313Make a point.
>>76635357Thats roids ill beat his ass
>>76637346>he didn't try for another onePUSSY
HIT is the kind of training philosophy you'd get if you designed it off a 5 minute roidtranny motivational video.
>>76635357People found a new lifting fad to follow. It doesn't matter how good, bad, or popular a system was: new lifters will always gravitate towards the newest routines/diets/etc. for the simple fact that everyone wants an "edge" over what they and others were previously doing in order to either catch up or surpass their historically shit progress.
