Big picture 2 is enough if they're taken to a clean failure. 3 is enough if it's there but maybe some partial rep was left in reserve. 4 is enough if you just have no idea and it just kind of won't go anymore. 5+ you have no idea it's at the end of your workout just gonna half ass these sets and call it when it hurts.

very complicated issue.

if you are an expert and u can properly stimulate ur muscle, then 3 is plenty. but if a particular set makes u feel more pumped and ur feeling good, then adding 1-2 extra sets can be good.

if ur a novice, likw 99% of ppl i see at the gym without sufficient knowledge to fully isolate and/or stimulate muscle, then you certainly need more than 3 sets to practice and target the muscle fully.

conclusion is that the lesser the junk volume, the more likely you will gain. but, not many ppl can fully stimulate the muscle properly so they need to do more.

I hate this fucking guy because he has some legitimately useful old videos like face pulls and talks a lot about reducing injury (inb4 Mets had a high injury season with him as coach), but then went full grifter.

seeing one thumbnail like that and I would never click on any of his videos, even though he had useful stuff a long time ago.

I do 3x10 on my lifts for the day, then do cardio, and after 30 min I do 2x6 at +10#

is this dumb? I dont understand how this works. it doesnt matter if I rest 30 seconds or 90, seconds, I am totally gassed after 3x10, but only after like 30 fuckin min can I then get this extra strength???

I do 3 sets of 8 purely for time reasons. The tried and true method is 5x5 or 25 reps, with 3x8 I get damn close to 25 reps (seriously what difference is a single rep going to make) and spend less time on each exercise. Optimization!
