What does /fit/ think of Zercher Squats? Are these a meme exercise? Chances of blowing out your elbows?
>>
>>76639731
They are retarded.
>>
meme exercise you should never do unless you want to injure your arms
holding a weight in your arm joints is not an exercise
>>
>>76639731
Simply inferior to Zercher deadlifts.
>>76639745
Bro, your arms must be so tiny and fragile lmao. I have relatively small arms, but 5pl8 Zercher shrugs don't even come close to giving them issues.
>>
They’re good for a quick sesh when you’re short on time
>>
>>76639759
t. retard
unless an exercise involves contracting a muscle its not a bodybuilding exercise
>>
>>76639768
Zerchers squats, deadlifts, etc. all involve muscle contractions.
In any case, nobody is claiming that it's a "bodybuilder exercise". That's irrelevant to the discussion.
>>
>>76639775
you just put the weight on your back you dumb nigger

>What does /fit/ think of Zercher Squats?
Literally the best squat variant.
>Are these a meme exercise?
No, they blew up my core, lower back, and traps, alongside my quads.
>Chances of blowing out your elbows?
Literally zero if you aren't retarded. I went from starting them with a slow build-up from 10->20kg, to doing 3 plates for 1 in about 3 months or so. Your elbows get used to them pretty quickly.
I only do them once a week now thoughbeit, same as deadlifts.

this guy is such a dumbass, hes the king of not lifting

>Now that the dust has settled... Anonymous
The dust will never settle on anything fitness related. People can't even agree that lifting heavy is good for gains these days.
People can't even agree that stretching increases flexibility (seriously).
>>
>>76639802
i wasn't aware this was a sharty meme, i had only seen it used on /int/
thank you for informing me, i do not want to be conflated with the absolute faggots on that site
>>
>>76639731
Zercher anything is meme tier
>>
>>76639797
post a photo of you holding the same weight the same way hes holding it
>>
>blowing out your elbows
Of all the reasons to not do zercher squats, this is the dumbest one. The level length is negligible, you put fuck all stress on your elbows.
>>76639784
Yes, and the weight simply moves itself without any muscles acting. Fascinating perspective.

Okay, please elaborate on your mental gymnastics for how he's not in fact lifting the weight overhead here.
>>
>>76639881
I'm not fat enough to rest 7pl8 (but they're 25's, so it's really 8.75pl8) on my beer belly
>>
>>76639731
They're good. I do them as a finisher on lower body day. I'd make them my main squat variation but they fatigue biceps, and I like to superset legs/bis/lateral delts.
>>
>>76639731
Very based
>>
>>76639731
>Chances of blowing out your elbows?
Zero you retard.

For legs? They are medicore.
For core and back? Pretty good.
They are great especially if done with lighter weight and focus on holding it as high as you can, like a halfway front squat.

Brainlet. It takes load off posterior chain and focus on your core, back and quads.
>>
>>76639731
Zercher is redundant as a squat and S tier as everything else, never felt my traps doing shrugs or bar deadlift shrugs until i start loading zercher with 4pl8
They gave me weird lumps on my forearms tho lol
>>
I'd do them but I have no idea how to set it up. When I've done them it feels like the most comfortable way to squat for me, but I don't know how to get into that position without help or some awkward as fuck movement.
>>
>>76640814
How many plates it that?
I'm doing sets of 2 plates for high reps and I can't see myself ever doing much more then this. It's exhausting.
>>
>>76640834
Tense core and back. Treat it as a front squat but held low on your arms and not your front delts.

It allows your back to take more control of the movement where as a front squat will slay your core.

You can get more core work in by holding it higher.
>>
>>76640848
I don't know how to get it into the starting position in the first place. Like with front squats I can just clean it and back squats can be taken easily from the rack, but zerchers are awkward as fuck to get into starting positions unless there's a trick I'm not aware of.
>>
>>76640863
Set rack arms to about your belly button height.
You can deadlift them up but once weight goes over100kg its awkward as fuck.
>>
>>76640863
Set the rack up to the right height
>>
>>76640863
If you're starting from the ground and hoisting heavy load you need to get into a very deep sumo squat position and basically tens up every fiber of your body to lift it, if it's light you can jefferson curl it then get into position midway
Prefferably for heavy weights start with the bar at waist height and engage your traps
>>
>>76639797
truthnuke, he just jerks the bar with his gut lol
>>
>>76641186
Yeah
>>
>>76641186
>>76641320
even if you 2 were as fat as him, you still wouldn't be strong enough to imitate him
>>
>>76640836
That's a 6 plate zercher. It's not me, he owns the gym i go too.
>>
>>76640814
Zero
>>
>>76640828
>takes load off posterior chain

>Brainlet.
>>
>>76639731
They're great. Don't listen to retards who have never done them like this fag >>76639745
As you do them regularly you'll notice that your traps will get noticeably bigger (due to time under tension from carrying the weight for the entire duration of each set) and that your core gets stronger in weird ways (due to being recruited for the entire duration of each set to prevent the weight from tipping forwards). As a bonus, they terrify glassbacks.
>>
>>76639731
why would you do these over back squats
>>
>>76642835
The center of gravity is greatly shifted forward, allowing you to squat really deep even if you have trash mobility. The other consequence of this is that you're forced to recruit your core during the entire movement to keep the weight from tipping you forward, which makes your core very strong if you do these consistently. Additionally, by varying the angle of your torso, you can adjust the degree to which the movement is quad-dominant or hip-hinge-dominant on the fly. Finally, they freak gymbros and glassbacks out.
>>
>>76639731
Seems like a good core developer, i usually do super strict front and highbar trying to get a bigger ribcage.
>>
>>76640828
There’s many other things that do the exact same thing without fucking your arms up. It’s fine you like them, but they are pointless
>>
>>76642862
>fucking your arms up
You've clearly never tried them, so why are you acting like some kind of authority?
>>
>>76642835
Right now, there's something wrong with my back, and I can't do back squats, but Zercher squats feel fine.
>>
>>76639731
they hurt my shoulders
