This might be a long shot, but are there any other dads here with experience working out while sleep deprived from a newborn?

Baby is 2 weeks old and I haven’t had more than 3 hours uninterrupted sleep since the birth. Watching myself slowly get soft and rusty, especially with eating snacks round the clock for energy. FWIW I’m cutting.

Ear plugs, noise cancelling headphones, turn off your wifi (yes babies ears are much more sensitive). Ideally you have a faraday cage you can put your baby into

Take turns getting up with your woman. That way only one of you loses sleep for a night at a time

You're only two weeks in? You will look back on these days as "when it was easy."

How does it get harder?

Bullshit, my son is 5 years old and 0-1 was the hardest period ever. It's only been getting easier

reduce the intensity and volume. You will lose muscle but gain it back in a few years once your sleep is back to normal

I just didn't lift really until baby was 1 year+. Could have done it around the 3 month point but my wife still needed a lot of help around the house and stuff.
Now that I'm at the 15 month point it's a lot easier - I usually get 6-7hours of sleep and lift at evenings/night so I feel fine in the gym. It's not ideal, and if/when your child goes to daycare, be prepared to always have some sort of cold/cough but I just push through it.

For the immediate solution, see you can get some cheap stuff at home assuming you don't have a home gym and try and squeeze in the basics, that helped me a lot. Also, find some hilly areas around you that you can push your baby in a stroller at. It's not great and I recommend prioritizing sleep as much as you can now.

Congratulations brazza
Ditto what all the anons above said, please get as much sleep as possible to help with your health and mood.
I tried doing everything in the house and for the baby to help the missus recover from her ceasarean, I was absolutely wrecked three weeks in given our baby would go finally go to sleep at 3am.

I can't begin to imagine how the extra stressors of lifting heavy and dieting would compound the fatigue. Hopefully increased sleep keeps the cortisol controlled as much as possible; in addition to the baby, you are managing your's and your partner's mood / hormones. The other anon's suggestion of daily walks / hills is a great idea, baby needs their Vitamin D for 15 minutes a day in the mornings anyway if you've been recommended.

All the best to you and the family. Wagmi.

Similar situation here. My routine has gotten a bit discombobulated but here is what I’m trying
>switch to full body routine so that even if I only get 1-2 sessions in per week, I’m hitting all my groups
>if I only have a limited time, get a quick jog in at least
>make sure I’m not dipping the weight I use on the main lifts, even if I need less volume on accessories
>occasionally I’ll just “grease the groove” on pull-ups, pushups and bodyweight squats at home
>track my calories and protein
>get all my caffeine and l-theanine first thing in the morning

You’re cutting so that could be affecting your energy too.

Yes, my baby is 8 weeks now. Definitley took a few weeks to get a routine but it has helped a ton having a home gym set up while on paternal leave. My wife JUST started getting back to her spin class this week. Just go at least for walks if you can for your sanity. But yeah I am living on caffeine pills and preworkout these days. Remember, any exercising even if for 10 min is better than nothing. If you dont have a homegym you can at least do yoga and shit at home and run outside. It will get better my brother as your baby falls into a routine, and lastly CONGRATS!!!

>have a social life
>set up group activities with friends
>get them to invite people
>leverage your friend group to meet single women
>don’t be desperate but be honest about wanting marriage and kids
