>>76645095childhood trauma or something
I walk into the bar with my boys. They order drinks. I’m already mad.Mad at myself. Mad at life. Mad that the bartender looked at me like I was normal. They slam a shot in front of me.I stare at it. Then suddenly I grab the glass and chew it like it’s breakfast cereal.Blood’s running down my chin, glass cutting up my gums. Extra carbs for my next marathon. My boys are yelling, “Goggins! You’re bleeding!”Good.I stand up and scream:“I EARN MY PEACE THROUGH PAIN! THIS IS HOW YOU FIND OUT WHO THE HELL YOU ARE!”I grab the pull-up bar above the doorway — don’t care if it’s theirs, don’t care if it’s rusty.First 100 reps? Warm-up.200 reps? Hands are shredded.300 reps? Blood on the bar, slipping off — don’t matter.400 reps? Mind is gone, body’s gone — now we’re finally in the fight.500 reps? I’m laughing like a lunatic.I drop down, chest heaving, bar stained red. While you were sipping your little drinks, I was building a war chest of pain. You don’t find greatness in comfort, you find it when you’re bleeding, sweating, and everyone thinks you’re crazy.Stay hard.
>>76645116This motivated me, I'm not kidding
>>76645110everyone has traumas, but 99% don't have this discipline
>>76645150his uncle butt raped him and he has been running away ever since
>>76645095Is he anymore disciplined than any other ultrarunner? Not denying he is tough but it's not like he's one of the top runners. He amatuer tier in a spot where even amatuers are impressive. Like he finished 23rd at bigfoot 200. Granted he's older now, but he was never an elite. He does however talk a lot more than most the elites (who tend to be pretty chill)
>>76645189Less so, most ultra runners exercise a lot of restraint in their training. To avoid injuries and dips in performance that could take the years to get back.
>>76645189He finished a marathon without any prior preparation. That requires more willpower than any marathoner has ever had. It's not about being the best, it's about having more willpower. He's also a SEAL and a pull-up record holder, as well as a businessman.
>>76645095there are people who have never worked out in their lives and work harder than this retard. discipline is genetic
>>76645209lmao if you think nobody has finished a marathon on little training. Marathon's are over-hyped. What's hard is running fast for that distance, not covering 26.2 mi in under the 6hr cutoff. Secondly, he was a navy seal, so far from no prior preparation. Endurance training sticks with you even if there are short term losses (namely cardio) someone who ran xc highschool then stopped will pick up milage and speed much easier in the mid 30s than someone who never ran (you see this a lot on running forums, where a past xc runner goes out and runs there first marathon in < 2:45).It's different willpower. Takes a hell of a lot of will power to properly train for 6+ mo too. Elites can consistently do >100 mi weeks w/ cycling. That's takes a ton of willpower. Killian Jornett is currently doing his "States of Elevation" challenge he has logged over 200 hrs of activity in 13 days trying to summit every 14,000+ ft mountain in the US with only human transportation (running, cycling). That takes plenty of will power. And I respect proper training a lot more than forcing your body through something it isn't strong enough to do. What he does is hard but I don't know why you would want to do that instead of training for races better in the first place. And if you follow the elites those fuckers are just as tough. Courtney won a 100 mi trail race after loosing her vision with 10 mi to go, blindly falling on a rock and cutting her forehead to the point she was dripping blood. Watch some docs, they all have an inability to quit.Yes he is impressive. But he is not an outlier in the field of ultra's (where his fame came from). He is just the one who made himself an influencer and tells undisciplined people what they want to hear without actually changing their lifestyles just like every other influncer. Rouche is the only other one doing this but at least he is actually a top runner and trying to provide actual useful training tips
>>76645095Not disciplined enough to take care of his kids. Typical nog
>>76645209>That requires more willpower than any marathoner has ever had.And less brains than most men that ever lived
imagining the son he abandoned is right behind him
>>76645473you don't understand.
>>76645095Being "so disciplined" is an intermediate skill that he's managed to sell to couch potatoesthat are in love with the "culture" of being tough but never truly engages with it. There's millions of people on earth that could easily run until they faint or exercise til lethal rhabdo on command, pushing yourself to the limit is heavily overstated as a barrier in athletics. The only way he's special is his stack and solid genetics. His mental ability to push his boundaries is lrgitimately a dime a dozen

>>76645095Abandoning your kidmaxxing leaves you a lot of free time to roooooon
>>76645095adderall and ephedra, probably also nicotine gum
>76646008he doesn't use drugs
>>76645652How to unlock this discipline?
>>76646068https://youtu.be/ZXsQAXx_ao0?feature=shared
>>76646068literally just do an endurance sport for a year with good environment and people that push you and more often than not you'll be able to do it. it really isn't some forbidden knowledge, it's a fundamental human ability
>>76646134Stuff like the yips, flow state, nerves, these are things that are actually hard for elite athletes to manage. sports psychologists teaching athletes to "push themselves to their limits" is basically unheard of, because this is something even most amateur athletes can just do, it's not an elite skill, it's purely something you sell to fans and spectators because it's much sexier and harder sounding. if anything, the other way around is much more of an issue, too many athletes will not communicate with their team about injuries or fatigues and will hurt themselves or overtrain.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqCRmbeDQUshttps://www.irunfar.com/dave-johnston-iditarod-trail-invitational-350-mile-champion-interview>iRunFar: How’s it going?>Dave Johnston: Oh, a little rough. The last couple days, I think, have been harder than the race. I’ll tell you, all the aches and things now.>iRunFar: You’re feeling a little bit older now than before you started the race?>Johnston: Definitely. I can feel the things coming back to life that got numb out there. They’re not coming back to life very happy.>iRunFar: Is this numb from cold or numb from the mechanical effort?>Johnston: Oh yeah, just from pushing it too hard, pushing without stopping. The muscles are just… everywhere muscle damage.>iRunFar: Big picture—how is your body? A lot worse than last year?>Johnston: Maybe a little more beat up than last year because last year I didn’t do the Susitna 100 the week before the race. So my feet hadn’t recovered from that in that week’s span. So then they’re a little more numb than last year. The toes are a little blacker. I’ve got a few more blisters. I think my muscles (quads and calves) seem a little more tortured this year.>iRunFar: What do you mean your toes are black?>Johnston: All the toenails and everything just turned black, you know, like they normally do in a marathon.>iRunFar: We’re not talking about frostbite; we’re talking about the normal pressure build-up-type stuff.>Johnston: Yeah. It’s weird, the tops of my feet are bruised. I think it’s just from having the laces tied so tight for so long. Things that normally wouldn’t happen over 100 miles, over 350 miles it really starts to bruise you. He's not unique
>>76646212He's unique in making a big fuss about it, no one can match him in how narcissistic he and melodramatic he is about doing difficult endurance challenges. Most people at that level would be too embarassed.
>>76645116Kek this is so true
>>76646064He takes roids but doesn't take any mental/performance enhancers before or during a race? Not even caffeine which 100% of athletes use?
>>76645209glazer
>>76645095He's running away from his wife and daughter
>>76645095All he does is roon my dude. Not a very difficult activity. He'd give up becoming a physicist the second he saw a derivative and not particularly because hes black
>>76645095at some point you do get addicted to exercisei think it's due to endorphinsit's called "runner's high". i think.
>>76645116Based as fuck. I'm glad I'm not a normalfaggot who goes out drinking with people though, sometimes im glad im a loner

>>76645116Based
>>76647348am i wrong?
You guys still saying that he abandoned his daughter but he addressed it and he was not only been paying child support all these years but also handed her half a million just because. The daughter is just a nig trying to get money from him while she and her mother was treating him like shit.Your response?
>>76645095because hes a vain nigger than has to do this to appease his whoredom for views
>>76647389>it's the child's fault for being so needyjesus you celeb fuckers are lost cause
>>76647438It's not about neediness, she became an adult and the child support ended then she went online saying lies that he is a deadbeat. We are not talking about a toddler but a full grown nigger.
>>76647456Who has every right to not like people idolizing the dad who abandoned her and is now publically "fixing" his mistakes once it has come back to negatively impact his own fame.
>>76645209It's not like he has never ran before. I had a family friend that did roofing for a living and used to play hockey as a teen, he did the exact same thing, entered a marathon on a whim, no preparation at all, finished it comfortably, didn't make a stink about it, didn't think he was some kinda warrior for doing it, his friends would almost certainly deem him a huge nancy faggot if he had tried to spin such a frivolous hobby activity like that. Goggins is similar, sure he had let himself go for a bit, but he had an active background, the way he did a marathon should lead to discomfort, sure, but it's not crazy to finish without preparation if you had an active background. I remember seeing a climber do a northman ironman with 14 days of prep recently, significantly harder to pull off.
>>76647468No, lol. We are talking about straight up lies, she wanted nothing to do with him, but once he had money suddenly he became the deadbeat. This is a phenomena that lots of men go through, they pay child support for years for a child that hates them because the mother completely ostracize and estrange them from their kids. In this case there is also huge profit in the middle of all of this. A deadbeat who abandons his child doesn't pay half a million for them to have a luxurious life, grow up.
>>76645095Mental grit is important for working and feeding your family, however his shit doesn't apply well to sports, tell me who will have a better lifting session or in this case a marathon (because we are talking of David goggins, and this is the reason he is still in amateur marathonist range)Chad runner who is hyped up because he loves the sport, has been training with joy, full of testosterone and low estrogenizing cortisol, fully rested 8 hours of sleep with a healthy breakfast or a sad incel who is only doing this because "muh much discipline", his stress is in hrt testosterone replacement levels, 4 hours of sleep (had a nightmare too), and his breakfast was 2 monsters because he feels incredibly drained and tiredStop trying to evade or make your problems disappear with sports because its pussy behaviour and it's actively destroying your gains, solve the problem and lift when you are fully rested
>>76647520>toddler walked out on her father>comes back into his life now that he is famousAgain you are a lost cause.
>>76645209>>76645409fat alcoholic comedian bert chrysler finished a marathon without any prep too. not impressive at all
>>76647567You are low iq you have no argument, you just believe something for no reason or at least you can't articulate it and you can't follow the simple logic and reality of a break up with a kid. It's fine you are not the first.
Coritsol destroys your body
>>76645095Self hatred and mental illness.
>>76645116
>Goggins abandoning his wife and kid was good actually because after he abandoned them they didn't like him anymoreKEK!!!!! Gogtards are so fucking delusional it's unreal. Just accept that he's just as big of a piece of shit as his father was. It's ok that you like his ghostwritten book. It's quite a good book.
>>76645095how many knee surgeries is this guy at again?
Blud is dumb as hell.
>>76645095Too bad the nigger didn't have the discipline to take care of his own kid. He's a self-absorbed sociopath, a burden to society, a drone for the army and a liar when it comes to his training and roiding.
>>76645095He has nothing else to do
>>76647334Y-yeah me too...
>>76650250Why do you care so much about his relationship with his daughter? Do you want to marry him?
>>76645095it's not really discipline because he enjoys doing it. do something you don't enjoy for every day of the year for 2 hours a day, if you can do that then you're disciplined.
Once it becomes a habit, "discipline" isn't real. Most people are afraid to start anything, afraid to commit to anything. But once you get into something and stick with it for a bit then there isn't something pulling you to really stop. I go to the gym almost every day because it feels weird not to, I'm used to doing it, it's fun, etc. There's not a conscious force of will pulling against me to stop doing it that requires some magic "discipline" to keep me going.

>>76645116I wanna run through a wall now.
>>76645095Ego
>>76645095Running is the nigger of sports and training. Takes little to no effort to make significant gains and doesn't particularly require discipline. It's why running/jogging is the biggest exercise practiced by far.
>>76651550True. People call me "disciplined" for going to the gym 6x/wk but to me going to the gym is no different than brushing my teeth and it would be strange to commend someone as being disciplined for brushing their teeth every morning.
>>76645095He imagines he's running from the cops
