I tried lifting three years ago after an 8 year break. Then again last year but it feels like a waste of time every time I try.

I'm 39 and getting divorced. Started working out consistently for the first time in my life this March. Great results so far on stronglifts 5x5. My goal is to bench 2pl8 by my 40th birthday.

I'm in my late 30s and back at college. I think I'm blending in, some know me as the returning student rather than older student.
>>
>>76656609
You're not blending in and you don't want to. Young chicks like older dudes, just be sure to reframe your "return to college" as a luxury, not a necessity.

"Yeah, I more or less retired from my first career so I could pursue something more meaningful with my life. I figured, what's left after doing what you set out to do?"

Chicks love accomplished guys who are bored with the world and have decided to challenge themselves because there are no other challenges left.

I'm 33, retired and am learning violin because the world is so gay the only straight thing to do is focus on myself. I may run out of money in 5-6 years or I may die, who cares. Jewdaycare sucks

After being a fatfuck for the latter half of my 20s (maxed at 118 kg, mostly hovered around 112 kg) I am now at 98 kg at 33 and it feels fucking great. Aiming for 90. It's never too late boys.

I did everything right. Everything since 22 grinding. Noticed what’s missing?

I should have listened to the blackpillers. They were the correct ones, doing everything right and “making it” doesn’t give you shit if you’re average face manlet like me. I mog majority of my peers on income & social circle alone yet I can’t even get a date. I can’t even get Indian or Asian girls, I live in a state where even 6” is not that tall, I listened to redpill bros on here for years tell me it’s not over

But all I did was bury my head in the sand. Looks DO matter, a lot. Now I’m greyer and uglier, balder, and sadder. If I listened to the blackpill guys at 22 I would have saved for LL or some surgeries, hell at least a head start. Take it from a jaded defeated boomer, looks determine this shit. I know, I wanted the roomers to be wrong so bad but it’s true
Godspeed to you all. If you’re under 25, focus on getting pretty/lean and keeping your looks. Everything else is a big fat Lie

37 reporting in.

Been going 4/5 times a week for last 12 months and seeing massive gains. Workouts last usually 45min - 1 hour. Bro spilt.

I've always been athletic, but weight fluctuated a lot depending on what sport I played (was 95kg when playing rugby or 84kg when playing soccer years later).

I'm around 110kg now and focused purely on stregth and hypertrophy.

Will start a cut in a few weeks with the aim of losing 5kg - 8kg.

1RM:
Bench Press - 1 x 100kg
Squat - 1 x 120kg
Deadlift - 1 x 170kg
OHP - 1 x 67.5kg

Had some light hip soreness this summer. Went on a trip and took it easy, came back and it was fine. Started to flair up again recently. Worse than before. Taking it easy for a few days and have another week long trip. Hoping it will be better when I get back and I can focus on some better flexibility/stretching and strengthening to prevent it from coming back. But worried this might be it and I’ll have to become a cyclist. Shits expensive. I was getting close to a sub 3 hour marathon too.
>any hip/IT band strength/stress appreciated

38, I've been chronically fatigued this year and generally feel terrible, without being able to pinpoint the symptoms or the problem. I haven't exercised at all in 2025. I don't know if I can come back from this or if I ever feel like lifting again.

Ok give it to me straight, im turning 33 in 4 days and I broke up with gf earlier this year and with the other one last year. What are the chances of finding a good wife in 2026 and actually starting a family? I was cocky when i was breaking up with my exes but i just realized that i should have knocked up one of all those gf's and i'm starting to regret it.

If 30 it's the latest for a woman to have a child, what's the latest for a man? 35? And i mean being there for your children etc
>>
>>76658420
One of my friends just had his first kid at 40. He just found a younger Asian woman - she’s 31.
Just date younger. If you’re successful, keep it to a reasonable age gap, and treat her well no one will bat an eye.

>>
>>76658663
Nope. Come from zero generational wealth from a very poor part of my country. Worked a humiliating minimum wage job to pay for college, because my parents weren’t going to help.
It was a combination of planning, hard work, and luck.
Got a good degree, got a good job, went to graduate school, moved to a big city, got a better paying job, sold out and took a job in finance.
Lived on about 30-40% of my take home and saved/invested the rest in a basic index fund portfolio.
Along the way met a girl with a similar background and similar values, who ended up having just as much career success as me.

No kids.

I’m 33 and can pretty confidently say that I’m the biggest loser on here. And it will never change, because I do nothing to change my life. Instead I spend every waking moment ruminating about what I’ve done to myself. How I’ve gone through my childhood, teen years, 20s, and now early 30s with no accomplishments and no memories at all. I’ve been a failure for my entire life. There’s not even a reason to try, especially with how dire the future looks even more the most normal, well adjusted people my age who actually have things to live for like a family, wife, children, and career/financial goals. I don’t see any future worth living for. For what, some similarly mentally ill rejected woman just like me as a guy? Work to get some career to earn money when I don’t want to do anything with it? No guys have friends in their older age, all they have is their family, and I won’t have that so I’ll just be alone.

What do you think retirement is, retard?
>>
>>76656931

I have a teacher who is teaching me to play by ear. I have been practicing about 2 weeks and have the recognizable parts of Concerning Hobbits down. When I say "down", I mean, you can recognize the song I'm trying to play...no one would sit around and enjoy listening to it, however. But you can definitely tell the song I'm poorly playing

So I'll just say, it is quicker to learn than you think likely because you are not realizing how fast time goes by as an adult. 6 months feels like yesterday to me at 33, while 3 months feels like a lifetime when you're in school on summer break.

I say, if you're considering pucking up an instrument, just focus on doing it and you'll be shocked how quickly you get to a point where you're playing something.... Poorly
>>
>>76658246

Personally I would not take any college courses for gaining knowledge when basically everything is free online. The only thing college courses are good for is hands on experience now. So if you want to learn say welding, I could see that as being useful. But if you want to learn philosophy for the love of God just buy some books from the enlightenment and read them yourself.
>>
>>76658420

"Finding a good wife", lol, my friend you don't find one, she reveals herself to you.

" By all means marry, if you get a good wife you'll be happy, if you get a bad wife you'll be a philosopher " -Socrates

There's fewer good women than ever, but the method for "finding" them is the same as always. Pick a woman, make her your wife and you'll find out soon enough if she's good or bad. If she's good, enjoy, if she's bad...that's when you start earning wisdom.
>>
>>76659065

I tore up my lower spine deadlifting 2 years ago at 31. Still not the same. I think my vertibres slid apart horizontally. Best of luck my friend, I'd love to be back doing it again but my spine doesn't allow it....I don't know how to relearn. Blew it up on only 255lbs, gay.

>>
>>76660328

You are mad at me because I told you the truth and I'm doing it again right now. It is your choice to hear it or not.

A lot of your gripes are true. The society is against us men, women even more so, but the life you desire isn't on the other side of bitching about it...it's on the other side of revolution. Don't complain about your lot in life, change it. Go read about the founder's and their beliefs on nullification and the 2 amendment (self defense). Yes, you'll probably die to some Fed faggot enforcing an unconstitutional law on you, but alteast you'll die a man. And, just maybe, if enough of us men stand up to tyranny some of us will make it to the other side and lead the very life you see as so impossible right now.

It's not hopeless, Jesus hasn't come back yet, so we got a shot to fix things or die trying. Nut up pussy.
>>
>>76660328
>>76660346

And when I say nut up pussy, I mean it about me 3 times as much as I mean it about you. We're all in this situation together and we all need each other. I need you and you need me, that's why I need you off your bitching post and fighting for a better society by saying "No" to this current society of tyranny.

33 here.
The last 6 years of my life, thru no fault but my own, have been absolutely soul-rending.
In short:
>dui at 27
>severely injure other involved
>gf leaves me after first lawyer suggests multi year prison sentence is coming
>lose coaching/teaching career
>finally go to jail, then house arrest
>as soon as I get out drivers license is suspended 3 years

In a few months the license suspension will be up, but I feel as if losing the career I went to college for, plus my first love, have left me really at a place where I don’t have any hope for a good future.

The worst part is, I can’t even be depressed properly. I still workout - in fact physically I’m the strongest I’ve ever been in my life. I’m working two jobs, carpentry and a golf course on weekends. And I am utterly and completely sober - no booze no weed no nicotine no nothing.
The above should be indicators of positive growth and happiness, and yet I feel as dead inside, as listless, as hopeless as I have ever felt consistently in my entire life. I have gone thru depressive periods, in fact I once tried suicide, but they were fleeting moments of extreme sadness, lasting typically no longer than a week. And I wouldn’t go to the gym or anything like that during them. I would just get stoned and mope in my bedroom.

This is completely different. Like, I still exist, it just feels like I have lose who I am inside. The light inside me has gone out. I have become bitter, and cynical, and this has lasted for so long I have lost track.
I don’t even have any dating apps. My entire life is work, gym, then go home and play video games. I am hoping to change the video game thing once I get my license back, but the sentiment still stands.
Brothers, I don’t even masturbate any more. Not for some no fap reason - I’ve just come to the conclusion that porn is Jewish soul rot, and I don’t have any interest in molesting myself with my hand.
How do I rescue myself from this hell of my own making?
>>
>>76660355
>How do I rescue myself from this hell of my own making?

You forgive yourself. Did you make an unwise decision? Yes. Did you mean for anyone to get hurt? No. You served your time, you learned your lesson, you aren't the guy who made that bad choice you're the one who learned from it. You're an honest dude who cares about others, unfortunately right now you aren't treating yourself with the same grace you give to others. Go look in the mirror, go look at the man before you and imagine you're seeing him for the first time as he's telling you his story, the story you just told me. Would you think that guy is worthless? Would you think he's a looser? I don't. I think you're strong and compassionate. I think you're a good dude. I think if you saw a friend feeling how you're feeling having been through what you've been through, you'd say the same to him. So it's my pleasure to get to be the one who says it to you since you'd do the same for me.

Your life isn't over, it's just beginning, but only if you really want it to. If you want to move on, then forgive yourself. (Side note, many women stick with their man through jail, I wouldn't focus on her leaving as a consequence of your actions too much. Maybe she did, maybe she didn't, either way, her choice was her own, don't carry it because it will burden you unnecessarily)

It's interesting to me that my shifted my focus more on health, cardio and longevity/quality of movement/precision task than simply unga bunga strength.
33 years old, 34 soon, this has been by far my most active, productive and hard-core year of my life. Getting married, moving with wife, renovating the house, I experienced the most growth and development in this year than I have in the past 33 years of my existence. Learned many things about the world and about myself.
As far as lifting goes it definitely took a hit in volume, but not intensity. I'm still as strong as ever but the act of gymcelling and lifting numbers seems to have gotten useless and boring to me. It just doesn't hit the same like it did when I was in my 20s. I'm shifting towards a more noble approach to strength, rather than vulgar carry, hoist, heave, move and drag. Not saying that noble strength > vulgar strength, but the focus is shifted as the age comes, and both are needed during certain periods for a man to be complete. The next in plan is to have children and I'll be sure to cultivate at least some modicum of respect towards strength in them.

But im stubborn as a mule and slapped on 45s to retest. Realized my low back was rounded, needed to lower my belly inbetweeny knees and flatten it. Put on 2pl8s again and lifted it just fine. Low back hurts a little today and theres some tingling in my foot so likely aggravated my herniation but idgaf, i figured out how to deadlift again and ill only be doing better from here.

Turn to Christ man. Even if the rest of this brief life is suffering you will have eternity in paradise.

His kids will die as well, if he has daughters the it's the same as not having kids since the husband takes over the inheritance and bloodline.

Geezerbros I keep fluctuating betweem "we're so back" and "it's so over, why bother"
>33
>living at home with parents
>was working in data/network cabling before
>started a new job a month ago in finance that my dad got me as a nepo hire (would not even be in the building if not for my pops)
>can feel the disdain other employees have for me because of this
>can't quit, this is basically my only option
>company is going to get me my life insurance license and get me working in compliance
>probably 25% of the time I am sitting there not doing shit and feel bad because everyone else seems so busy
>have not been in a relationship in ~10 years
>maybe get laid a few times a year
>dick does not work that well when I do
>only social exposure I get is with a little climbing group I'm a part of, but I haven't even done that since the middle of the summer
>started running this summer but have not had time to get out for a run since I started this job
>at least I've been lifting consistently
Idk if insurance/finance is right for me because it seems like you have to fucking live and breathe this shit to make any money but I'm comitting to it for at least 6 months. I'd love a job where I can just go in, do the tasks that are assigned to me, and get paid half decently for it.

idk oldbros what are your thoughts? how fucked am I? Is going back to school at my age a worthwhile endeavour?

Shoulders, chest? Arms?

And before you try to insult me:
Financial status: 3.8M at 33
Romance status: Married. Plan to have 6 kids on my homestead
Wife was the prom queen, Virgin when I met her. Still beautiful at 32
Auto status: Tesla; with e-scooter paid in full (220k before tax)
Looking for next mountain to climb.
Less depressing shit in here btw

Why do you fuckers even insist on deadlifting if you're gonna snap your shit lifting shit weight? It doesn't even properly stimulate the body nor induce hypertrophy, you're better off swimming laps. Yeah I enjoy the 'dlift too but if I see I'm clearly not built for it, I'll drop that shit. I'm not built to push, my OHP and bench are sub par, only pushed to hit 1 and 2 pl8 and never touched those lifts again. My shoulders are achy, my left arm is bent oddways, there's always something going on whenever I push remotely hard.
So I just focus on pulling and other stuff, by comparison my deadlift and squat are impressive, and I don't even do that anymore. I Zercher squat enough weight to be able to fuck my wife standing up without a problem, otherwise I'd rather sprint, hike or take long walks. I train pulls like I said, pull-ups and rows, I do biceps, I do work for back and traps.
There is genuinely no reason to be training a lift I'm really not suited for and fuck my shit up lifting kiddie weight. There's 15 years olds lifting 5x your max without any injuries (yet) and you're there breaking your back at 2 plates? Pathetic, you fell for the rhetoric of doing the difficult thing over and over. It's a psyop, rather I'd have you do the things you're good at over and over and achieve mastery over those.

just be glad you have a decent paying job dude. very few people have a job that they absolutely love. especially considering how you got in. my dad used to work in a high position in a bank, he would't even get me in even if it was to be a dishwasher.
>>
Americans are so lucky because there you can change career even if you're over 30
in my country it's basically impossible because of mentality + poor companies don't get state incentives on old hires
which is double stupid since Italy is getting really old and there's a lack of workers

36 retard here. doing pretty well, despite my health conditions. got injured from traffic accident, ended up with implants in elbow, wrist, spine and abdominal wall. managed to ohp 78 kg, bench 114 kg, squat 195 kg and deadlift 220 kg, all for single reps. but i think i overstressed my spinal implants so i have a surgery scheduled in less than two weeks from now.

How do you living fossils cope with hemorrhoids? I just popped one a week ago and not being able to lift is driving me crazy.

feeling pretty good lately as a 35yo boomer. did PPLPP this week, which is probably too much. rest after leg day is probably necessary, 4 days a week is probably more sustainable

33, been working out for 2.5 years. For the first 1.5 I used a home gym with limited equipment, now have access to a full gym 5 minutes from home.

I've always done full body workouts 3x a week in the evening because I've always hated waking up early. Due to work changes I'm trying to do 5-6 days a week PPL in the morning before work. A few questions;

Is there any "healthy" homebrew coffee I could be drinking? I just buy shit from Walmart and drink it black.

I'm used to my workouts taking as round 90-120 minutes, with PPL they're taking 60-75 minutes at most. I assume this is normal and I'm still getting the most gains if I use the splits correctly?

I also assume it'll get easier to maintain energy later in the day if I keep a good routine? Starting to crash around 8:30-9pm.

as someone who is in his early 30s, what's that feel like? I feel like I'm getting older. Can't imagine being 40+

I suppose its a feeling of vitality and mild positivity. Like out-of-the-blue good events can occur in my life, and grills not ignoring you yet. Oh, and a solid feeling of identity, of not being in flux like some 23 year old.
