Why is running considered the worst type of cardio for muscle gains, especially for your legs?
>>76657147It isn't though
>>76657147Destroys the cartilage, your joints. Ages you. Men were meant to swim
the wear and tear takes a toll. You're better off squatting for reps, avoiding lockout, platz-style

>>76657147People run too much. They will take up running for cardio, but will run a performance-based program.
>>76657147Idk something about the spikes in tension making it more difficult for repair on leg muscles. There's a kind of mesh work around muscle fibers attached to these mechanosensor. The mechanosensors are what spit out of mtor in response to tension with load and start the whole mps process. If you mess with this mesh by over stretching under light load it impairs its ability to fuction and signal for mps.
>>76657147because there just isnt enough resistance to build large muscles. if you look at the elite marathon runners like kipchoge his leg muscles are very small and lean, despite doing huge amounts of running. even elite short distance runners like usain bolt dont have particularly muscular legs, and what muscle he does have likely comes from lifting weights which he does to benefit his sprinting, rather than from the sprinting itself. running is great for cardio and general health, and will build some muscle if you are starting from 0, but if you actually want muscle gains you need to do resistance training. its just the mechanics of how the human body works.
>>76657147>Cardio>muscle gainsSir, that's like saying cocaine is the worst stimulant for sleeping. You aren't doing cardio to gain muscle.
>>76657401Sounds like a skill issue Positive Effects of Cardio on Muscle GainBetter Recovery & Work CapacityImproves circulation and oxygen delivery, which can help muscles recover between sets and workouts.A stronger cardiovascular system means you can push harder in lifting sessions without gassing out.Improved Nutrient PartitioningCardio (especially low to moderate intensity) can improve insulin sensitivity, helping nutrients go toward muscle instead of fat.Supports Fat Loss While Preserving MuscleIf you’re in a small calorie deficit, cardio can help with fat loss while strength training preserves muscle. Negative Effects of Cardio on Muscle GainThe “Interference Effect”Excessive cardio (especially high-intensity or long-duration endurance work) can send competing signals in your body, making it harder to maximize strength and hypertrophy.Think: marathon training + bodybuilding = not ideal.Energy DrainCardio burns calories. If you’re not eating enough to make up for it, you’ll slip into a deficit and slow or stop muscle growth.Potential Recovery ConflictToo much high-intensity cardio (like HIIT or running) can fatigue your legs and central nervous system, hurting performance in squats, deadlifts, etc. Best Practices if You Want Muscle + CardioKeep cardio sessions short-to-moderate (20–40 min).Favor low to moderate intensity (walking, incline treadmill, cycling, rowing) over long-distance running.Separate cardio and lifting sessions (or do cardio after lifting, not before).Limit frequency to 2–4 times per week if muscle gain is the main goal.Eat enough to cover the extra energy burn from cardio. In short: a moderate amount of cardio improves health, recovery, and fat control without hurting gains. Too much, especially endurance-style, can interfere with muscle growth.
>>76657406Pipo told me cardio helps with squats
>>76657406did you even read what chatgpt spat out at you? none of this says that cardio directly causes muscle gains. it mostly just says that it can aid strength training and promote fat loss.
>>76657147who the hell runs because they think it'll gain them muscle? that's retarded. running will strengthen your legs enough to run but nobody with a brain ever thought you'll get muh gainz from it.
i develop big external quad from running up hill but my inner quad are nonexistent. calves are still thin
I don't mind running as an exercise but I always tend to get shin splints after a few runs.
>>76657147look at mick jagger who's supposed to have run 8 miles a day
>>76657147>cardio for muscle gains
>>76657406>7Does this include sprinting too? i wanted to actually include some sprints at the end of training.
>>76657985The UK needs a bloody civil conflict
I’m gonna run a 3:25 marathon next month. I used to squat 250lbs for 3x5. Now I struggle to squat 165. So… maybe because it’s true?
>>76657985
>>76657147Do shirt distance sprints instead, humans were made to walk for several kilometers, not run them
>>76658848How many kilometers?
>>76657195>>76657322>>76657370what about jump rope? is running more taxing than that?
>>76657333He may be fat because of swimming. I still do it because it stimulates all muscles but swimming for an hour in open water for maybe half a mile burns like half the calories or less than jogging 4 miles.
