I have metabolic syndrome and am on medications for other health issues that cause weight gain. those things combined with age, I'm 62 have caused a lot of weight gain. As a teen all the way through my forties I was able to stay slim by starving and extreme exercise. anyone else would have been called anorexic but not me. I am 5'9 and big boned so even at a very low weight it never alarmed anyone. As I've aged starving doesn't work anymore and I'm no longer able to run 8 miles a day as I injured my knees. I'm here to attest you can gain weight really easily even if you eat very little and exercise every day. I walked 3 hours a day until I developed arthritis and other knee problems I can't afford to have fixed. life is complicated. everyone is dealt a unique situation. age, sex, economics, health, support systems,etc.
there is no magic, if you consume less calories than you consume, you won't gain weight. There is no "I eat 100g of bean every day and now I'm fat", let alone when doing low intensity cardio exercises such as walking which melt your glycogen reserves

>>76657418Having observed this before, I think a more than insignificant number of people have bad gut biomes and struggle to produce enough enzymes to fully absorb all of the crap they put in their bodies. The stomach being the way it is means that you can fit in far more food than can be reasonably digested and your digestive tract is also not able to reasonably absorb nutrients as it pushes through. You may just have been able to more efficiently absorb what you put into your body and that means you needed to observe even more closely what you actually eat.
