I'm resting for like an hour because home gym
Get to my level
>>
I rest for exactly 1 minute and 20 seconds because looking at the stopwatch on my phone prevents me from making unwanted eye contact with other people at the gym.

everyone who I've seen wear hentai merchandise in public looks like the comic book guy from the Simpsons.

Only time i remember seeung a jacket like that it was on a tranny checking into work release. Generated a lot of attention. Mask policy was in order so he looked like a chick.

Ask to work in? Is sacrificing your gains really worth not asking some gaylord treating it like the club to work in? Look they have an extra 200 a minth to look more fuckable. And they even got all gussied up too.

Spending time in the gym is gay, I've got shit to do.
200lbs bench 5×5? No time for that. It's faster to just do a single 5000lbs rep and move on.

These are the motherfuckers telling you that cardio kills your gains. OH NO ANONS! LOOK OUT! It's a set of stairs! You guys better take the elevator so your heart doesn't burst.

1.5 - 2 minutes most excercises.
3 minutes for squats.

I listen to 1 song per set and I specifically only have songs that are about 3 minutes long
>>
>>76659491
Cardio literally lowers your test because your body is simulating going to a new water or food source, similar to cutting weight. Hiit is worthwhile, and you only need to build a hard base for cardio even then it literally does destroy gains.

If you dont believe me take twins with the same exact bench, and have one do like some biking for fun whenever and the other run 2x/wk hard for over 20min youre nuts. Youre giving bad advice on the internet because you need the edge.
>>
>>76659441
Its just too much, all these intimidating dudes with abs strongarming me off machines, laughing at the weights i lift, hitting the bag at me looking over at me, im scared. Please god dont let one of gym chads in booty squat shorts decked out in cool gym gear beat me the frick up i almost take a poopy in my pants.
>>
3 minutes every exercise , if its a hard compound that got me fucked up like pull ups sometimes i rest 3:30
>>
>>76659775
I wouldnt go more than 2min if you really wanna get nice and toned, the logical extension of toned is ripped so just do the same thing while eating more and youll be bigger and leaner see best of both worlds.
>>
>>76659781
I was asking chatgpt about how long of a rest I should be taking, how that actually works biologically, and it was like "think of it like this- you are training yourself to do more work than other people can" i was like damn based

Oh and you're wrong cardio DOES NOT KILL GAINS

I would trust a thesis i wrote while bored on the toilet rather than fitness studies.

Ime
>hyperteophy and estimg all day
Is pretty good but if you want denser fibers and more cns strength, maybe even endocrine response then strength peaking for a few days if needed and 10min rest minimum, theres no reason not to take 30min unless youre worried about fat gain. But theres no benefit besides not getting fat in this time so take it or leave it. Being carbed up during the lift and eating well for several days prior is also a huge deal for gains, not carbed up your pump sucks and you keep less of it. Strength i like because it grows past the pump oddly enough, but i never just do one type of training im trying to put on strength asap i domt wanna be lifting for 5 more years to get 5pl8 bench.
>>
>>76660040
Hey if you're happy being wrong and a retard who am I to take that away from you Gump.
>>
>>76660057
Regukar cardio does nothing for inproving performance or health you can do it way less often. Cns fwtigue is very real and even if it were only a 20% difference of workload id still rather have more muscle and less fatigue. I already used to run hard a ton it barely takes anything to get back to a high level and i can work pretty hard in the gym without getting too beaten down im aware of the benefits. But working legs even 1x/wk or cardio im guessing even more ive found is a huge detriment. If the studies told you to put a dildo up your ass and wear bikinis would you do it? I know i sure as fuck wouldnt.
>>
>>76660088
From that reply I think you should be worrying more about alcohol consumption than cardio Gump
>>
>>76660109
Leave them alone theyre just feeling a little fwtigued

7 minute rest is good but you should do supersets and wait 3-4 minute between exercises
>>
>>76658689
The only reason I'd have a home gym is cos I'm 40 and I can't take the load I'm used to anymore. If I do a regular 5x5 with 160k I want to die the next day, I'm pretty much hungover. I want to try the series with like 3 hours of rest so much
>>
>>76658671
I don't rest as long, but I do rest for a couple of minutes when I'm squatting, I need my heart and lungs to calm down otherwise I'll have to bail mid set on my next set. I typically wait until I stop feeling really strong thumps when I touch my wrist veins, usually takes a couple of minutes, sometimes longer, sometimes less.
>>
>>76658671
When you count all your time inside the gym as exercise.
>>
Did a 1.5-2 minute rest between weighted pushup sets today and it feels pretty good ya'll, don't rest too long its a waste

A significant chunk of us are gonna make it
>>
I enter a 2 week comatose in between ultra-sets
>>
seriously though is there good reason not to rest overly long when you can? like, 15 minutes long? all i found when looking around was like "uh some studies found 5% slower gainz with certain types of exercises compared to 3 minutes rest", which, you know, idgaf since it's so much easier to do so much more with long rests. does it actually matter or are the 3-4 minutes everyone does just for time management and to not hog shit in the gym?
>>
>>76662776
You just don't get the same strength or size gains. You want to get to failure. Rest too long and your muscles and shit aren't being challenged as hard
>>
>>76662801
You absolutely can get to failure with long rests. It just takes some more work, though I don't know if that's good or bad.
>>
>>76660109
You should lift to improve your mile time and yes it should cut into your running regiment also, dont be an idiot.
>>
>>76662846
Youre trading strength or size gains for endurance gains
>>
>>76662869
I mean i have a good cardio base so i can lift more intensely and recover cns faster than i would otherwise. You cant say theres nothing good about being a better endurance or sprint athlete, but its way less complicated than lifting so nobody here gives a shit.
>>
>>76658671
I stopped doing that after I started doing cardio. After like 6 months of consistent cardio I was able to reduce my rest times significantly, to the point where I had 20 extra minutes at the end of my workout which I now just use for cardio. So now I get my lifting and cardio done in about 70 minutes total when I used to just get my lifts done in 60 minutes. Cardio is pretty based.
>>
>>76662900
Youll find the beneficial parts to having more robust health and recovery is in super high bpm work. Like i used to be at 160ish for 20min at a time, but i was lifting also at that time and i made basically 0 gains and i was trying albeit on some 2000s youtube shit where i have a better physique than the fake natties. They do cardio because fat turns into nipples.
>>
I rest as long as I want but generally 2 to 4 minutes
>>
>>76662898
Yeah this board is mostly ppl doing powerbuilding type stuff, not a lot of athletes
>>
>>76662941
Save the powerlifting for your home gym queer, nobody can be expected to ask to work in. Do that shit late at night when you arent disturbing the patrons, youre basically taking a fat shit right on their face and making them eat it. Then theyre gonna do the stupid unproductive shit in the gym because you scare them off it, look at you you could probably eat me i wanna do what youre doing. You should have a youtube channel youre big as hell.

>>76662949

Im always torn between gaining all the weight in fat and lifting unproductively. I find just dropsetting 1-4rm(early sets 3-5rm if cold i dont even go 100% my shits fucked) is great for myrofibular. But i also noticed way faster arm size with cables 3-5rm and 5 sets minimum and 1-2sets 5-8rm, i seem to have an easy time on anything but chest and delts because the tendons never recover and i wanna get huge asap.

>>
>>76658810
I like anime figurines and display stuff (I have that stuff myself), but what is the point of having multiple of the same item displayed?
>>
>>76658882
Nah the gains of doing nothing but lifting are actually way more than youd think. At least lift 2 sessions a day to lower fatigue and get more heavy sets/volume.
>>
>>76662974
I am kinda pretty huge stature wise, way over 6ft and 7ftish wingspan, and id trade at least a lot of it for pure strength. However im not so sure taller is necessarily weaker(higher shearing torque on tendons with longer levers regardless of ratios) since it took me a solid 2yrs and gains are still coming faster as im going so until i plateau for a year bulking i cant quite say id prefer to be shorter.

>>
>>76658689
My rest times definitely increased once I got a home gym, but I have things to do at home and save time from driving. In a gym I would rest for 3-4 minutes max.
>>
>>76662855
>don't be an idiot
I like that you've set an impossible challenge for yourself. Shows you've got heart.
>>
>>76665088
yep, once you get to advanced level on your lifts you basically should rest longer. Is most of /fit/ just newcomers or eternal dyels?
