Do yall ever listen to audiobooks while you lift or run? I got into audiobooks about a year ago and find the quality of the production (narration, music etc) is just as important to keep me locked in as the story, but some actually get me hyped for working out.>picrel is peak
>>76659086Yeah, I have been listening to Soul Hunter lately, I am enjoying it way more than I thought I would
Boomer here, horror/thriller audiobooks are kino
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S89BHnaxULoThe BBC radio play of Neuromancer is really good
>>76659086I never listen to anything while lifting because it distracts me too much, back when I was frequently doing cardio a couple of years ago I used to listen to podcast since longer 30 min+ cardio sessions are boring and it makes them more fun to do.
>>76659092I’ll check that out. I also really enjoyed the World War Z audiobook, especially Mark Hamill’s parts
>>76659086I can't play audio that wants my attention when I'm doing simething else. Mostly I play EDM with nonsense lyrics so I can get the sympathetic response to the high bpm. I can't "multitask" my attention, so audiobooks suck for me in general because I need to wear headphones and turn off the lights to really get the most out of them.
>>76659086military SF: Brigador. Also sold as DLC for the game with the same name. The Lost Fleet. Very long naval series.Tantor media have a ton of translated Russian portal fantasy, summarized as: isekai, but the male lead has a strong character and will actually the fuck the women, and the women are sweet and not tsunderes at best. Authors like Alex Toxic, Roman Savarovsky, Dmitry Sheleg, Alexey Kovtunov Oleg Sapphire. There's also plenty of novels that started on Royal Road and Wattpad that made it to pretty good audiobooks, but these are more of a mixed bag and the narrators are generally worse. Anime-adapted books in particular seem to get a random girl to lazily and stiltingly read them and bring the energy down.
>>76659092Insanely based. The voice actor did an amazing job
>>76659092I'm on Voidstalker now.Octavia sucks, and I honestly forget sometimes the Night Lords are Night Lords. In a good way. I'm rooting for them because they're the protagonists, get charmed by their brotherly interactions, then they start skinning people and I remember they're the bad guys. It's honestly pretty funny. It's probably how Septimus and Octavia feel, a kind of Stockholm Syndrome. Talos and Zharl are fucking badass. Makes me wish the 8th weren't who they became. I feel a little guilty every time they mack on Imperial Marines and I get hyped.
>>76659086Yeah, podcasts, books on tape, episodes of star trek I've ripped the audio off of and turned into mp3s. My memory for stuff I've listened to instead of read is much worse though.
>>76659213He really did!
>>76659086Novelization of the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.
>>76659086Good choice, the witcher books are all available on youtube and with brave browser you can listen to it in background on ios. youtube vanced for the android users out there. there is also the cost of glory series on plutarchs parallel lives if you are into ancient history and if that is your thing there is the fall of civilisations series too. for proper books on ancient history there is the SPQR series, a crime series in the late republic, though i dont know if its still on youtube. >>76659092read the whole series and i really enjoyed it, adb made some great stuff there, though of course helsreach is still his masterpiece>>76659123sounds interesting >>76659128i agree, only brainless mundane tasks allow me to enjoy audiobooks
>>76659086not while lifting, but while doing cardio (especially walking) and doing chores. Not just audiobooks, also podcasts, presentations and interviews.
>>76659092Bros how do I get into 40k pls recommend me a book to begin with
>>76661960Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity (1990) by Judith Butler
I only want to listen to audiobooks I can stream from youtube but are not an AI voice. Pretty hard to find them but I enjoy it if I do. Also internet archive is good for hosting some streams still.
>>76659086i listened to dubliners while running through the empty city streets and imagined the whole thing happening around me. peeeak
>>76661977I already read that one and it did not help, I'm sorry anonAnd before you ask I have also read the torah and it was basically the same book
>>76659086I've never been able to get into them. hearing other people narrate a story in their own way sort of spoils the story
>>76661960First and only (book series from the pov of a commander of basic army units in 40k then a special forcesunit later) eisenhorn xenos (more like a detective book about an inquisitor in 40k) infinite and the divine is absolutely fantastic ( two of the most powerful necrons verse each other but are also extremely petty about everything) from there honestly it all depends. 40k is so massive and there is so much one can go in to. In you want to learn more about the heresy I would just start with Horus rising.
>>76659086I listened to sst a while back, but by the time I got to it, I had been too hardcore a 90s kid about the movie for it to click. Definitely skillfully written.Read Ringworld anon.
>>76659086Mostly feminists literature if I zone out for 10 minutes it doesn't matter, if a female does something inexplicable it annoys me into pedaling faster, it is stuff I would not want to read with my eyes so I am slogging through it with on a recumbent bike.Last book was The Bell Jar and now on Pride and Prejudice.
No, just music. I just checked /fit/ hoping there was some sort of music thread because I need a rec for some earbuds that will actually stay in while exercising. I can fidget with the ones I have now while lifting/biking but I'm trying to get back into jumping rope and having to reset when an earbud falls out of place sucks.
I cant count reps and sets and pay attention to something worth listening to
>>76666170I use sony wf1000xm4s and the only time they accidentally come out is when i take my motorbike helmet off.
>>76666170I got these Sennheiser Sport True Wireless. they got flap things that you twist into your ear bits to make them stay in. So far haven't had any issues with them.
I sometimes listen to I'm glad my mom died
I actually really like the Stargate SG1 series and found out they had audiobooks. What was even better was the audiobooks were on youtube and the actual actors/actresses did the voices. They are really good.
