there's nothing wrong in investing some spare cash in your hobby, but I'm amazed some people get fuckhuge sets of actual casts dumbbells instead of two regulated ones and multiple barbells of similar length, as if they were running a commercial gym

It's often just mismatched junk they find for cheap on facebook or similar. Nobody who isn't some born rich influencer is getting entire sets of fixed polyurethane dumbbells or multiple Rogue/Eleiko barbells and plate sets. Of course there are some retards who just don't understand the concept of money over time and will buy a new pair of fixed dumbbells any time they want more weight, when by the end they would have saved money even with the most expensive adjustables like rep x peppins.

>tfw just almost just blacked out in my home gym
Gotta say it was pretty cool. Happened once before a couple years ago at the top of a power clean. I was locked in at that moment and felt it coming, I knew it would fuck me up so I tensed my entire body as hard as possible until it passed. This time I was just standing, but I was deep in thought about something so I was only half aware of it as it happened. I basically fell in slow motion by crumpling my legs into a squat then wobbled over from lack of balance. I got back up and did another set.

I need a cyclette or something similar for low-impact cardio at home (need to share it with my mom btw)
any particular recommendation that doesn't cost too much?

Eh, we really don’t. Most of us have a garage bay, about 200sqft. You can do a lot with that, but it’ll never be a full gym. Home gyms come with big compromises, usually. I love mine but still have a gym membership.

>and a bench with two 15kg plates and 9kg bar

How do I begin? Right now I'm just interested in increasing the size of my arms.
How many reps/sets do I do for each? Can I space the sets throughout the day? How often in a given week? Most info is about full body workouts and shit.
I'm a weakling and utter beginner, so I can only do 15-20 bench presses and 30-40 bicep curls with those weights before I go limp for a while
>>
>>76667443
Nicca, size goes up with the load, not volume. You must get more weight to gain size, it's that simple. Look up for shit on Craigslist usually people add stuff on afternoons or on Saturday morning. Buying used shit is pretty similar as weightlifting, you need to be consistent.

You need to read the sticky. Acquire or acquire access to a squat rack and weights (that and a bench shouldn't run you more than $1.5k new) and start off using just the bar for weight. If that's too light add more. Focus autistically on form over weight. Google "starting strength" and run it for at least a few months. Good luck and wagmi, now go read sticky.
>>
>>76665153
>>76665789
The primary limitations for home gyms are space and mindset. Getting basic, even shit-level equipment is not expensive, but few can do anything about the total space they have available. In America, you mostly have a small-ish garage space or low ceiling basement. The other I find is home gyms work for very few people long term because they have trouble staying motivated at home—they associate home with rest, not with training hard. Thus, so many home gyms end up being unused, see fb marketplace.

>>76667694

Rack and adjustable dumbbells have a pretty small footprint. I have fuck all for free space or spare rooms, so I crammed everything in half of a garage. Even with the goofy extra shit and starting from zero, sub two grand to get up to 500ish in plates, a rack, and dumbbells up to 90.

I can call myself a happy and lucky home gym owner, it ain't as fancy as some US bros can boast with, but it has enough iron for 2 people to train simultaneously, and I also have some cardio equipment that my wife uses.
As for legs I managed to get a abductor/adductor combo and a leg press with a huge stack. As for a leg extension equivalent I can use my shitty multigym that I've bought for 90$ on a polish equivalent of Craigslist. It's great for tricep extension, rear delt training and with my barbarian tuning (I've cut the handles and made a joint so the handles can be adjusted to how wide one wants to do the flys) it works surprisingly well as a pec deck, but it's totally garbage when it comes to leg extensions.

my humble home gym. located in my 3rd bedroom (UK, small houses no big garages here like you yanks have) i think i did the best i could with the space available.

the adjustable plate loaded pulley is really nice. my only gripe is that it doesnt work well for chest flys as they're too close, but can do them unilaterally ok.

the wooden structure in the forefront (right) is a homemade belt squat platform i made, it slots in the front of the cable machine and has a pulley at the bottom, where i can attach my dip belt too. really liking belt squats, much easier on my back.
