what the fuck is this shit, how do I know im doing it right theres like 45 steps and form checks to keep track of fuck me

why the fuck is this in my beginners starting strength program
>>

Im pretty sure hang cleans are the best for training vertical, then maybe some jump squats or ive been doing some uni leg press fast since you can do top of rom more and use the other leg in case you hyperextend. Almost got fucked one time doing jump squats in socks though and im pretty sure someone is bound to do these and their shoes fold in or they land stiff legged since they forget its so heavily weighted.

Dont let it tip you over backwards dipshit, you jump the weight up to your shoulders but youll find the hip thrust and shrug part is free lbs, so maybe try to jump a little and or take a lil sprinters stance.

ngl this kinda clean tho
>>

Just do snatch grip high pulls. Same "explosiveness" or whatever gains, more shoulder gains, 0 technique reqs, just explode up. Put rubber bands on a power rack or whatever as a target to touch with the barbell if you're worried about height.

>>76663723
Cleans are bad because of useless catch part, do weighted jumps onto a low box so you land with straight legs, impact is minimal since the travel from top of jump to top of the box is minimal.

> starting strength having noobs do cleans

Since the coach who wrote it wanted the people to feel like they're doing something impossible so they would pay for at least 6 months of coaching services.

Just do upright rows and cheat curls if a newbie, better gains for what matters anyways.
>>
>>76663717
Did you watch the SS videos?

All you really have to do to power clean is jump, and the rest takes care of itself. You can hold on to the bar too. I don't do that fingertip shit

>Just do upright rows and cheat curls if a newbie
Just do back and arm lifts instead of a glute quad lift.
>>
>>76663753
ngl didn't see that plot twist coming
>>
try to pull up your tshirt with the bar while jumping under it
walla

even middle schoolers and obese landwhale powershitters/football players can learn how to do a power clean, nothing advanced about it

>they show him posing in front of a 1000kg plate
>cut to him doing a normie weight after that
dishonest filming techniques

absolutely goated lift

Literally no one does this shit and if I see you doing it I will report you to the gym staff and you will get kicked out.
>>
>>76663717
Don’t bother unless you’re planning on Olympic lifting or are an athlete

Ngl, that was a good save.

You film yourself from the side. You probably dont have the mobility for the complete movement anyways.
Idk what's rippetits thinking, i've never read or seen what SS actually looks like in full besides the 40 squats sets a week, but if you actually want to develop that movement you should ditch like half your isolation bodybuilding movements and stick to compounds and 4-5 accesories that you repeat almost every day.
>>
>>76666355
Power cleans really don't need much mobility. Even front squats require more concerning good front rack discipline.
>>
>>76663717
Theres no reason to do these. You can just forget it.
>>
>>76663717
The power clean is a great introduction to power movements. It's good for athleticism and engaging the kinetic chain, and good for your nervous system. You can use this to get better at sprinting, jumping and driving (think sumo)

This is practical approach to real world strength being built and a foundation for weightlifting
>>
>>76666410
I half assumed OP wants to learn the full movement, but it still needs mobility regardless, most people never learn it because they pull it like a romanian deadlift since they cant squat and jump up like that due to 1 coordination and 2 inexistent ankle mobility

rofl jk i'm in my chair

>Theres no reason to do these. You can just forget it.
Power clean and press is about half your muscles, plus it trains speed as well as strength. "Need" no, but it's pretty good.
>>
>>76666476
If he's interested in any strength based sport then he would need to do this one. Every football player or wrestler does these. Bodybuilding is gay, there's no point to being strong without actually using your muscle somehow. It's almost a waste.
>>
>>76665728
You won't do shit, and all the gym staff like me and think it's cool.
