When did deer antler pull up bars get popular? They are literally more expensive than a normal straight bar and are absolute shit
>>
>>76665168
ive never seen this desu. Looks like shit tho. Do wish more places had genuine pull up bars, most of the time they're just the boomerangs on the cable stacks which suck ass
>>
>>76665168
just grab the straight part of the bar? am i missing something?
>>
>>76665168
Yeah they suck ass, and the silicone covering for them is awful too. A straight metal bar with light knurling mogs the fuck out of them, but hammer strength and many other commercial gym suppliers like to be DIFFERENT.

This. I like the little "ladder" style ones, too, for neutral or hammer grip chins. But straight bars are better. Needs sharp knurling, too. Not squish pads.
>>
>>76665168
Yeah they suck, some shill campaign is probably responsible kinda like the once dominant belief that "smith machines are safer than a squat rack."
>>
>>76665227
No he’s being retarded on purpose, I think so anyway.
>>
>>76665168
I hate these for 2 reasons.

1. I can do more pull ups than I can on a straight bar , like easily 2 or 3 more in a set. This just doesn't sit right with me for some reason.

2. The rubber sheath handle comes loose and starts spinning when you try to grab on and then you cant hardly do any pull ups on them.

I like the idea of having neutral grip options but in practice I never use them and just go to the straight bar.
>>
>>76665168
Wait isn't there something to the fact that you can work different muscle groups depending on the grip style?
>>
>>76665168
Doesn't this limit ROM? Looks like you would poke your eyes out every time you try to elevate past the bar.
>>
>>76665168
Neutral grip is my favorite grip, can do more weight with zero physical discomfort. and straight bar doesn’t allow me to do it. No, commando pullups are not the same
>>
>>76665168
hate these fuckers so much it's unreal
>>
because there are 50 million retards who refuse to work on basic mobility and instead want weird angles for "work outs"
>>
>>76666483
Virtually no difference.

>The rubber sheath handle comes loose and starts spinning when you try to grab on and then you cant hardly do any pull ups on them

This is, by far, one of the most irritating things I've ever encountered
>>
>>76665168
probably to discourage gymnastic calisthenic spinnas from busting they spine at any given gym, which is dumb and sucks
>>
>>76665168
The chin up one is nicer on the joints. My gym doesn’t have any for some gay reason
>>
>>76665642
>>76665227
If you mean the silver part then that's too thick, it's a part of the entire construction not meant to be grabbed so it's got a weird shape and usually is thick enough that you can't even fully hold it with your hand
