These two meals fed the greatest empire in the history of the world and you think you need something different to lift some polished stones off the floor?
>>
I don't think Spaniards eat beans for breakfast, though.

I get what you're getting at but I'm going to be pedantic about "polished stones:" "stone" is typically synonymous with "rock" in that it's used to identify raw minerals or aggregated collections of minerals - weights at the gym are very clearly metals, identified for their malleability and ductility, primarily due to their electronic configurations. Typically a metal weight will be cast oversized and ground down to an exact weight. Rocks/Stones are much much more brittle, which is why metal is typically used (fun aside: sometimes even metal is too brittle, which is where rubber bumper plates come from).

Well Spain didn't have the greatest empire, did it?

Imagine coming in from the fields all covered in muck. It's raining, overcast, and still the border collies run circles around you as you usher them into the barn for the night. There can be no more work until sunrise.

The amber glow of incandescent light beckons you home. Kicking your wellies off at the door and washing your great, work-worn hands in the sink, you sit down with your five children and wife as she whisks up behind you, kisses you on the neck and drops this heaped, steaming plate of food by your chest.

You look upon the perfectly prepared portion of cow in front of you. You know it's good, because it was one of your own.

The hate for British food will never not be hilarious to me.
It's literally perfect.
Everyone gushing over "muh spices" doesn't realise that Asia has to use spices to cover up the unbelievably low quality meat they have.
If you get some actual proper meat and cook it right, make the gravy from the animal fat, there is no better food on earth.

They took this from us.

You pair it with a sunday roast old chap. Swash it in some gravy, lance it with some beef and stick it in your gob.

I do not need more, sir.
I can easily live off of chicken, egg, potato, dairy products, and spices
If you want to be real fancy add a bit of lamb into the mix and some onions and tomato and I'll be happy forever

But really, chicken, eggs, potato, dairy, and spices, is all you need
