We have exactly 3 lifters in medal contention. There's no level of rigging that can get anymore medals than that. 2 of which are women which doesn't really count. Hampton might actually get it done though which would be incredible.

you know, you could just say weightlifting

How do you move up a weight class? As in, at what pace do you get your kgs in. Am 180cm/81kg, shooting for 88kg in about 1-2 years, trying not to get fat along the way (bodyfat% is about 18% according to navy method, would try to not go above 20%). Just gain weight linearly, or cut at some point?
>>
>>76672564
At 180cm you should be like 94-110
You will need to do a lot of volume on strength work with a good diet to fill out well
>>
>>76672639
>At 180cm you should be like 94-110
I know, my coach just told me to shoot for 88 for this year. I allready do a lot of strength volume. I was asking about dieting, in terms of how much above maintenance and how long to eat at a surplus since i never did it.

/plg/ is dead so I am going to /plg/ post here.
Rotated to highbar, hit mere 190kg (atg? idk), but way comfier than lowbar and it's nice to fail at the lockout vs at the bottom. Did ghr, reverse hyper, core.

Next lower is dynamic day lower + quads, gonna do highbar low box squat with bands and snatch grip high pulls + quads.

Strength is overwhelmingly neurological and is only really related to muscle mass on the individual level. One person can have twice the lbm of another and be substantially weaker but both will get stronger by gaining it.
>>
>I usually do some chinups at the end of a workout, already warmed up

>>
I'm having trouble adding both Snatch and Cleans into my program. How do you guys space them out? They seem to have too much overlap to do them on the same day.
>>
>>76678674
that photo's shopped. Giulia's legs aren't that big
>>
>>76678722
I see. I checked her out and she still has some pretty beeg legs for her body fat percentage. And she maxed out at only 85KG with "perfect" form. So I disagree with the take that muscle mass is a meme. I don't care how much you neuromax, muscle mass will always be a real factor and why we have weight classes.
>>
Yes, strength is neurological, and yes, in a single individual, given a certain neurological adaptation, it then becomes a function of the cross-section of a muscle. It's usually put like this because those are the factors that can be manipulated though training and nutrition.
But when confronting individuals, predetermination and genetics definitely play a role, and more factors get into play. Which means we're not only talking about a different predisposition to neurological adaptation and general hypertrophy, but also things like different ratios of the muscle fibers and their arrangement and attachment points.
>>
TOMORROW WE FRONT SQUAT
>>
>>76678680
>How do you guys space them out?
Some days I do snatches and then clean and jerks. Other days, I only do snatches but not clean and jerks. Occasionally, I do clean and jerks but not snatches.
>>
>>76678743
Nobody said it was a meme, the point is that while adding muscle mass will make you stronger, pound for pound it is not the same between people
Furthermore if you don't have good genetics for strength it doesn't matter how much muscle mass you put on, you will never c&j world class weights
>>
>>76679643
I'm not even sure if we know what good genetics would look like for olympic lifting. I don't think enough people in the world are truly serious about it to find the true genetic outliers.
>>
>>76679692
It has been an olympic sport for like a century dude we have a very, very good idea of what good genetics for weightlifting look like
>>
>>76679742
being an olympic sport doesn't mean its popular enough to be able to find true genetic outliers. A lot of olympic shit is a niche community smaller than you think. Olympic lifting is only seriously done on any kind of scale by the Chinese who are the least genetically diverse race on the planet.
>>
>>76677653
>Question, how do these women lift these arguably heavy weight while looking that small
>how does that even work
It's not that much weight if the technique is right. No one ever posts the 85kg women because they're like school buses.
>>
>>76679692
>I'm not even sure if we know what good genetics would look like for olympic lifting.
Short femurs compared to average for your height is mandatory. Every oly lift involves squatting. (That's why it's a shit sport imo.)

>American can't wrap his head around the fact that countries besides the US and China exist.

Well isnt it all momentum or is it enough to just jump under the weight and you need torque to move it? Its not hard to squat 495 so id assume a speed build is better so it moves further.
>>
>>76679921
>Well isnt it all momentum or is it enough to just jump under the weight and you need torque to move it?
Jerking is jumping under the weight and that's part of it. They have to throw it up first and that's 95% ass and thighs.
>Its not hard to squat 495
ok
>>
>>76679921
>Its not hard to squat 495
Okay, post 495lb clean.
>>
>>76679936
>>76679931
I mean i can easily jump with 2pl8s squat and i havent trained it in a year more than 1x/mo. Could probably easily do 4pl8s, dl has been 405x3+ for over a year. Im trying to get my arms almost as big as my legs, i can clean 185 rn but i dont jump under it or bounce off thighs, i just try and jump the weight for vertical(30in or so).
>>
>>76679951
Went from
>5pl8 squat is not that hard
to
>4pl8 squat is probably easy
to
>I can deadlift 4pl8
followed by excuses and then
>I can clean 1.5pl8
followed by more excuses.
Don't post ITT again.
>>
>>76679771
The soviets did extensive sport science research in weightlifting (among other sports)
Also, the idea that weightlifting is somehow unique and not one of many power sports is also retarded. We have a very good idea what makes a good weightlifter genetically because we have a good idea what makes a good power sports athlete
You genuinely do not seem to understand much about weightlifting or sports in general if you think this is some kind of mystery
>>
>>76680010
not gonna happen bro
>>
i've been practicing the oly lifts basically the whole year and can only clean 2 plates and snatch 1 plate (shoulder injury affects that one though) despite being able to squat 4plates. and it's been stuck this way for a while is that normal

What you said is true and I agree, and it doesn't happen with men. We truly are subconsciously sexists, aren't we?
>>
>>76680066
Yeah that's bad. I only squat 2pl8 and clean 80kg and snatch 60kg. Your technique must be pretty shoddy. Is there anything you can think of going wrong during your lifts? Are you able to catch them below parallel?
>>76680198
We'll have an asian qt edition next time, seems like female lifters in the OP are the secret sauce to getting people to post here.

>>
>>76680066
Your technique is bad but your mobility is probably worse
180kg back squat is enough for 110/140 if you have decent technique, being all the way down at 60/100 tells me you are probably just not capable of proper positions

TOMORROW WE SNATCH

>>
>>76682804
weightlifting could have been a better sport if we ended up with snatch and the press
>>
Hi I'm new. How do I stop the bar from crashing on my collarbone with heavier weights? I can power clean 115 no problem prolly 10 times in a row, then j get to 145 and maybe once... Anything after that and I usually have the bar crash on my lower neck and end up in pain for an hour and stop doing power cleans.

I can front squat 225 and ohp 150 so I think it's a technique issue.
>>
>>76683158
Without video there's nothing we can really do. You might be swinging it out a bit or just not keeping the bar close enough. In general, the closer it is and the more vertical it is the better. You'll never hit perfect but try to keep it as close as you can. Are you power cleaning or full cleaning it?
>>
>>76683180
>I can power clean
>end up in pain for an hour and stop doing power cleans.
Gee, I dunno.
>>
>>76683183
Kek, sorry Im gooning in another tab half the time. But as for your problem, the first bit of advice I'll give is to cut down the reps. There's zero point to ever doing any more than 3 reps in a set of cleans. I don't even think it's worth while to do more than 1. Secondly, this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B3GAgdujIzg&t=47s might help but bar crash can be caused by a bunch of things. Can't do much without being there and seeing it in person. Ideally find a coach, otherwise record yourself and try to see whats going wrong and read up on the why and how to fix it.
>>
>>76683197
Thanks for the vid. Sadly I am a brokie and can't afford a coach or even a more serious gym. All the gyms around me catered towards Oly lifts seem to be $200 a month
>>
>>76683210
Yeah, that's ass. I got lucky as fuck and mine is 40$. People wonder why the sport is dead in the US when gyms are charging out the ass to lift shit. Best suggestion is to pirate some books on it and possibly get some distance coaching eventually.

Protip: circuit everything with abs and low back, those muscles recover very fast and you not only get stronger abs/low back, you also get more test/gh release if instead of resting between sets you hit those.

Shoulders too but that's a bit more tricky to integrate.
