Get a test to see how much radon is actually there. You can get a device which will measure it for you for around $150ish usd. If you own the place hire folks to seal the foundation and install a radon mitigation system. If you can't do that try to maximize circulation where you live, radon is heavy and accumulates over time, so this can help reduce exposure. Try not to avoid lifting/exercising in an environment with more radon since you're breathing more heavily there. That's basically all you can do.

It's a heavy radioactive noble gas released by the decay of heavy elements in the Earth's crust. Some places in the world have geology which is such that more radon comes up from the ground and it can accumulate in low places with little air circulation, such as basements, and it's more of a problem there. It isn't radiation itself but it decays and releases radiation when it does, and since you can breathe it in when this happens it can smash your DNA in the process and increase your chances of getting cancer. So if you have a house with a basement it's worth knowing whether or not you live in a place where it can be a problem, and whether or not it's a problem for your house to see if you should do something to reduce your exposure to it.
