Yo /fit/, I've been really want to turn my life around. Always been kinda big but currently I'm fucking huge, 24yrs old, 6'1, 400lbs. Don't necessarily want to get ripped with muscles or anything, just want to lose weight but I know im jumping miles ahead right now.

I work 40hrs a week, on my feet for about 6~ hours a day, average about 9-10k steps on the days I work.

Been to the doctor and surprisingly all my results came back good, have a very very slight higher cholesterol than what the doc would like but otherwise he said I'm actually good for my shape.

I want to start working out and slowly get my body use to the gym and talking walks after my work shift. Thing is I feel like my feet, knees and lower back are fucked. Fucked in the sense that I feel like I have a 50 year old mans body when im fucking 24. Did xrays & again was all clear nothing out of place or bad, just recommended that I lose weight.

I've already started cutting out fast food, about once a week I'll go to innout & that's it. If I drink soda I'm grabbing the zero versions of drinks. Basically eating 2 sandwiches for lunch, water bottle & those peanut butter cracker snacks.

Would /fit/ recommend going to go see a chiropractor or other professional to see if it'd be okay if I can workout? Only thing I'm actually worried about is if I just slightly do an exercise wrong & fuck myself for life. What would you recommend, anyone else been in my spot or similar, thanks & sorry for the long ass fucking rant

losing weight with just willpower is difficult so think about the best thing to do to feel good 2 minutes from now, 2 days from now, 2 months, 2 years etc. and not try to hit max weight for low reps like a lifter for now. i'd suggest you do stretching/yoga either at home following a video or in a group and figure out how to stretch out the low back and pelvic muscles, all parts of you that are stiff from disuse or constantly contracted to keep you upright, like learn to touch your toes, hang from a bar, twist your hips, extend your back and so on. i really like swimming, water walks, rowers and stationary bikes for people trying to get their feet wet with exercise

No you don't need to see a chiropractor. They have nothing to do with deeming you fit for exercise. Find a workout routine based on your interests: getting bigger, stronger, calisthenics, rooning, etc.

Pick a program, and start.

eating: start tracking what you eat on an app
>How much and what food do I eat
For a beginner i recommend "If it fits your macros"

That should be enough to get you started if you're actually motivated to make it

Start by cutting, which won't be fun. Then do some weight work, which once you start progressing, will be fun.

Do NOT, under any circumstances, go to a chiropractor. Pack of quacks. Don't run until you've lost at least 100lbs, it'll fuck your joints even more at your weight. Godspeed
