It doesn't, but sourdough tends to be a bit more dense and so have more weight per slice than 'regular' bread, which is why it is sometimes referred to as having more calories 'per bread' or 'per slice. This is exactly why I recommended the guy to actually take a slice and put it on a scale, but he is too retarded to understand it.

The only bread that actually has significantly more calories than other bread is bread where fat is added, like focaccia. But aside from these fatty Italian niche breads, you can pretty much just take any bread and put it on a scale and calculate how much kcal it has.
