I read the article regarding drink that is pinned i did not find a good suggestion to replace soda.So hence I would like some suggestions?I mainly drink soda for the taste I primarily drink cherry coke with zero sugar, mirinda strawberry, cappy Apple juice(very high sugar),cappy strawberry juice(again high in sugar) and 7up with zero sugar.Any recommendations on with what to swap them with?I tried coconut milk(but it's too expensive and doesn't do it for me), tea(I mainly like to drink cold stuff so this definitely didn't work) fresh squeezed juice(whether i buy it or make it myself it's too expensive)and yes i have stopped drinking soda for more than a year in the past but the thing is I want something for taste and no i don't drink alcohol teetotaler hereany suggestions please?
>>76682492>Any recommendations on with what to swap them with?water>I tried coconut milk(but it's too expensiveit is the same price as pop>tea(I mainly like to drink cold stuff so this definitely didn't work) You can cold-brew tea though?>fresh squeezed juice(whether i buy it or make it myself it's too expensive)it is the same price as pop>I want something for tasteit's nice to want things, huh?>any suggestions please?water
>>76682502well maybe where you live friend but I live in eastern europeand coconut milk costs more than 2L of coke and it's not even 2liters of coconut milk it's 1 liter.Same thing for fresh juice from the store I don't mind buying the fruit to make it but it's like 1 euro difference whether I make it myself or buy it from the store. And how do I brew ice cold tea?(I legit don't know)And yeah it is nice to want things but then again it is nice to try to improve on your self you know hence the post. And I guess if there aren't any recommendations then how do you guys go on with only water?
>>76682492I meal prep a big batch of iced tea and I fill a dozen 24oz bottles so I always have it handy in the fridge. I sweeten it with stevia and I also add some instant coffee and molasses for color, it legit looks and kinda tastes like diet coke, and it adds up to like $0.20 per bottle
>>76682492Maybe try carbonated water, it gives you a similiar fizz. You can brew most teas with cold water. Just dunk the bag into cold water and leave it in there for a bit longer, around 7-9 minutes. Then either drink at room temperature or put into the fridge until it is cold. Or you can prepare it regularly and then wait until the water is room temperature before putting it into the fridge. Here most supermarkets sell special cold brew tea mixes, but those are just rebranded black tea mixes.
>>76682492I've been drinking sparkling water during the week, one or two cans of coke in the weekend, tops.
>>76682540isn't carbonated water bad in general?and I'll admit I do like to drink lemon flavored carbonated water but I don't think it's a healthy alternative(I know it's healthier but still)>You can brew most teas with cold water. >>76682551btw you don't have to cold brew iced tea. you can just boil a big pot of it and chill it after
>>76682551>carbonated water bad in general? As long as there's no added sugar it's literally the same as water.
>>76682583even the lemon flavored carbonated water? no sugar in it as well though
>>76682551> really ice tea is that I thought it needed a special processIndustry made ice tea is literally made by preparing black tea and adding sugar and lemon. Most of the time they use tea extract, but that is just tea from which water was evaporated to save in transport costs.>or machine for it since you know it's... cold. Not sure where you live, but you do know that fridges are a thing?>isn't carbonated water bad in general? Why would it? The only difference to plain water is a slightly higher pH. Even with that it is not that acidic, less than your own skin, and the carbonic acid is quickly neutralized by carboanhydrase in your mouth and stomach anyway. Other than that it is just water.
>>76682512>how do I brew ice cold tea?You absolutely retarded gorilla nigger. You brew it, then you chill it. Got all that? I know it was complicated with all those (more than one!) steps...
>>76682492Flavored water, gatorade.
>>76682602gee i already got it from the first 3 posts made....I always thought it was something special and stuff since teas are usually made hot/boiling>>76682596yes yes yes can we move past how ice teas are made now i already got it after the first posts thanks though.>Why would it? The only difference to plain water is a slightly higher pH. Even with that it is not that acidic, less than your own skin, and the carbonic acid is quickly neutralized by carboanhydrase in your mouth and stomach anyway. Other than that it is just water.because I thought CO2 is bad,we also exhale it and soda is bad in general that's why i thought the way i did
>>76682602The name "cold brewing" makes it sound like it should be a different process, not just "brew tea normally then put it in a fridge"
>>76682492Why? Zero sugar is fine
>>76682512>And how do I brew ice cold tea?(I legit don't know)>put tea in water>leave it in the fridge
>>76682512>And I guess if there aren't any recommendations then how do you guys go on with only water?Water feels good to drink and has a taste particular to it's method of collection and preparation. A sparkling water is good too.
>>76682618>gee i already got it from the first 3 posts made....You said some dumb shit, now you're gonna take your lumps. >because I thought CO2 is bad,we also exhale it and soda is bad in general that's why i thought the way i didYeah I always thought the carbolic acid was mega bad for you too, but the real killer in soda is the sugar. Anyway, to answer your original question, just drink water. Fuck flavor, that's what food is for. Simply don't purchase carbonated beverages at the store/restaurants and when you're thirsty drink water
>>76682645By that I meant is there a mentality for it since I have I have gone without drinking soda and sugary drinks for a year once but still couldn't get used to only drinking water. Since obviously i have managed to stopped drinking that stuff but mentally I was still craving it. hence my question
>>76682492You're welcome
They had a stall giving this away at an acid bath concert and I really enjoyed it. Been drinking it since. It's like a less bitter diet dr pepper.
>>76682551>really ice tea is that I thought it needed a special process or machine for it since you know it's... cold.tea is just a solvent extraction, your solvent is water, and you're extracting water soluble compounds from tea leaves. Things still dissolve in cold water, just slightly fewer things and more slowly. There's so little in it that lower temperature won't impact yield meaningfully, but the rate will still be slower.
>>76682655>By that I meant is there a mentality for itYes there is, you can also drink things like tea and juice; variety makes everything taste better. You should be drinking 75% water, 20% tea, 5% juice.
>>76682551>isn't carbonated water bad in general? This is straight up orthorexia. People can enjoy a donut or UPFs in moderation and lead a healthy life. Carbonated water is nothing.
>>76682502they hated first post for being best post
Sweet drinks are invariably gonna contain either sugar or sweeteners. You need to GIVE THEM UP, not REPLACE them.
>>76682512Where I live you can buy cold tea for 1/5 of the price of soda.
>>76682551Carbonated water is water and carbon dioxide. It's fine.
Drink fibrous juices, like orange juice with the pulp or apple cider. If you're going for low sugar, try coconut water. But if you ask me, I like to get lots of sugar in my diet.
>>76682492I bought a 12-pack of seltzer water for $2.I also bought a 2L of soda for $1.
>>76682492plenty of options nowadays that are tastier than conventional sodas:1. slice 2. olipop3. poppi4. spindrift (also make fruit carbonated h2o)5. culture pop / popwellall these are 100% natty, contain prebiotic at least (some with pre, pro, and post biotic altogether). i go through 3-4 cans a day and it still feels like a fairy tale bliss.
>>76682662In what world is Dr Pepper bitter? That stuff tastes like pure caramel
>>76682492>So hence I would like some suggestions?Have you tried kombucha? The store-bought stuff is pricey, but if you like it you can make your own and it's not as overwhelming as it might sound.>>76682512>I live in eastern europeIs kvass a thing in your area? Do you like that stuff?>how do you guys go on with only water? Most of my non-water drinks are hot: tea, herbal tea, coffee. Preferring cold drinks (while excluding alcohol) definitely reduces your options.>>76682863This is a tough pill to swallow but it's true. If you can somehow realign your palate to be okay with bitter drinks, or just with less "exciting" ones than you're used to, your health will thank you and ultimately you'll feel a lot better.>>76684232OP could try something like Dr. Gundry's alt-soda drinks (e.g. San Pellegrino with balsamic vinegar)- not to everyone's taste but it's an option. His wallet might not appreciate it though.
>>76682492water
>>76684232OP hereYeah I don't think those are available where I live I haven't heard of them(eastern european in case you missed it)Will look at the american store near me.>>76684684kvass sadly no it ain't a thing where I live I have seen it sold but It's not that popular in my country. Will give it a try>OP could try something like Dr. Gundry's alt-soda drinks (e.g. San Pellegrino with balsamic vinegar)- not to everyone's taste but it's an option. His wallet might not appreciate it though.Ouch that sounds expensive just by reading it.I did ask if lemon flavored carbonated water is healthy. I got plenty of answers regarding carbonated water being okay but nothing about it being flavored hence me asking if the lemon flavored part is bad or not.>Have you tried kombucha?will look into itthanks for the detailed post friend
>>76682672He asked a question, stop being so dogmatic and immediately jumping to conclusions and start insulting people.
>>76682492>>76682502If water lacks the bubbly, get sparkling water and make sure it has no added sodium or some shit
>>76683513This is the way. I'll drink a 12 ounce soda mixed with a liter of seltzer water. After a couple weeks you don't notice how much less sweet it is and you're saving a lot of calories.
>>76684898Do you think lemon is bad for you or something? I put lime juice in mine and it's briddy gud.
>>76685233well it is flavored you know, and generally I assume that most chemicals and substances are bad.if anything I do like the lemon flavored carbonated water and if it does no harm I'll go along with only it.
