All the runners, even just starting at the 800m distance, look like skinny skeletons with zero muscle. So I was wondering, if you go running like 3x a week, doing a mix of all types of runs, long, easy, tempo, interval etc. and then also went to the gym 2x a week or go climbing, can you actually achieve a good physique? Or will you ultimately end up looking like a gay bottom?

You can incorporate running into your training program with no problem, as long as you include the calories you burn in your diet. I'd do a combination of anaerobic training (sprints, hiit, tabata) with some longer range, lower paced, endurance training. Having good cardio will help your lifting, and compliments any strength program.

1. Running builds up cortisol, which is catabolic and antagonistic to muscle growth. You can combat this by being on sports TRT+, so 200mg of test perma cruise

2. Bodyweight is severely punishing in events longer than the 400m. You will never be a good 800m runner at 205 lb compared to 165 lb. You need more oxygen to oxygenate all that useless muscle you carry.

You can be a hobby runner and run 30 mpw and have okay times, but there is a tradeoff between muscle and running ability.

What is a runner? Ask yourself that. Go watch some races and see the body types of people who run. If you're trying to win local events yeah you're probably going to look like a dyel... If you're just running as a hobbyist and for fun/ cardio you can look like w.e tf you want for the most part.

Plenty of guys with good physiques are runners, they just aren't first place or setting records...which is probably not your goal anyways.
