Doing cardio after lifting helps build muscle, if you are using the same muscle for both. E.g., if you run after leg day, or go for a swim after a shoulder or back day. Works on the same principle as drop sets and pre-exhaustion. I believe this because of the effect it has had on my quads and glutes.

And benching two plates doesn't mean you're not gonna struggle helping your friends move. Sure, you're gonna struggle a bit less than your nonlifting friends, but couches and fridges will still be heavy and give you a run for your money.In the real world and for everyday activities, cardio is much more important and better for long tetm health than being able to squat four plates for reps.
