Decided to start my journey out of being a fat fuck, so I'm doing C25K and Starting Strength.
Tonight was my first SS session, do I decided to test my starting weights.
I got to 10kg/22lbs on each side of the bar (I believe it's a 20kg, not sure since there were no markings), and did 3x5 with that.
How good/bad is it for a gym newfag?
>>
Who cares. Just keep at it and make continual improvements, anon. I'm proud of you for starting, you are at a good place to start with. Keep it up.
>>

There are various websites that could give you an idea and goals. I've used this before, seems pretty reasonable to compare.

40kg is what most people start with because it feels too embarrassing to use anything less than that, and the movement is so unfamiliar that using a heavier weight can feel intimidating, even if you're capable of lifting it (which you probably are). The usual way this goes is that you'll be able to add weight easily each session until you start hitting around your bodyweight, then it starts to feel more difficult to increase the weight each time.

I have a home gym and its hard to set up a bench press due to me not having a bench. Now dumbbell chest presses are way easier to do on the floor, and those bad for you? I am afraid of imbalances.
>>
It isn’t good or bad, or anything else on that spectrum. You completed the exercise. How did it feel? Could you feel the target muscles worked? Did the movement feel natural and controlled?

The quality, intensity and form of the lift is more crucial than the weight. Continue to work and you’ll see improvements

Just be consistent and eat right

Pretty good, but my elbow now feels a bit tight. Guess that proves the importance of warming up or smth.

that's pretty normal, good job, now add 2.5kg and do it again next time
keep going
>>
>>76701130
When I started lifting I only could bench 30kg for 5 reps and I had to use one of of those small bars for OHP because I couldn´t even lift a 20kg barbell, now I can bench 120kg for reps and OHP 102,5kg as a 1RM
Just keep going, simply try to do better that last time, you will probaly be lifting 60kg for reps by next months given your bodyweight
>>
it's over for you anon
>>

Bit weak for your size big guy. It's likely that your technique is out of whack.

If you're fat, I think you can get a 225 lb bench press in 2 months
>>
