Recovery takes longer if you dont eat as much sure you wont grow as much being 100% torqued every other day but you also built up a base of tendon strength and hard muscle which makes hyperteophy way easier, technique is better. I can kinda feel when i need to recover for an extra day or 2 but im focusing delts/arms rught now and they can be hammered hard every 2-4 days even if you did the most ridiculous 1hr session just on delts bis tris.

Also, overdoing heavy sets for say a month stimulates gh a lot so you also gained a lot of barely noticeable size since the muscle itself has to be stretched over a larger area. Has always been. But you'd better give up trying to convince people otherwise because they don't listen. Driven by fear and a misguided obsession, they repeat mediocre treadmill sets with no results, no rest, and ultimately resort to using gear to achieve their fantastical progress. Picrel is DY routine for his competition with all kinds of gears, you need actually far less than this as he already said. 3 times a week with 4 workouts per day for natty, 1 or 2 warm-up sets and one working all out set per workout, works perfectly well for me.

i got stretch marks all over my shoulders, biceps and obliques on a random thursday night gymcelling session from the pump when i was 15, i was nowhere close to fat (neither was i lean, just an average kid). Later at 23 i bulked to Obese Class I at a BMI of 31.1 (110kg at 188cm) before joining the military thinking that more weight = more strength, to the point where two sergeants commented on my weight, I didn’t get a single stretch mark from my weight gain and after losing the weight and having a BMI of ~21 currently (somewhere between 74kg to 76kg i havent checked recently but i am fairly lean) my skin is completely tight i dont have loose skin anywhere

The two most important things to growing new mass is mechanical tension and close proximity to failure.

Lifting less often allows people to lift more intensely. Lifting more intensely allows them to progress in weight. Which means growth. Adding sets should only occur when weight cannot be progressed.

You don't need to do low rep maxes to progress in weight. People take that shit too far in the extreme. In the ballpark of 8-12 reps is really because it's also the range connective tissue tends to fortify the most in. It's why all the "classic" double progressions usually stress staying in that range and only adding it when you get outside of it. I think that's a bit too timid and usually relies on more sets than you need. But you can do pretty much the same thing with single art training. 7 reps keep the weight where it is 8 reps add 1-2.5lbs, 10 reps add 5. Minimal warmup required unless you're pushing really advanced numbers.

If you start with low rep stuff you have a lot less leeway in terms of safety, control, less ability to scale down and have to probably do more warmups take more rest. You really want to avoid taking weight off the bar. Even going to a lesser extent of failure at the same weight while not ideal is better than taking weight off the bar. You're just kind of working yourself into a corner where strength loss is eventually going to happen and consequently a deadending in progress (temporarily). There's no reason to do that except for competition lifting where peaking is needed and regression is expected and planed for.
