You can do anything that keeps your heart rate elevated at the training rate you need. I do a variety of burpees, hindu and jumping hindu squats for 20 mins for my cardio before I focus on strength training. Much more intense then just running.

Show me you're never gonna make it without admitting you're never gonna make it. And yes, PROPER swings are good enough cardio. Try the 10.000 swing kettlebell challenge. Although cardio is overrated imo, live a phisically active life in general, and don't worry about your "cardio".
