>Advice for new runners:- Build up speed and mileage SLOOOOOWLY (start with 15 minutes, increase mileage at most 10% per week);- It will feel like you're going slow, you are; don't worry about setting good times for a couple of months;- If you start to feel pain anywhere, stop and rest;- Don't try to copy what pros are doing. Do what feels natural; and- Once you can comfortably roon 6 miles/10km, start thinking about a goal in terms of race distance and time, and look for a training plan for that goal (see below for suggested plans).>Couch to 5k/Bridge to 10k Guideshttps://www.nhs.uk/live-well/exercise/running-and-aerobic-exercises/get-running-with-couch-to-5k/https://i.imgur.com/ef98R.pnghttps://i.imgur.com/qNJIy.png>I want to run a fast 5k, 10k, half-marathon, or marathonhttps://www.runningfastr.com/https://www.halhigdon.com/cock and ball torturehttps://sites.google.com/view/sub-threshold/home>I want to stretchhttps://www.runnersworld.com/uk/training/beginners/a32172701/how-to-stretch-post-run/>Performance calculatorshttps://runbundle.com/tools/age-grading-calculatorhttps://vdoto2.com/calculator/https://runrepeat.com/how-do-you-masure-up-the-runners-percentile-calculatorhttps://lactrace.com/norwegian-singlesprevious:>>76686590

Eh, not over the ear earbuds.

I don't really want to since I'm on such a low dose and I don't want to gain any tolerance. >>76705129Add a little distance to your long run each week. When I was training up for a HM, I didn't have a lot of time, so each long run I did was 1 mi longer than the previous (and I was running 5 other days of the week). I got to 12 mi just in time to taper before the race.So basically: decide what you can comfortably do right now, figure out your target date, and then come up with a plan to ramp up over time to hit your goal on the target date. If you have a goal time in mind, then you need to worry about pacing and possibly tapering, but if you just want to complete then it's not that complicated.

How do I avoid the "runner stitch" ?I just started running but it's very annoying.I am trying to do a 5K mixed running and walking, but at some point I get it and then I can no longer run or it comes back immediately.Last week I did 2.5km when I got it, then next time I tried to breathe deeper and relax my shoulders and I did 5km but still got it on the way back, today I had to stop at 2.5km again.
>>76707970different stitches in different locations mean different things. Eating or drinking too much immediately before running gives me one in the middle left. Not breathing correctly gives me one underneath the right rib. That one's usually too tough to ignore. I've heard it's because of stale breath that never gets replaced by not breathing fully, but I've also heard it's just a metabolic build-up thing with the liver or gallbladder or something, or a sensitive capillary, idk. Sometimes tucking my ribcage forward and into it a tiny bit helps
>>76706924what a pussy ass bitch
>>76708027I got mine underneath the right rib too.
>>76708048Yeah that one sucks. There's not much to do but slow down and inhale/exhale fully. Doing some upper ab circles couldn't hurt but doubt they'll do much.

>>76707970>>76708027The breath one isn't that hard to get rid off.You buy a large balloon, exhale to bottom, and then force yourself to keep on going. And you will get bad cough fits the first few times doing it.The only real trick is that you need to go from somewhat mid or full lungs to actually bottom out, and you are having side stiches because you are lacking the exhale muscles to do that.If you are willing to order of wish/amazon, get some really really big balloons, so you can get 10-15 full breaths in there, to avoid having to do multiple balloon fillings to do one set.It shouldn't take more than 2-3 weeks to completely get rid of it, assuming its breath related. The food variety still isn't solved by professional runners, they just try space out eating and drinking enough to remove the risk.
>>76707970>>76708027>>76708169Yeah it's the "exhaling" that's critical.Another test is to exhale now while you're resting, count how many seconds you can stay without needing to inhale (don't hold it uncomfortably, breathe in when you must), and you'll probably notice you can last way longer than you expect. And when running, as mentioned you're probably not exhaling entirely even though you have the capacity to let more out so you can suck more in

It's not a number i HAVE to hit when I'm at race day, I just want to get close to it. I'm not super duper serious about the race - it's just easier for me to reach my goals when i have a competition date set since it reminds me of competing in powerlifting , which i was a lot more consistent with when i had a meet coming up.

I just started ROONING and I’d say I’ve done less than 20 miles. Yesterday I wanted to run for 45 minutes and see how that goes. Got exactly 5 miles in 45 minutes.“Training” to do a half marathon. Is this good? I’ve got like 2.5 weeks until the half marathon, I’d like to be under 2 hours. Is this realistic? Is this good pace for someone that’s just started rooning? I’ve always been a decent runner by no effort of my own, but asthma as a child made running hurt like hell. Now that I don’t have asthma as an adult, running feels way better.
Managed to run 30 minutes twice this morning with just a 5 minutes or so walk between the two. Hope I can just run an hour soon. And then try to run 10K in that hour I guess, came to around ~8,2km today.
>wake up>want to roon>eat some McDonald's and wait an hour for it to digest>go to track, start running with zero warmup, zero water, zero stretching>knock 1:30 off 5K PR>feel amazing>go home and eat more foodI've been doing this every few days and it just keeps working? How the fuck do people think running is hard?
>get light flu >7th day of no running at allHad to go out, felt half decent, but also the strain on heart and lungs. For an easy run I had a 10bpm higher HR than usual.
>>76710494Could be a flexibility issue or muscle imbalance. I would ignore for now but do something if it doesn't change after a couple of weeks.

Anyone have form tips for taller runners? I can't really find anything useful just google searching. I'm 6'4 240lb (cutting now) and my joints feel great, but I feel like as I increase the pace I need to be proactive about injury prevention. Currently a 10km run for me is about 63 minutes and it's like 6-7/10 effort. When I do 16km runs I need a way longer recovery time, makes running feel like shit for like 5 days after
>>76710933I’m 6’2” and 220, but have been 235-240 before. Making sure I get enough protein has worked for me over the years. A protein shake immediately after roon/stretch is super important if you don’t plan to eat for an hour+ after your run. I aim for 100-150g protein a day and I’ve run 100mi/month since January.Other than that, at your training level, just get comfortable running 3-5 miles per run and don’t go crazy. 60min is a long run. 45 minutes is more sustainable. It’s much better to do 5x 40min runs a week than 3x 60min runs.

>>76708651Reanimate ankles
>>76710694>>76710694Unironically diet is something most runners overthink. As long as you are getting carbs and protein in and enough calories to allow you to recover you'll get within 90% of your potential eating any old slop. The last 10% requires perfect nutrition, which is why pro athletes have a chef. Most amateurs just need to run more to get faster. A dyel running 6 days a week and scoffing down a burger king every day will make vastly more gains than someone running 3x a week with the "perfect" diet. Now comparing health 30 years down the line is a different story, but if you just want to git fast then there are much lower hanging fruit to pick off.
>>76710694If you were a decent enough runner for this to matter, or for anyone to care, those improvements would get you to the world record within 2-3 sessions. You’re just fat and slow.

I have been doing one longer run (like 15-18 km at like 6:20 min/km) and two shorter runs (like 7-13 km at 6-6:10 min/km) per week for a while.

Sober for 24 days. Quit my job at the brewery as my drinking got out of control the last few years. I went pretty hard from like 16 or 17 but I'm 33 now. It's taken it's toll physically, mentally, and spiritually. Also quit sugar at the same time. It's not the fastest but I'm getting healthy again. Resting heart rate down from 85 to 56. What do I do if my left leg gets numb after 4k mark? The numbness starts from the ankle and goes up to my knee. Today I got numb at 2nd km so it's getting worse.
>>76713138The goal of all training is to train as hard and long as you can... without injury or long-term fatigue building up (which leads to injury). Making every session intense will cause injury. 80% of your runs should be easy i.e. slow pace. Injury means skipping training, which is much more significant than the difference between easy and intense.
>>76713247The cheapest one.
>>76704344Are expensive running shoes worth it if you don't have deformed feet or some shit like that? I'm using shitty cheap decathlon shoes but sometimes get pain in my archilles tendon after running and don't know if better shoes might fix it
First race tomorrow morning, aiming at a 50min 10k. Wish me luck lads
>>76713550Good luck champion
does anyone run in non polyester gear i.e cotton here
>>76713630I only run in silk
>>76713630Now that it's cold I easily get away with it
Pretty pleased. Got rainy in the middle but I maintained the ~8min/mile pace throughout the whole thing except for mile 1 and 3 big hills (8:40/mile)Glad that’s over with, can recover all weekend now.
>>76713468I run in adizero with lightstrike pro foam and my Achilles oftentimes hurts too.
>>7671204414h after this I went for today's cardio workout and I'm absolutely destroyed. Legs feel way too heavy.
anyone ever been exposed to agriculture chemicals during a run?
Ugh I'm not injured but I'm definitely in overuse mode, and it's Saturday. I can't decide whether to starve myself (on the cut) and do nothing or go out and risk injury or do some strength training
>>76708078what the- that's great, can you maintain that pace? or are you in the 10s/11s?
>>76712015I'm a total pothead who at 24 left a bar scene I was doing well in and dropped beer for weed. The schizophrenia aside, it's been a better vice. How did you get hired as a grower? Did you need education?
>>76713738Yeah. Multiple times.
>>76708571No shot.
>>76711370Increase gait by ten percent
Post your 5k PB and wether you have a social life or not.
>>7671396126.5 min, none
>>7671396122:58No
Finished my sidequest. Now I can go back to 5k training.
Instead of running I tried walking fast today and I did 1hr 20 mins at a pretty steady heart rate of around 135-140, my watch said I was in the "aerobic zone 3" for over 1 hour.Isn't that better than jogging for 25 mins and dying of death? I can't run that long even if I stop to walk in between because thins start to hurt.Or is it better to alternate heart rates up and down instead of keeping it steady in that zone?
7 miles no hip pain. Slowly building back up. I think WGMI.
>>7671396124:12, somewhat
>>76712015Extremely based. Good luck anon.
I just finished week 5 day 2 of c25k. I run 2 days a week instead of 3 because I also lift 3 days a week.Today's session was 8 mins running, 5 mins walk, 8 more mins running. It says that the next session is supposed to be 21 minutes running. I am absolutely gassed after 8 minutes of running. How the heck am I supposed to run for 21 mins straight?!
>>76713998Congrats, that's damn fast. Did it take a lot of training, and what's your 5k PB?
>>76713961>17:46 I don't do races anymore tho>Social life No
>>76713998looks like you failed palgotta go sub 60back out next week and go again
>>76713697Nice roon, how often do you go for 20 milers?
>>76708651are you the UFF poster from Denmark?
>>76714246Run slower.
>>76714455>>76713971>>76713969Is /roon/ a incel general?
I ran by lifting my knees up more and it makes a big difference
Brands have lost the plot but cuntsoomers will cuntsoom.
>>76714493I’m sure there is some incel overlap, but rooners are more likely to be autist who maybe have 2-3 friends and just go to work, roon, and maybe one more hobby. If they get a spouse they interact 90% with them. >yea I’m one of them.
