You're supposed to break a handful of raw spaghetti when you lift. If you break it all you're done. If you keep lifting you're creating fatigue for no reason. Sometimes it just takes one set. He was right in that sense. If he said wait 6 days to do it again that's not right.

Yates’ approach always sat well with me because it also worked for me, both on and off gear. I have seen people make incredible progress and success through volume (though not incredibly high, I think Arnold was effectively a disinformation agent of bodybuilding) but there are some people who respond far better to intense bursts of exercise

I never saw the point in spending more than an hour training, either. Intensity and a lower volume worked for me. I’d always advocate it if you’ve already tried volume
