This is why if I'm lifting close to my limit I make sure I'm lifting with safeties. If both of those benches are taken I'll just do more volume with lighter weight or wait for a bench with safeties to open up.

I bench with a 5' bar so I can't set up my safeties without the risk of smashing my elbows into them. I just don't put the clips on but I've only dumped the plates like that maybe 3 times. It's still risky and inconvenient, so I do the roll of shame instead. If you practice it well and it's basically one fluid motion it doesn't feel sketchy at all.

You can see how the bar can go behind the safeties if you happen to fail at re-racking the bar, and then it can realistically get pinned there by the safeties themselves as you try to not die.
