If you train at home, you have no commute, so you could even do a 7 day brosplit. But if you have to go to gym, you need to go more rarely but have longer workout. Also, at home you can do supersets to save time, you train two exercises at same time. At commercial gym someone can get angry at you for using two or more machines or equipment. At home you can use computer or TV when you rest during exercises.
>>76723948very coolpost your gym
My gym is full of pencilnecks so the entire rack/benches part is basically all mine given that i dont go at rush hour.
>>76723948yes I envy the home gym master racersit is my dream in my life to own my own home and have enough space in it to just set up a simple gym
>>76723972CIA post, do not reply.>>76724033I built home gym for 100 dollars that can train every muscle in the body. Nothing is stopping you from doing the same. You have no valid excuses.Pull up bar - 20 dollars. One dumbbell - 80 dollars.Dip chairs - already in the house, two heavy chairs. For 100 dollars you can train everything. If you do not have chairs suitable for dips, you can buy pull up + dip station.
>>76724147hmm well I have 4 kettlebells 8kg-32kg, a pullup bar, a 40lb weight vest, rings, a 100lb sandbag, ab wheel, back extension machine and a nordic bench (home made but it works for nordic curls)that isn't enough for me because I like powerlifting and weightlifting, I can't just snatch 80kg in my bedroom and don't have room for a power rack anywhereyes you can "train everything" but very much suboptimallyyou can't work your way up to a 500lb deadlift with that setup, we have different goals and that's okay, I'm glad it's enough for you, I just need more
If you can train 7 days a week you aren't training hard enough (or are on gear)
>>76724147You built a dumbbell, pullup bar, and two heavy chairs?
>>76723948when covid hit, i bought myself a pair of bowflex dumbbells and a bowflex barbell set. did nothing but dumbbell curls and tricep workout everyday. now that i am back in the gym, i don't have to do my biceps anymore.
>>76724179>that isn't enough for me because I like powerlifting and weightliftingThen stop liking it. It's gay.>you can't work your way up to a 500lb deadlift with that setupI meant I can train every muscle, not every exercise. I do not train deadlift. For hamstrings, I train one leg deadlift. It requires 5 times less weight than double leg deadlift.>>76724199No, If you do brosplit and only do one or two exercises per day for one muscle group, it's fine. But I don't train 7 days a week, waste of time.>>76724205No, I paid shekels for it.Can train every muscle with this 100 dollar setup.
Social anxiety fuels me to train harder and faster. I use my home gym only as a backup.
>>76724294What did you build?
>>76724441I built a lot of things, which I will not disclose here.
>>76724294I do 1 legged deadlifts with a 32kg dumbbell and they are easy, too easy to give any gainsI'd say it's not a 1:5 ratio more like 1:2
>>76724690>I do 1 legged deadlifts with a 32kg dumbbell and they are easy, too easy to give any gainsHow many reps?>I'd say it's not a 1:5 ratio more like 1:264kg double leg deadlift would feel like nothing in your case. We can set the ratio to 1:3. So 32kg one leg = 96kg dual leg.Remember than you also lift your torso and that one leg deadlift has bigger ROM than double leg deadlift. Are you sure you are doing one leg deadlift and not one leg squat? Your back/torso should be parallel to the floor during bottom position.>I'd say it's not a 1:5 ratio more like 1:2I think 1:3 and this would mean it's 3 times cheaper than dual leg barbell version.

>>76723948On top of all that, you can also make your bedroom your gym. I have a guest bedroom that is unused with its own full bathroom. But honestly I like this set up
>>76723948>gym is halfway between work and home and therefore doesn't require any additional commutingProblem?
>>76723948>If you train at home, you have no commute, so you could even do a 7 day brosplit. No commute is amazing, but 7 days would still be cancer. Natties are best working out 4-5 days a week max. >Also, at home you can do supersets to save time, you train two exercises at same time. At commercial gym someone can get angry at you for using two or more machines or equipment. You can superset some things, but it is a little restricted since you only have one of each piece of equipment and don't want to be moving shit around between every set.>At home you can use computer or TV when you rest during exercises.Yes but that can cause problems from mixing "work" and leisure. >>76723948One thing you don't realize you miss out on until you get a home gym is that you're no longer participating in an implicit hierarchy, which can be both good and bad. You no longer feel the pressure of being judged but then you also miss out on the motivation of lifting and showing off your body to others. You realize after a while that just like how Wittgenstein said there is no private language, there is no private physique. You are lying to yourself if you don't believe you maintain a physique to impress others.

I have a squat rack and everything I need to use it. I'll admit it is nice to use my computer in between sets but I feel like a fatass, like my breaks just take way too long and a 45 minute workout ends up taking 4 hours. Trying to figure out a fix that doesn't involve me having to pay more rent.

>>76723948Every point you've made is correct, but you can't fit machines inside a home gym unless you're literally wealthy, which is often why I do maybe half my workouts at my home gym and the other half at local gyms. I'm 25 years old. By the time I get a house where I could actually build a half-decent gym on the property and afford it, preferably attached to the house without looking like some ugly addition with plenty of sound-proofing and likely even a separate cooling system for additional sound-proofing, I would likely be in my mid 30s by the earliest, and that's being hopeful if things really go my way. There's also the issue of never seeing any attractive women when when you go work out at your home gym. Doesn't matter, though. I'm too fat and too poor to stand a chance with most of the fit girls at the gym with nice asses.

>>76728332>Machines are gayThey're amazing for legs. If I had the space (a nice, big house) and the money, I'd buy pretty much all the leg machines, including specialized ones for the glute max. The only machines I use for upper body are the multi flight for my delts, the incline seated press for my upper pecs, and the seated high row, since barbell rows are essentially just low rows, so you hit your back muscles from a different angle with the seated high row machine.
>>76728332>>76728621I would also get a crossover, since all I have is this shitty DIY (although I'm proud of making it) cable setup. I can do lat prayers, tricep pushdowns, face pulls, and one-arm cable flies, but I need to do them really slowly and be really careful, since those plates on that loading pin could easily bruise up your hand or break one of your metacarpal bones. I still haven't figured out what to do to make this less likely to happen, since you're a bit fucked when you actually break hand bones. I've done it once before when I was a teenager, and you do fully recover from it, but it will fuck you up for months. I also have a straight bar attachment / tool that isn't in the photo.
>>76728621>>76728643Cables aren't usually paired in with other machines. They are much more useful and general purpose, especially for rows. I don't care to have a cable setup in my home gym. Ironically one of the few machines I thought was worth using was the chest supported row.Lower body machines like leg extensions and leg curls are fucking dogshit. The leg press is great but again that isn't often considered a machine, still it's too big and expensive for most home gyms and probably requires you to buy extra 45s. There are power rack attachments for leg press, but I've never used them and they don't look that good. One piece of equipment I recommend is a back extension. I have the CAP one and it can handle me swinging on it with a loaded barbell, the foot plate is great too. It btfo stupid leg curls.

>>76728695>The leg press is great but again that isn't often considered a machineI have issues with my abdominals, so I avoid doing any compound movements with my legs. I still lightly hit my abdominals when doing other exercises like lat prayers and tricep pushdowns, along with a few other exercises, though. I use machines to work out all my leg muscles individually. My leg workouts involve cable hip extension for glute max, hip abduction for side glutes, hip adduction for adductors, leg extension for quads, and barbell hyperextension on the roman chair for erectors. Hyperextension also works the hamstrings and glutes a bit, even the side glutes. I can only do 2 to 3 sets of hyperextensions per workout due to the painful pumps I get from them.

Home gym, decent gym. If I had the time and inclination to go to a proper gym I would. But I prefer the comfort and lack of hassle with a home gym. I can train my entire body with this setup. Yeah cables would be nice but I can get those in the future if I switch to a more compact half rack + cables -setup. The ATX-750 is pretty large even if it's a half-rack.
