I honestly think being able to do handstand push-ups is the pinnacle of CalisthenicsIts just so impressive to be able to handstand and then proceed to move your body in that motion. If anyone thinks another exercise should deserve that title than share your opinion
>>76738069Handstand push ups are easy in terms of strength, what makes them impressive is the balance requiredt. can crank out several against a wall but couldn't hold an unsupported handstand to save his life
>>76738199Compare them to other exercises like pistol squats and muscle-ups and tell me what is the most impressive overall of the 3
>>76738199maybe I'm just weak as fuck but I don't think they're easy at all. not if you're doing more than a few reps
Planche and it's variants are the true pinnacle. HSPU isn't that hard. Its more technique than strength.
>>76738069See: >>76738199 - the balance part is far harder for most people. I am not impressed when I see people doing them against the wall, not even a little bit. They are also way, way less ROM than an OHP - literally half ROM or less. >>76738316Not him obviously, but for me it goes something like this in ascending difficult / "I am impressed level"> wall HSPU from anyone> L-sit for over 15 seconds with strict form> kip muscle up from sub 170lb ("lightfag")> kip muscle up from anyone> strict muscle up from lightfag> pistol squat with good form> handstand> freestanding HSPU> planches and front levers go here> one-hand PUHonestly, if you are young and a lightfag with no injuries, just get the backflip if you want to impress people.>>76738538Planches aren't even remotely feasible for the average person. They are 4/5/6 tier. I will probably literally bench 4 with no steroids before I get a planche. Progressions are hell and you get tendonitis immediately and make zero progress. Ib4 "u problem".----trldr: You do a freestanding HSPU in the middle of the gym, and everyone is going to mire. You bench 3 (at over 200 lbs bw), do a muscle up, or even do a pistol squat, and some people might go "yea, ok, not bad", but no one is going to be impressed.
>>76738572P.S. while I am here - I haven't seen anyone backflip, handstand walk, hold a handstand, planche, or front lever IRL in over a decade, which is when I last hung out with parkour / gymanstics fags. Shit is pretty rare for a normie. Then again, if I still went to martial arts / parkour gyms, I would have probably not seen anyone bench over 3 plates for that long. The point is that if I saw someone just holding a handstand or backflipping at a commercial gym, it would be a "wow" moment for me. And yes, I know a healthy, semi-fit 15 year with some balls old can do a backflip with 2 days of practice. But it's still rare to be comfortable enough (and well-practiced enough not to be stupid in doing it) and do it out of the blue.P.S. I will throw in splits just above L-sit. It's rare, but no one cares.
